This one had me hooked from the first chapter. The idea of a fire investigator who's secretly an arsonist is such a unique premise, and I couldn't stop turning the pages to see how Red was going to keep her secrets from catching up with her.

Red isn't always easy to like, but she's such an interesting, flawed character that I couldn't look away. The tension just kept building, and every time I thought I had things figured out, something else happened. I also really liked the dynamic between Red and DS Lina Karim, and I'm excited to see where that relationship goes.

If you love dark, twisty thrillers with morally grey characters and plenty of suspense, I'd definitely recommend this one. Such a strong debut, and I'll be keeping an eye out for the next book in the series!

Red is a fire investigator. She’s great at her job and has a mind great at solving the puzzles. However, she’s also a pyromaniac setting fires when the need overcomes her. When a body is found in one of her fires, she is panicked, is she a murderer.

Initially I didn’t know what to make of this. Such a strange concept to have a fire investigator be starting fires. However the deeper into the book I got my opinion changed and I was desperate to race to the end to see who had it in for Red. The book gives us very small glimpses into Red’s past and her reasons for being an arsonist. The descriptions of fire and how it starts, and spreads were very graphic and had me fully invested. There were constant twists and it was hard to know who to trust in the book (including Red!). With a major cliffhanger at the end I really wish this hadn’t ended yet!

Highly recommend this. Such a different, unique story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

All She Burns was such an addictive and captivating read! Charlotte Essex creates a story that pulls you in from the beginning, with compelling characters, plenty of emotion, and a storyline that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the twists along the way, and I found myself completely invested in where the story would go. A gripping and enjoyable read that I’d happily recommend!

The perfect edge-of-your-seat thriller.

You are immediately drawn into this story from the very first pages. The pace is relentless throughout, and I found myself constantly looking forward to picking the book back up to discover what would happen next.

The plot is cleverly constructed, following the main character, Red, as she investigates a fire she started herself. Things take a much darker turn when a body is discovered—one that Red knows nothing about.

The twists are expertly woven into the story and, thankfully, are not glaringly obvious. I really enjoyed the suspense and the way the tension builds throughout.

I particularly liked the idea of following a story to discover whether someone will get away with a crime, rather than the more familiar “who did it?” approach. It made for a refreshing and engaging read.

The ending left me feeling as though I was on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping this means there is more to come!

An excellent debut novel. A very clever concept where the main character Red who is a fire investigator also has a hobby of being an arsonist. Very easy to read and smart twisty writing style kept me hooked until the end. Highly recommended.

Well, this was a page turner - such a unique story.

A firestarter investigating fires. Even the character name, Red, evoked flames in my mind! She wasn't always likeable, but there were times where i just wanted her to be understood. Really pulled at my conscious this one.
