A Creepy, Atmospheric Supernatural Horror

What a wild ride this was!
As someone who loves supernatural horror, I was immediately drawn to a book quite literally titled Suicide Demon. The intriguing cover caught my attention as well and I couldn’t wait to dive in.
The story immediately starts with a bang, introducing us to the main character while she is staying in a hospital and realizes that she is being haunted by a demon. From there, the book is divided into several parts, each with an ominous title that hints at where the story is heading. I really enjoyed this structure, as it added to the sense of foreboding and made me curious about what was coming next.
For roughly 80% of the book, I was thoroughly invested. The writing is engaging and the tension remains consistently high. There are several genuinely creepy scenes, particularly the moment in the hospital when the main character and another patient begin to realize that something is wandering the halls. Those scenes created exactly the kind of unsettling atmosphere I look for in paranormal horror.
Unfortunately, the ending didn't quite live up to the promise of the rest of the book. I also found myself skimming several sections toward the end because of the amount of repetition. The author goes into considerable detail explaining how the haunting is being fought, but I felt that the reader already understood the situation from earlier parts of the story. Some of these explanations could have been shortened without losing the impact or clarity of the story.
Despite these criticisms, I genuinely enjoyed Suicide Demon. The atmosphere, creepy encounters, and consistently unsettling premise kept me engaged for most of the book. Fans of paranormal and supernatural horror who enjoy demonic hauntings should definitely give this one a try.

Unsurprisingly given the title, this was a very dark and unsettling read! The author evokes a strong feeling of dread throughout which kept me pushing through - I found I just had to keep going to get to the end and find how it was going to resolve.

I’d definitely recommend this, with a caveat to be very careful of your trigger warnings as this has some dark subject matter.

This was definitely dread inducing and pretty scary throughout! The author definitely set the tone for an uneasy, unsettling read which was highly effective. If you like dark horror, definitely check this one out!

I could not put this book down! It was absolutely amazing. I loved every minute of it as it gripped me wholly. I cannot wait to recommend to my book club! The author did an amazing job with this one.

Deeply atmospheric and the writing style was easy to read. Would read from this author again. After the exorcist I wanted more possession demon stuff 🤣

*Suicide Demon* by C.W. Anderson is an occult horror novel releasing September 3, 2026, from Fever Dream Books. After surviving a suicide attempt, Julia Benson awakens in the hospital with two weeks missing from her memory. When she returns home, she finds disturbing evidence of a life she doesn’t recognize and begins seeing a mysterious pale man connected to the part of herself she calls “Other Julia.”

The story takes a little time to reveal where it is going, but once the pale man enters Julia’s life, the mystery becomes increasingly dark and engaging. What begins with questions about Julia’s missing memories develops into a much larger supernatural struggle involving possession, fractured identity, and spiritual warfare.

The idea of a suicide demon preying on someone during an already vulnerable period is creative, unsettling, and easily the strongest part of the book. Anderson gives the story plenty of disturbing imagery, gore, and self-harm while keeping Julia’s fight for control at its center. It is an ambitious concept and unlike anything I have read recently.

Some of the religious elements were more definitive than I personally prefer, and I would have liked certain parts of Julia and “Other Julia” to feel more distinct. However, the central premise kept me interested, the pacing remained steady once the story found its footing, and the ending brought everything to a satisfying conclusion.

Overall, *Suicide Demon* is an interesting and original piece of occult horror. Readers who enjoy possession, demonic entities, graphic supernatural imagery, and horror that isn’t afraid to descend into some very dark places should put this one on their radar.
