Description
A phoenix foretold to ruin the throne. A prince destined to slaughter her people. When their fates collide, they’ll save their kingdom or be its doom.
Isoria Gildmere has no intention of fulfilling the prophecy told when she was a child. She doesn’t care about destroying the throne. As a forbidden phoenix shifter, all she wants is to survive. But when her people begin losing their magic and their lives start to fade, she ventures outside her protected town to find answers.
Though she fears the fae who hunt her kind, darker things lurk beyond her home. The dead are rising, and they wield terrifying powers. Ones that threaten the entire kingdom.
Crown Prince Archer Emberglade is committed to protecting his people from the revenants. Even if it means bargaining with the god of death and eradicating every last phoenix, those he believes are to blame. But when he and Isoria have a fateful encounter, they unintentionally form a blood bond, a connection that will kill them if they stray too far from each other.
Now, forced to work together or die, Archer and Isoria must convince his court they’re madly in love, all while desperately fighting a growing undead army and their own tumultuous feelings. But time is running out. And death isn’t the only thing to fear.

Isoria Gildmere has spent her life hidden alongside the last phoenix shifters, believing that staying out of sight is the only way to keep her people safe. When a mysterious illness begins stealing their magic and hope starts to fade, she realizes that remaining in the shadows is no longer enough. At the same time, Crown Prince Archer is doing everything he can to protect Emberglade from an army of the dead while struggling under the rule of a ruthless king whose decisions continue to push the kingdom toward disaster. As Isoria and Archer find themselves drawn toward the same dangerous path, old prophecies, forgotten secrets, and impossible choices threaten to change the future of everyone around them. With powerful magic, dangerous creatures, and a kingdom on the brink of collapse, the story constantly raises the stakes and makes it difficult to predict what will happen next.
I really enjoyed this book because it offers a great balance of fantasy, romance, and action while keeping the focus on its characters. Archer was my favorite because of his determination to protect others despite everything working against him, and I also liked watching Isoria grow stronger as she faced challenges far beyond the life she had always known. The world building is detailed, the magic system is interesting, and the prophecies kept me curious throughout the story. At times, the pacing slows down because of the amount of political and world building details, but it never felt overwhelming and those moments helped make the story richer. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy romantasy with complex worlds, magical creatures, high stakes, and slow building romance.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Ruin of Revenants swept me up in the sweetest, slow-building way. Isoria and Archer's opposite sides of the same prophecy made for such a compelling journey, and I loved watching her grow braver while he stayed fiercely determined despite everything stacked against him. The phoenix symbolism felt so tender and meaningful, that gentle idea of rising from your ashes and starting again. Between the fire magic, forced proximity, meddling gods, and rising undead, there's a lot woven in, but the twists kept me pleasantly surprised throughout. The slow-burn enemies-to-lovers tension was full of warmth and banter, and I appreciated the soft-yet-fierce heroine along with some thoughtful mental health representation. Pacing slows here and there with world-building details, but it only made the story feel richer. A cozy, satisfying standalone with real heart. 4.5stars
