Dante is going to be a very rich man. The only thing standing in his way is a single task: deliver the kidnapped crown princess across the continent to the drop-off location.
In a world populated by humans, fae, and shifters, Dante has reached his breaking point as a crime lord’s long-suffering underling. Seeing an opportunity to earn his freedom, he accepts the most treacherous assignment of his life: kidnapping the crown princess to deliver her to a drop-off location across the continent.
However, when Prim finds herself ensnared by the assassin, she forms a plan and plays the obedient captive as they encounter friends, foes, dragons, and some very spicy peppers. As their journey progresses, she discovers she’s not the only one harboring secrets and hidden motivations...

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I really enjoyed this one! The first half is an absolute delight, full of banter, chemistry, and tension between Prim and Dante that had me completely hooked. Prim is clever and snarky under her dainty exterior, and Dante's "diamond in the rough" energy is so warmly written, especially through his bonds with family and friends. The main twist shifts things in a way which I found a little less charming. But the political intrigue still kept me turning pages, and the spice level? Immaculate. The writing is polished and the worldbuilding is solid. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens next. A lovely read overall!
Banter, bounty hunting, secrets, spice, and fantasy chaos? Say less.
The setup immediately worked for me: a bounty hunter tasked with transporting a kidnapped princess across a dangerous fantasy world while both of them are hiding their own motives and secrets. It gave the story plenty of room for adventure, tension, and a lot of entertaining back-and-forth between Prim and Dante.
Their dynamic was definitely my favorite part. Prim comes across polished and delicate at first, but she is much sharper, funnier, and more stubborn than people expect. Dante has a rougher personality, but I loved seeing the softer side of him through the way he interacts with the people he cares about. Together, they had great chemistry, and the banter and tension made the first half especially enjoyable.
I also liked how much variety there was in the fantasy world. Between humans, fae, shifters, dragons, political conflict, hidden agendas, and a few surprisingly funny moments, there was always something happening. The story also mixes romance with mystery and betrayal, which kept me questioning who could actually be trusted.
There is a major shift later in the book that changed the tone quite a bit. I didn’t enjoy that section quite as much as the earlier adventure, but the political intrigue and twists still kept me interested. I also appreciated that the story wasn’t afraid to get messy with its characters and their decisions.
And yes, the romance absolutely delivered. The chemistry was strong, the tension built well, and the spice was very well done without completely taking over the story.
Overall, this was an entertaining romantasy with a fun central pairing, plenty of secrets, solid worldbuilding, and enough twists to keep things unpredictable. I’m definitely curious to see what happens next.

I absolutely loved The Impossible Bounty and was so stoaked that it loved up to my expectations.
The world-building was incredible and completely pulled me into the story. I loved following Prim and Dante on their adventures, and the plot kept me hooked from start to finish. Best of all, I didn't see the twist coming - which was a huge plus. The romance was fantastic and the spice was spicy; it never overshadowed the story. It felt like it enhanced everything rather than taking over, which is something I don't always find in romantasy these days.
This was such a fun, immersive read and one I highly recommend. I will be hanging out for the second.
Thanks to NetGalley for the arc x

Overall, this was a pretty fun read that initially appeared straight forward - an assassin looking to retire with a big payday, tasked with delivering a princess to a client - preferably alive. Said princess, born without power, is about to be wed into a marriage of alliance. However, nothing is ever as straight forward as it seems, and Kate does a fantastic job of sprinkling little breadcrumbs of foreshadowing throughout the story. This will have you turning or scrolling back trying to figure out how you missed each little hint.
I enjoyed the smart and witty characters with great banter, practical situations, and strong world-building. There is a bit of a tone change from a darker fantasy to more trope-based romantasy in the middle but is doesn’t take away from the plot. It allows the characters to show different sides of themselves, resolve some preconceived notions and develop feelings for each other. The spicy bits were very entertaining, especially the scene with what’s-his-name…
If you are looking for a spicy and fun adventure read, similar to “Smoke and Scar” then “The Impossible Bounty” by Kate Spell is for you. I look forward to reading book 2, and would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this great story.
This was such a fun and addictive fantasy romance! ✨🖤
I loved the mix of adventure, danger and romance, with plenty of twists to keep me turning the pages. The world-building pulled me in, while the characters and their chemistry gave the story that extra spark.
A fast-paced and entertaining start to the series that left me wanting more!

This is exactly the kind of book I’ve been craving! I loved everything from the writing style and world-building to the delightful characters. Adventure and romance are two of my favorite things to find in a book, and this one delivered on both. It was fast-paced, charming, and so much fun. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
