It’s rare for me to find a book that gets finished in pretty much one sitting, but this was one of those rare gems.
The story of a group of friends that go on a skiing holiday together, but there’s a lot of past between them all, and with a thriller set on a ski resort you know that things aren’t going to be simple or friendly.
With a few trips of reminiscing into the past, this is a captivating story of how a wrong or two in the past can really come back to bite you in the bum.
If you like a good thriller with really likeable characters then this is for you

I love Rachel's books. I got super excited when I saw this because she released one not that long ago. This group of friends reunites after years of silence. Of course, you know when these reunions take place, someone always wants revenge! But it's not the person you thought. Or for the reason you thought! Great suspense and twists! Powered through it!

4 uni friends and two partners haven’t been together for years. One of the group is now a famous actress, and invites them all on the skiing trip of a lifetime. While there they remember their friend who died after their graduation party. With accidents on the slopes, and many old secrets threatening to spill, who of the group will do anything to keep them including murder?

This was so good. With flashbacks to the uni days and chapters form all the group. I really enjoyed it. Vivid descriptions of skiing, and hazy memories of uni nights, I could always picture the situation the characters were in. With various red herrings along the way, I definitely suspected most of the group at times. The final reveal was shocking and unexpected but very exciting to read things unfolding in real time.
I personally would have enjoyed the end chapter to be have had more on ‘what they did next’ but the authors choice has left me wanting more-a great way to end. Highly recommend.

This is told from multiple pov as we go back and forth from their graduation from Cambridge to now.
This is full of red herrings, and there are plenty of twists to keep you gripped.
I loved how the weather closed in as we got nearer to the reveal, adding to the tension.
A quick and enjoyable read. I think this is my favourite of Rachel's books.

Rachel writes that closing in feeling so well. ive been lucky enough to read her other books and she is right in her line of the kind of books she writes and better still the ones i love to read.
this one once again brings the locked in, claustrophobic and increasing unease to full force. it creeps off the pages to you. but as always there is clever and far more going on with the story line and its all pieced together bit by bit for the characters and also for us as an audience. Rachel doesn't just do things for effect. she puts together a group of people with a story line that tracks. a story line that feels like it makes sense and isn't just tick boxing for twists or shock value. and i dont know how she does it but once again im left with such a smug smile as i finally reached those last pages. smug because once again Rachel has given the gift of a fab read.
what could possibly go wrong with a group of friends who have a past, a past that changed everything. and so when said friends all come together again, in a luxury chalet, then cut off from the rest of the world? yeh, sure, what could possibly go wrong? and its here i feel like going "mwhahahaha" line.
i love how we meet the group when everything seems so promising. they are those young and enthusiastic ages where when you find your gang you tell yourself this is you and them for life, that you will go onwards to your new futures but still be "the group". but then this is shattered by one night that changed it all. this night means they beak apart and its never spoken of again. but we do also then see how this night will go on to effect them all.
then we sweep seamlessly into the now part. and Sophie is a rising star. and so does the extremely sensible thing of organising a reunion in a remote location. hmmmmmm.
everything crackles from there. the whole group feel like they are walking through the stickiness of their past, of their now, of what went on in between. and i dont mean that in a pleasant way. Rachel captures that tension and unspoken but obvious feeling that is practically bouncing from the walls.
so when things do indeed start to happen, when accidents occur, well, we all knew it was coming but just how is what is to come.
i felt both the dread for the characters in what i knew must be coming but also the dread as if i was one of them waiting for it to happen! Rachel does so brilliantly at getting you into the thick of it, you can feel the emotions swirling, you can feel all the unsaid somehow feeling very much said in every move people make. but what and who is causing what comes next is still the books greatest element.

is this about individual secrets or so much more?
does this go back to what happened to one of them all those years ago?
the clever way in which Rachel makes me suspect every single one of the group had me pulled in more and more. i had to finish this book. i had to know the reveal. and it was sooooo satisfying when all was revealed. i never saw it coming and yet it made total sense.
the multi pov and back and forth only added to the deliciousness with which we get our info and character knowledge.
the red herring were smart not forced for red herrings sake.
this book had me sat and needing to read just one more chapter. until i then realised there was no way i was going to bed until i knew how this would all play out. hens its 1am now and the house has already gone to bed.

A snowstorm, a group of friends with a history and a killer. I could feel my heart racing through my ribcage and it felt ice like cold. The plot is masterfully thrilling.

This is a fast paced dual timeline story with plenty of twists and turns.
