When Grace Evans graduates from college at the height of the recession, she knows she'll have to take any job she can get. She wants to be a pediatric nurse, but she ends up in the farthest thing from it: hospice. She has a lot to learn, professionally, but she soon realizes there is so much more to discover on a personal level. 

Grace develops a close relationship with one particular patient, Vivian Adler, an eccentric millionaire who lives alone, suffering from a cancer she ignored through vanity and shame. Grace tries her best to help her work through her dark past, but time is running out. She employs the help of Vivian's pseudo-grandson, Matthew, but sparks fly immediately, threatening not only her professionalism but her four-year relationship with her boyfriend, Tyler. 

Will Grace help Vivian find peace before it's too late? Will Grace's relationship survive the instant connection she forms with Matthew? Most importantly, perhaps, will Grace have what it takes to make it in such an emotionally demanding field?
