Connie and her daughter Jenn have never had an easy relationship. At eighty-seven, Connie can look back on a formidable career as a lawyer, fighting for women’s rights. Jenn meanwhile has built a quieter life. After all, it’s hard to be inspired by a mother who was never really there.

When Connie decides to host her own living wake, Jenn is drawn back into her orbit for four intense days. As old tensions rise and resentments threaten to spill over, Jenn braces herself for the worst.

Yet Connie has a revelation to share — and it may change everything Jenn thought she knew about her mother, her family, and herself. Can decades of pain be reckoned with in just four days?
