Hedayat, an Iranian immigrant programmer living in Cologne, Germany, is struggling with the consequences of his own bad decisions—the decisions that drove his partner away. When Anonymous invites him to join ACE, a game designed to help players make conscious decisions, he accepts.

But even Mr. Writer, the main character in Hedayat’s unfinished novel, refuses to obey his creator. Having gained the ability to step outside his own story, he manipulates Hedayat’s manuscript and speaks directly to readers.

Meanwhile, Hedayat’s digital child, Adam, has uncovered the secret behind port 2313, reestablished contact with his father, and returned with a strange request. Surprisingly, his request has nothing directly to do with Hedayat’s digital grandchildren, Fuchsiafish, who have learned greed from humans and are consuming energy at an alarming rate.

At the same time, Hedayat’s old friend and his business partners envision something far greater for the ACE game: a form of social therapy, a bloodless revolution beginning with small businesses.
