Joe Kerkvliet spent much of his life on a family farm in rural northwest Iowa, where he learned the value of hard work and developed a deep appreciation for open spaces and outdoor adventure.After graduating from Kansas State University, Joe farmed for fourteen years before transitioning to a twenty-five year career in the corporate world. During that time, he also ran The Works by Joe, LLC, a handyman service.In his debut book, Joe shares short stories, essays, and photographs capturing the unique people and places he has encountered on the open road. Joe currently resides in Overland Park, Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, Missouri.
