God, be merciful to me, a sinner.

God has not been kind to Louise-Hélène. All her life she’s been considered unattractive, unremarkable and painfully naïve. So, when her twin brother is caught in a shameful act, pursuing the life of a nun is her opportunity to redeem the family’s status.

But while Louise-Hélène devotes her mind and body to the cloth, the other sisters take a quick disliking to her self-righteous and sheltered nature. As a heatwave descends on their Provençal village, and preparations for the local celebration ramp up, increasingly strange, unspeakable, and unexplainable temptations are put in her path.

But Louise-Hélène isn’t prepared to disappoint this time: not herself, her order, her family, or God. She’s going to be a very, very good girl – whatever it takes.

In the suffocating heat of rural Provence, this young nun's desperate bid for family redemption spirals into something rather unholy. Sex, scandal, even murder! It’d be a sin not to read it…
