With irreverent humor and unexpected tenderness, Tess Maer transforms a classic opposites-attract romance into a story about wealth, addiction, sexuality, body image, family, and shame. Beneath the glamour and absurdity lies an intimate exploration of the divide between who we are and who we allow others to see.

Merlin Ibadula never wanted to be an actor.

A chef with no interest in fame, and even less interest in fulfilling his mother’s ambitions, Merlin ends up cast in a lawyers-to-lovers drama after a drunken audition goes too far.

Now he’s stuck playing a role he doesn’t want, opposite a man he can’t stand.

Constance Montgomery is everything Merlin isn’t.

A hedge fund manager who built his reputation on discipline, he has a zero-tolerance policy for people who treat life like a joke.

But the film demands chemistry.

And somewhere between rehearsals, interviews, and too many unscripted moments, pretending starts to feel closer to the truth.

In their world, every glance is noticed, and every mistake is eagerly gossiped about at the latest fundraiser.

And wanting the wrong person? It’s a risk neither of them can afford.
