Description
Some secrets are worth killing for
Twenty-two year old Darcy Jordan should be enjoying college life. Instead, two months after a brutal assault, she is living with unanswered questions, shattered trust, and the terrifying reality that her attacker is still out there. With no arrests and no viable suspects, Darcy turns to private investigator Maddie Landon.
Adopted at birth and shaped by a lifetime of searching for answers, Maddie has built a career uncovering truths others want buried. But as she digs into Darcy’s life, she discovers a web of lies threaded through an urban college campus.
Then one of Darcy’s classmates is murdered. What begins as a search for Darcy’s attacker, becomes an investigation into something far more sinister—secret relationships, a respected professor with something to hide, and a charming next-door neighbor with a suspicious past.
As the danger escalates, Maddie realizes she isn’t just hunting a killer. She’s becoming the next target—pulling her deeper into a conspiracy that threatens everyone she’s determined to protect.
The Color of Revenge, Ellen Shapiro’s fifth mystery, draws on her thirty years as a private investigator to bring authenticity to a suspenseful story of a determined female private investigator.

THE COLOR OF REVENGE, written by long-time PI Ellen Shapiro, is the best Maddie Landon Mystery to date! This face paced, page turning mystery begins with a sexual assault and escalates to murder. I was engaged from the start and couldn't put it down. There are just the right number of suspects along with twists and turns. The story includes clues that allow the reader to participate, along with PI Maddie Landon, in solving the crimes and identifying the guilty party. You feel like you personally know Maddie as the story is seamlessly intertwined with info about her own personal life and struggles. I hope to read more Maddie Landon Mysteries in the future. I highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars.

If you're looking for your next mystery read, this is it!
I really liked this book and highly recommend picking it up. It follows PI Maddie Landon as she investigates a campus assault that quickly turns into a murder investigation. It’s got a great cast of suspicious characters, a perfectly eerie college campus backdrop, and a really smart plot that keeps you hooked.
What I loved most was the main character, Maddie Landon. She is written as a flawed, relatable investigator who feels like a real person rather than a flawless superhero.

Maddie Landon, haunted by a childhood family tragedy, is driven towards the dark side of human nature. As a savvy and determined private investigator, she troops through Manhattan's Upper West Side to track down a reticent rape victim’s assailant who might also be a murderer. At the same time, Maddie struggles to make a commitment to the man she loves. With its unexpected twists and fast-paced prose, this is Ellen Shapiro’s best book yet.
