The second book in a spellbinding middle-grade series about a magical boarding house for dragons, a mysterious magical competition, and the unlikely siblings destined to save their community

Jenny and Olly Atwood may have defeated an evil plan to destroy their beloved Dragon House and the brilliant woman who cares for it, but the danger is far from over. Word is spreading through the kingdom that magic is real and that Cecil—the king’s magician—is hosting a magic competition to find the most powerful children in the land.

Dr. Lady suspects Cecil is using the competition to build an army of young wizards, and she needs Jenny to enter and uncover his plans. But with local dragons disappearing and a strange and powerful magic hidden underground, Jenny’s mission grows more dangerous than they could have imagined.

Back in Oakridge, a factory strike has begun, and tensions are reaching a boiling point. As the authorities begin targeting the strike leaders, Olly is sure someone is slipping information to the king’s magician. Can Olly discover the spy’s identity before someone gets hurt? Or will the strikers have to call upon the help of their most powerful (but secret) allies: the dragons?
