Description

Vold Book’s Cometa Minor is a hero’s quest with cosmological stakes: a literary, metaphysical novel at the meeting point of myth and science fiction, and at its heart a meditation on what becomes of a world when power, and “intelligence,” outrun basic humanity.

Its storylines weave together: political upheaval in a hidden forest commune; the quest for the Breniculine and Mount Penglai; a descent into the cursed catacombs of the Labyrinth; and a mountain trek that becomes a study of camaraderie.

Each of the eleven narrated chapters has its own original score, eleven hours of music in all, collected as a 94-track album. The text and music were written and performed without AI.

For readers of Piranesi, The Alchemist, and Nineteen Eighty-Four, and listeners of Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and The Smashing Pumpkins: a layered, complex novel that rewards attention, best experienced with its music (streaming links at cometaminor.com).

Advance Praise

“Idea-rich and intriguing … builds a mythology around concepts of grief and control … a literary novel with cosmological stakes.”

—Foreword Clarion Reviews, ★★★★☆

“Trautman's novel details an expansive realm and many characters across its narrative strands ... The novel's structure is cleverly replicated by the in-story puzzle box architecture—readers will be kept guessing by this pacy novel.”
