This Christmas, you get exactly what you have earned.

That is the promise. It is also the threat.

After giving in to the worst parts of themselves, eight children are snatched from the world on Christmas Eve. They wake to find themselves in Santa’s Workshop, but it is far from a winter wonderland.

It runs like a company and preaches like a church, with three laws burned into the wall, a daily reminder to all of Santa’s new helpers:

Joy is mandatory.

The quota is the cure.

Silence is sadness.

Meet your target and in twelve weeks you earn your place on the sleigh.

A teenage hacker named Cyrus carries a lump of cold iron for a heart. He intends to climb the Workshop’s ladder the exact same way he has beaten every other system. But as the children are worked toward ruin, he finds this is not a machine with an exit. It is a doctrine, and the doctrine is simple: every child owes a debt that no amount of work will ever pay.

Getting out will take one impossible thing: the opening of a closed fist.

Requisitioned is a dark, literary Christmas horror novel with an overt Christian allegory. It is the story of a terrible place built on the worship of merit, written for readers who grew up on C.S. Lewis and have wanted, ever since, a story with real teeth and a real reckoning.

Some debts cannot be paid. They can only be forgiven.
