Will wakes in the dark. No memory. No idea he's being hunted.

Isolated colonies known as Holds are all that remain of the world. Each one is powered by the Source, a rare energy that keeps the darkness at bay and whatever moves within it.

When a Hold rescues him, Will learns what he is—a Pathfinder, a powerful amplifier of the Source. Everyone thought his kind were gone. This makes him a target.

One faction wants to use him to reach a great Hold lost in the dark. The other, a zealot cult serving a mysterious figure known as the Mother, wants him dead.

Someone put Will in stasis, and he doesn't know why. To find out, he must survive.

Right now, he's the most important person in the Hold.

And that's the only thing keeping him alive.
