Dark and gritty detective novel. The main character is an excellent detective whose personal life is destroyed by his career. Despite this he soldiers on with his unpleasant soon to be ex berating him with every opportunity. Interesting DNA facts and love the way he was able to carry on with all the adversity he faced.
