Thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers Headline Publishing Group for the copy and chance to read and review this book.

So what do we have? A thrilling page turner of a book with a spiky and very likeable heroine in Central America following her dream of discovering an archaeological site. What a way she goes about it, we have Indiana Jones meets The African Queen meets The Crystal Maze. The author Ms Benson has created a heroine (and hero) that are surely bound for the silver screen. May I suggest Emma Watson and Aidan Turner for the lead roles?

A great story, well told with action, humour and romance. Highly recommended. More please!

*This book was received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
This is the story of Eleanora Mallory in the year 1898, a suffragette and wannabe archaeologist.
She is in search of The Lost City and with a medallion and map she journeys to Central America where she meets Adam Bates who guides her through the uncharted part of rivers and jungles .
Eleanora isn’t very trusting of anyone, even Adam Bates, where as she is on the run from Jacobs and Dawson who are also in search of an artefact which the map will lead them to, they will do anything to get a hold of it.
Jacquelyn Benson brought out the action and adventure to life with these characters, true Indiana Jones style.

I thoroughly enjoyed this - a fast paced action adventure with a twist of "magic". An interesting cast and some fascinating plotting about ancient civilisations - a brilliant mixture of research and imagination.
Don't let the subtitle put you off, yes she's a suffragette but basically that means that she's feisty, intelligent and kickass.
Lara Croft meets Indiana Jones.

Delightful hokum; get lost in a different time and place! In some ways this could seem derivative but there are enough differences to let this book stand on its own merits. The heroine is a wonderfully strong and courageous individual at a time when women were expected to do whatever the menfolk wanted. The story is well written and suspenseful - a real page-turner. Can we expect a sequel??? Recommended.
