Description

Sequel to Front Lines, the epic new young adult series by the author of GONE set in an alternate World War II.

Summer 1943. The enemy has been bloodied, but Nazi Germany is very far from beaten. Now the American army is moving on to their next target: the Italian island of Sicily.

With heavy memories of combat, the three young soldier girls – Rio, Frangie and Rainy – now know what they are willing to do to save themselves, and understand the consequences of those actions. On the front lines, they will again come face to face with the brutality of war until they win or die, while simultaneously fighting their own personal battles. No one will emerge unscathed.

This book should come with a health warning! I couldn't put it down so I burnt some midnight oil over several evenings reading it. Breathes new life in to the traditional WW2 novel with this female GI insight. Terrible indignity the black Americans had to put up with, almost a war within a war. I get the feeling a sequel will follow and we hope to follow the girls when D-Day gets underway.

Just like the first book in the series 'Frontlines', this is a compelling and insightful look at war from female perspectives. The stories of Frangie, Rainy and Rio continue in a fast -paced and gripping plot with just the right combination of action and emotion! Thoroughly enjoyable and I will recommend this to readers of all ages.

Very harrowing book. Gave a brilliant insight to girl soldiers in the 2 world war especially where coloured soldiers and girls were treated. Not usually into that type of book but thoroughly enjoyed reading it even the very descriptive parts of soldier's injuries
