Absolutely LOVE Kerry's books so I just HAD to read this one. Oh my god it was so gripping, from start to end and kept me on the edge of my seat!

This is the fourth book in a series, and not having read the previous 3 books, I still think this book reads nicely as a standalone and I didn't miss much references to the previous books. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book! Recommended.

The development of the relationship between Jackson and TJ felt 'real', and so did the internal monologue of the killer, although I haven't actually been inside a sadistic serial killer's head so I could be wrong. It was a frightening place, thanks for the nightmares, Kerry!

The development of TJ and Jackson relationship, and their character development lightened the narrative somewhat. The depiction of troubled Matthew and abused Sally is sensitive and intelligent.

The first half was difficult going, as I mentioned above, but the second half flew by, as the investigation ramped up and the killer is slowly trapped by the evidence. The details of the police answer CSI procedures and interactions seem real, especially the references to budget cuts and staffing problems.

There was maybe a touch too much over explanation of TJ's fainting fits. But that was the only negative thing I felt.

KA Richardson is one of my favourite authors I’ve read and loved all of her books but in my opinion this is the darkest and creepiest so far and it kept me absolutely hooked the whole way and kept me awake reading long into the early hours of the morning absolutely twisted and brilliant and 5 huge stars as always from me !!!!!

Many thanks to NetGalley and KA Richardson for the ARC of Under The Woods my review is totally honest and unbiased in any way.

The Blurb:

When a homeless woman, Cheryl Whiffen, hears voices in her head telling her to do bad things, she can’t help but obey.

But when Cheryl becomes the victim of a serial killer who is collecting angels, this time the voices can’t help her. She is deemed not worthy of being an angel and the killer has to find another way to dispose of her body.

TJ Tulley has connections in the police force – her brother Jacob is a digital forensic analyst and her soon to be sister-in-law is a CSI. She knows many of their colleagues so when someone breaks into her house at the riding stables she owns, it’s not a surprise when the police dispatch CSI Jackson Doherty.

Is there a link between a suspicious fire at the stables and the serial killer?

As TJ and Doherty get closer to the truth they don’t realise the danger they are in. He is a killer – he’s angry at their investigation and he’ll do just about anything to protect his angels…

I haven't read any of K A Richardson's books before, and possibly starting with Book 4 in a series wasn't the best idea. Saying that, I still really enjoyed the book. It started off slowly, and nothing appeared related; but once it got going it really exploded! I loved this book and am now off to find the others in the series! 5*

First time I've read a book by KA Richardson and I loved it, loved the main characters and how it kept me pulled into the story , and I can relate to the main character TJ because I also have margarines and have a touch of TMJ in my left jaw, that acts up some times when my jaw gets cold. But the one thing I loved about TJ was how she never gives up because of her injury and her love of horses ,another thing I love was the slow romance, with that said I would love to say thinks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read and review Under The Woods in change for my honest opinion .

This dark and twisted story is part of a series. I have not read the books that were written previous to this one, but still enjoyed this book immensely.

I found this an intriguing read and read in two sittings. i enjoyed that the story wsd told through the eyes of the different characters. The characters were believable as well as the relationships between them, I think this was because of the clearly thought out links and background stories from the author.

I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes police procedural and thrillers.

Die Geschichte ist athmosphärisch dicht, düster und spannend bis zum Schluß. Die etwas andere Art von Krimi/Thriller.

I am a massive fan of this author's books so when I saw that she had a new releases I jumped at the chance to read it - and I am so glad I did - it is brilliant!!

I was hooked right from the first page as we are thrown straight in to the story and I was held right until the very end. I loved the plot, pace and characterisation which really brought the story to life.
Whilst this is the fourth book in the series you would be fine to read it as a stand alone but honestly if you do get the chance, read the other books they are excellent!

No hesitation in giving the book 5 stars - very highly recommended!!

Brilliant. A fast paced thriller that I read in one sitting. Really well put together and full of suspense it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Everything seemed so real and I had shivers down my spine. I could imagine the setting and the characters. I was totally surprised by who the perpetrator was. I had no idea. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I will definitely be looking for the other books in the series.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

My review is written with thanks to Sarah Hardy at Bloodhound Books for inviting me to take part, and for my copy of the book via Netgalley.
Sally Amari is homeless, and she is missing her friend, Cheryl, who is also living on the streets. When Sally reports Cheryl missing, the last thing she expects is to be kidnapped herself. Meanwhile, TJ Tulley is getting used to life as the owner of Rainbow Stables, and is shocked when she discovers a fire and acts of vandalism on her property. Could Sally's disappearance and the events at the stables be connected?
Under The Woods is not for the faint hearted. The prologue shows the killer crouching beside a woman shortly after killing her, and from that point onwards, the novel becomes more and more tense. There are several chapters in the novel written from the viewpoint of the killer, and it was both fascinating and disturbing to be given the opportunity to understand the killer's mindset and his feelings towards the victims, whom he nicknames his "angels." I loved the chilling atmosphere Richardson creates, and I'm struggling to shake off the creepy feeling with which this novel left me.
The character of TJ is a character to whom I felt able to warm. She has an intriguing back story, and her connection to the police through her brother, Jacob, is an innovative way of bringing the two strands of the plot together.
Under The Woods is the fourth book in the Forensic Files series. It does hold its own as a standalone, but I would be interested to learn more about the police officers in the novel from its predecessors.

I knew from the cover and the title that this was going to be dark and creepy but I didn't realise just how much it would unnerve me. I haven't read any of the previous books in the series so I can definitely say that this book can be read as a standalone, although there are a few references to previous events that I suspect happened in the earlier books. It didn't affect my enjoyment of this book in any way as the author is so skilled at seamlessly weaving enough of the back-story into the narrative to flesh out the characters I was encountering for the first time.

TJ Tully wants to expand her riding stables into the woods surrounding her property but somebody already thinks of the woods as their own and they have invested lots of time in burying their 'angels' under the woods. The killer will do anything to keep this special place as there are still angels to collect and bury there. TJ seems to have a run of bad luck after a break in and a fire threaten to destroy her stables but there is worse to come and even her angry busybody neighbour can't escape the cruel hand of Lady (Bad) Luck.

CSI Jackson Doherty has a lot on his plate; Jackson is called on to investigate the strange events at TJ's stables but he can't seem to escape his personal life. After a one night stand, he's landed himself with a stalker, Nikki. Nikki seems to know his every movements and turns up at the most unlikely of places when she perceives TJ to be a threat to her happily ever after with Jackson. I loved this aspect to the story; Nikki is an absolute fruitcake!

What I loved about Under the Woods (apart from it being set in my native North East) is that you don't have to wait until the end for a big reveal; the killer is revealed about two thirds of the way through. You might expect the pace to drop after that but it is actually the complete opposite as the danger levels seemed to increase to epic proportions. Once I knew who was collecting these 'angels', I felt as if the story became even more creepy (if that's even possible, as it's pretty creepy to start with). I felt my heart rate quicken and I even began holding my breath at times as the killer's confidence seemed to grow as time went on.

With K.A. Richardson's remarkable attention to gruesome detail, Under the Woods is a Creepfest with a capital C; I can feel my heart pounding just thinking about it. It's one of those books that you live and breathe with every page and definitely one to read with all the lights on or you'll find yourself jumping at shadows. K.A. Richardson's Under the Woods totally creeped me out and I enjoyed every minute of it. I certainly won't be going down to the woods anytime soon.

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Happy publication day! I’ve done it again.. Under the Woods is book four in the forensic files series. This is the first book I have read by KA Richardson but nevertheless have all her others waiting patiently on my kindle. It reads well as a standalone but I will be going back to read this series from the start at some point.

A cleverly written story that had me gripped until the last page. Brilliant. Very impressed. This story does contain some dark parts throughout. I felt sorry for poor Cheryl! Must admit one of the main characters in this story THE KILLER is one sick, twisted character! A highly recommended read from me, I look forward to reading the previous 3 books if they’re as good as this one! Thrilling. A well deserved four stars.

Under The Woods is book #4 of The Forensic Files series and my first K.A. Richardson read. This book is able to be read as a standalone but I definitely want to go back and read the first three books in the series. The prologue piqued my interest right away as the story starts with a sick freak with a woman hostage.

The antagonist in the story targets women who he feels won’t be missed and tortures them. He calls them his angels and eventually kills them. The story alternates from the killer’s point of view and TJ, the protagonist. The author provides the reader with some of the killer’s backstory which is not something that you always get to read about. I had narrowed the suspect down to a couple of choices and the identity was revealed fairly early.

I loved this fast paced police thriller. The author kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I recommend this book and give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you K.A. Richardson and Bloodhound Books for providing me with a copy of this book to read.

This is the fourth book in the forensics file series set in the North East of England. As with the previous books it can be read as a standalone as they are all different but characters from previous books do appear.
If you like your crime fiction dark and creepy then look no further, this will more than satisfy your needs.

When her friend Cheryl is taken from the streets, Sally begs the police to investigate but unwittingly becomes a target for a serial killer who is collecting angels.

Meanwhile, forced to changed career paths due to a devastating attack, TJ has embraced her new role as owner of Rainbow Riding Stables. TJ thinks she’s put the past behind her but after a break in at her house and stables she’s meets CSI Jackson Docherty and together they must find out who is targetting her.

This is the fourth book in this series but the first I’ve read and while some of the characters are recurring from earlier books, I would say this works perfectly well as a stand-alone.

Under The Woods is dark and disturbing novel, set in the North East of England, that puts you inside the mind of a really twisted serial killer. The story focuses more on the CSI/forensic investigation which I found was a nice change than the usual police procedurals.

There were a lot of strong female characters like TJ and Sally who have both been through so much but won’t go down without a fight. I also liked the romance between TJ and Jackson, their chemistry really crackled off the page.

I’m not going to call this book a nail biter, but it really pulls you with the great characters and compelling story that makes you not want to put it down. I don’t want to say too much more in case I end up giving away spoilers!

If I had one issue it was the whole Jackson’s getting stalked by his crazy ex girlfriend storyline. All he seemed to do was shout at her (I’m sorry how many times does shouting at a deranged person actually work?), I just don’t think it really added to the story but that of course is just my opinion.

Overall a darkly disturbing modern thriller that will keep you enthralled throughout.
