It is always nice to visit the Isle of Mure to catch up with the locals of Jenny Colgan's series. With the countdown to Christmas this is a nice, friendly read. Not as festive as some Christmas based novels it is a good read for those who follow series. If this is the first book you have read of hers, you would benefit from reading the others beforehand for the backstories and emotions.

Will not be giving a published review.

This sounded like a beautiful tale and the writing was exquisite. However after a few pages it became clear that this book was not for.

Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the short - a perfect book for someone else

Jenny Colgan's done it again! There is nothing as cozy and comforting as this series, and the Christmas edition does not fail to deliver! Engaging, entertaining, and most importantly heartwarming, this book is exactly what a reader needs in the lead up to the holiday season!

An Island Christmas hooked me in from the first few pages, I felt I had moved onto the island I was immersed in their lives.
Jenny Colgan does not disappoint, another fab book. Hoping there’s another instalment to the series.

I've enjoyed all the 'island' series and am already looking forward to the next one (I hope there is a next one).

I love Jenny's style of writing and am invested in the characters and want it all to work out for them and for them to be happy. It's a lovely story and one I hope will continue.

I adore Christmas-themed novels, books by Jenny Colgan, and sequels, so this was a winner even before I opened it 😊

It was lovely to be back on the island of Mure again, and especially at Christmastime.

Flora runs the seaside café and is in a relationship with Joel, although it’s slightly fragile due to his background. How will he react to her news? Lorna is in love with Saif, a refugee doctor, but can he return her love?

A lovely, heartwarming read to get you in the mood for Christmas!

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

I love my visits to the Island of Mure. I feel I know Flora and her family very well. Agot is still my favourite character (for a small child she has a big presence). Jenny Colgan always makes me want to do a load of baking and hibernate over the winter. Fintan and Colton had me sobbing into my cushion their relationship is beautiful. I will never get tired of this island communities problems, happiness and relationships.

Another fab book in this series. It was so lovely to be back on Mure and seeing what Flora and everyone else have been up to. I am pretty sure this is my favourite book in the series.

Loved it! We travel to the Hebrides, the island of Mure where flora runs a cafe. We meet a whole host of moody, funny, warm and wonderful characters. All of whom suffer from the human condition which Jenny portrays so well! You want to snuggle under the covers and read just another page, just to the end of the chapter, just one more chapter. It is wonderful!

Oh how I loved this book ! - and how wonderful it was to return to the island of mure and catch up with the wonderful characters I first encountered in Jenny’s previous book ‘The endless beach’.
Although I do wonder if someone who had not read the previous novel would be as invested in the characters as much because so much happened in the last book and this feels like an exstension of that, albeit a wonderful one.
I would there fore recommend reading the endless beach prior to this as it’s a beautifully written series with characters you really care about and when it ends you want more from.
Flora who owns the seaside kitchen cafe has discovered she is pregnant but how will American lawyer Joel feel about it considering they haven’t been together long ?
Teacher Lorna is in love with the island doctor and refugee Sieff , but he still hopes that his wife will be found after they were torn apart by war. Living with his 2 sons on mure island, he feels he can’t move on until he has some answers.
And finally we catch up with Coltan and Fintan who after getting their happy ever after and getting married are now dealing with the awful prospect of being torn apart by the diagnosis of coltans cancer.
This is a really lovely book that made me feel all Christmassy and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect Christmas read. I only hope that we get another instalment and get to revisit mure island again soon.

I have previously read the other books in this series, and enjoyed them. This is book 4, and I think that the previous books in the series should be read first to get full enjoyment from them.
I always enjoy Jenny's books, they are always a pleasure to read, and I love to see what happens next to the characters, each book leaves you wanting to know what happens nexr. This book is no exception. I really hope that there will be another book set in Mure.

Flora has a lot on her mind, she has just found out that she is pregnant, and while she is very hapoy, she is not sure that her boyfriend Joel will react. She is also trying to organise a big family Christmas, knowing that it is very likely to be her brother-in-laws last Christmas. Meanwhile, the Island Doctor Saif misses his missing wife, and is trying his best to give his Sons a good first Christmas, even though he is not sure how. He is not sure whether he should stay living in Mure, as he has feelings of guilt and grief that he is trying to get on with life without his wife.
The setting in Mure is lovely, especially at Christmas time. This book is heartening and romantic. It has a lovely feeling in community spirit, with everyone helping out. There are parts of this book which are very sad, but they are dealt with in a well written and sympathetic way. The Title is short, and doesn't give much away, but this is a brilliant book, and I really hope that it's not the end of the series.

This is a first for me by this author... but it won't be the last.

I didn't realise it was part of a series, but that didn't matter as it read well as a stand-alone story.

Christmas on the remote Scottish island of Mure is bleak, stark - and incredibly beautiful.

It's a time for hunkering down, getting cosy in front of whisky barrel wood fires, and enjoying a dram with the people you love - unless, of course, you're accidentally pregnant to your ex-boss, and don't know how to tell him. In what should be the season of peace and goodwill on earth, will Joel think Flora is a bearer of glad tidings?

Meanwhile Saif, the doctor and refugee from war-torn Syria is trying to enjoy his first western Christmas with his sons - but without his missing wife. Can the little family possibly find comfort and joy?

A beautiful written book... that deals with hard issues (refugees, cancer, pregnancy), but is also fun to read.

An easy but enjoyable read... I'll be looking for the first two in the series as I'm intrigued by the other characters, and am looking forward to hopefully more in the series.

Thank-You Netgalley for my ARC.

An Island Christmas is the next instalment in this series in which we revisit Flora and her friends and family on the small island of Mure.

I have really enjoyed this series, the characters are lovely and we get to know them and gain further insight into their lives in this instalment.

Jenny Colgan has a way of making you feel like you know her characters and in this story she deals with illness, family tension, relationships and grief. Another brilliant book that I have read in just under a day as I have enjoyed it so much

The latest book in this series set on the Island of Mure. I found it quite an emotional read, but hoping there will be more in this series.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a beautiful story to curl up with and forget about the world for a few hours. I loved the characters and the scenery and the overwhelming feelings of love and friendship. I was sad to get to the end of this book. I hope there are more to come in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

This is the third book in the Mure Island series, and whilst it can be read as a standalone, you will not get the feel of the island in my opinion if you have not picked up The Summer at the Seaside Kitchen, Endless Beach and also a QuickRead book A Very Distant shore.

I was ready to pounce when this was released, so was delighted to be able to read it thanks to the publisher and netgalley.

Mure is a remote Scottish Island where all the action is set. And with Christmas approaching, it is place where you cannot get more remote as the weather sets in and the landscape changes to that of a winter wonderland. If you want to experience, the power of weather as you take refuge in front of log burning fires, with the ones you love and delicious food then this is the place to be.

Flora, who returned to the island has settled back into life as an islander. Her new relationship with American lawyer Joel is still very up and down. The island knows how to celebrate with Christmas coming and Flora's home is used as the base for the islands party. How can you party and be pregnant and have not told the father? Flora is full of emotions and she has undeniable strength which she is going to need to call on.

The refugee doctor, Saif and his two young boys are still settling down on the island and they are very much becoming part of the island - so much so that they have starring roles in the school nativity. But the casting angers Saif and he cannot see anyway of staying on the island. Then a phone call about his wife comes through, perhaps it is time to move on.

This book is packed full of emotion and within the darkness of some of the plot strands and the landscape and weather, there is an inevitable lightness which sees you through. It is a cleverly skilled author who can manage the both with success. It is all here in abundance. I could say more, but to do so would ruin it for you.

Whilst perhaps, the series could come to an end. I really hope it does not. I was fascinated by the community life, the remoteness of the island, the weather and the characters that the author has created.

All of this series are excellent reads and if you can have the joy of starting at the beginning and powering through all of them you will have a wonderful experience and be desperate to experience Mure for yourself, if only for a holiday!

I haven't read the first two in this island series from Jenny Colgan but that didn't matter as I soon caught up with who the characters were and their relationships to each other. I enjoyed reading the descriptions of this small tight knit community and engaged enough with the characters that a few tears were shed at different points in the story. A good cosy read now that the weather is starting to become distinctly autumnal.

I must admit I love Jenny Colgan books but she seems to have dropped off my radar for a little while, but I am glad to say I'm back on track with her wonderful books! I think the main reason she dropped off my radar is because a few of her books have different titles for the same book and I get very irritated with publishers when they do that. You get all excited to read what you think is a new book by a favourite author only to find it's one you've already bought and read. Very deceiving and it really gets my back up.

This book is the third in this series, and although I do wish I'd read them in order I am still looking forward to going back to read the other two and seeing how the characters have got the point they're at in this book.

Flora lives on Mure and runs the Seaside Kitchen, a cafe which sounded lovely and welcoming. Her boyfriend, although he doesn't seem to think of himself as that initially, is Joel who is an American and has quite a few issues from his childhood to overcome, which from the sound of things were also addressed in previous books. He was quite hard work but a major issue later in the book gave him the kick up the behind he needed to realise what he had and appreciate it more and not worry quite so much.

There are a few quite heavy issues going on in this book and yet, even though it was extremely sad in parts, it was just such a compelling reading, with humorous bits too. The characters are (mostly!) just so relatable. I even warmed to Tripp, Colton's estranged brother, who turned up unexpectedly and was a real idiot to start with.

There are definitely a couple of unresolved issues by the end of this book with a few of the characters so I can only hope that there are more books planned in this series as I for one will most definitely be reading them. Very easy reading, one of those 'just more one chapter' books for me that I was sad to finish.

A nice light read, a great cast of characters and a beautiful setting mixed in with some harsher issues make this a thoroughly enjoyable book.
