I am quite a conservative drinker in that it's either a glass of red wine or a G&T. But I have always loved the idea of being able to make fun and impressive cocktails. So what better inspiration than the classic that is 'Alice in Wonderland'. I loved how Perry and Rosser illustrated this book and how the frame of Alice in Wonderland wasn't just a front. The cocktail recipes really fit with the novel, with its story and its weirdness and its vivacity. This will be perfect for Wonderland lovers but also for those who adore the art of cocktail making!

I loved this cocktail recipe books. Recipes were unique and appealed to my love for Alice in Wonderland. This book would be a good recommendation for anyone who likes other literary reference cookbooks such as Tequila Mockingbird.

This was such a cute book that I couldn't wait to share some of the recipes with my friends. I really enjoyed the variety of cocktails and the lay out of the pages. I would highly suggest this for a fun gift or even just to get oneself.

A must for mixologists who have a fondness for Alice in Wonderland. This book inspired me to host an Alice in Wonderland themed party and I am certain you will want to do the same because some of these cocktails are amazing!

This was a fun book to read and the premise is original. However the drinks are overly complicated and I would probably not be making any drinks included. The authors do include a lot of information on cocktails. I would have liked to have seen some illustrations of the fancy drinks. This book would make a nice gift for an Alice in Wonderland fan. Enjoy

This is such a fun book and one that I can totally see just having out on my coffee table for guests to leaf through. Of course, it's perfect for fans of Alice in Wonderland, but I honestly think any cocktail lover would really appreciate this one. The cocktails are all fun and whimsical, and so different than anything I've seen before.

Many of the drinks contain ingredients you likely won't have in your bar and you may have to do some hunting to find them. That's OK, though, since that obviously means these drinks are super unique and will be unlike any you or your guests have had before. There are lots of recipes for alcohol infusions here, including a cake frosting vodka and a toffee syrup... Yum!! There are also some very interesting techniques (like burning sage and using the smoke in a cocktail).

I do wish the book had photos of the actual cocktails since they're so unique-sounding and likely would be stunning to see. But for the most part, I'm totally tempted to throw an Alice in Wonderland party just so I can whip a few of these up for my friends!

I was a little bit skeptical about this when I started reading the drink recipes, as there were a lot of fancy syrups involved and I hate it when a drink looks amazing but I can't possibly find the ingredients to easily make it at home. My worries were soothed, however, when I discovered that there are straightforward recipes for each of the syrups, as well as instructions for making all of the infused vodkas the recipes include. There's also a nice little guide to various liquors at the beginning of the book for folks who aren't already well-acquainted with various types. A very nicely put together little volume.

Not your normal cocktail recipe book. This one puts a fun spin on mixing drinks. Not only do you get the cocktail recipes but you also get tips and tricks for mixing the perfect drink.

This book tosses you into the middle of Alice and Wonderland, or should. I say the hip bar there. The cocktails are crafted for the characters of the book with fun names and fun or "magical" ingredients.

This would make a great addition to any home bar and would make a fun addition to parties. There are over 20 recipes in this book to choose from or heck just try them all.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.

I love literary themed cookbooks and cocktail books! This Alice in Wonderland themed cocktail book has lovely graphics and design. I wish I could give it five stars, but I wanted to see more pictures of the actual cocktails.

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland by Nick Perry and Paul Rosser offers readers a selection of twenty cocktails inspired by Alice in Wonderland as well as some cocktail bars that you might want to visit. Every page of this beautifully designed book includes charming illustrations for the completed madcap drinks .Drink Me! also includes definitive list of the "most curious cocktail bars" you need to visit, and the best ingredients to use with each recipe.

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland starts off with a helpful guide to spirits, including how they are made and their variety of flavors. Tools and terminology is also explained, which will make cocktail making for novices like myself have an easier time successfully creating tasty cocktails. I am not a big drinker, and rarely experiment, but the combination of literature, whimsy, and alcohol made me want to try out this book. I like that everything is laid out and explained, so I have no surprises once I get started making the recipes. Not all of the recipes help appeal to me, in fact the idea of an "Off With Her Head" made me cringe because of the flavors it was described as having, but very next recipe (The Golden Afternoon) sounded very tasty. Like any recipe book, some results might take some practice and others are hits right off the bat. The batch recipes were the most interesting to me, since simple syrups and liqueurs can be used in a wide variety of recipes. I think this is a great way for novices to explore drink making, and those already experienced to expand their repertoire. An ideal book for those planning a themed dinner or cocktail party, or that simply want to learn to make these drinks and those like them.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a neat little book and the drink recipes look really intriguing. They also look somewhat involved.
The author does a great job of relating each drink to the story of Alice in Wonderland and each one has it's own explanation. The process used, the materials, and the garnish are all explained really well. There are some really interesting ingredients...some I'm not sure that I would ever have in a drink (Turkey vodka) but I definitely wouldn't say no if someone were to put the drink in front of me to try.

It was very creative and I would recommend for any bartender or drink enthusiast looking for something a bit on the wild side.

If you are an Alice in Wonderland fan and also love unique cocktails, this is the book for you. Each drink has clear instructions and a full list of ingredients so it's easy and fun to try to recreate at home. Everything ties in so well with the theme and feels like it is extension of Carroll's book. The only thing that this book needs is a small section in the back called "Eat Me" with snacks.

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Rock Point Publishing and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully mine!

After reading, and loving, Tarot of Cocktails I was very excited to get a copy of this from NetGalley.

Drink Me is a cute little book, sitting at around 144 pages.  Right away I liked that the cocktail directions were very detailed. The step by step directions were great, but still it seemed like the drinks were a little over-complicated. This book is not for the beginner cocktail makers that's for sure. One recipe called for you to burn sage leaves and trap the smoke in a glass and then add the cocktail on top. All that for a drink? Sorry I'm not going to be doing that at home!

Despite that there were a few recipes that looked delicious. And I did like that there were recipes for infused alcohol at the back of the book. Infusing is something that I would love to try someday.

In the end I gave this book 3 stars. It was cute, but not exactly the kind of cocktail book I want for home drinking. It's not practical that's for sure! But it has a lot of whimsy and could be fun for a specific time.

It's hard to rate this book as I don't really know who the audience is. Are there really that many Alice in Wonderland booze lovers out there? The book offers a large collection of Wonderland themed cocktails, but they generally require quite a well stocked liquor cabinet and/or specialty ingredients. They do sound tasty, but I'm not sure I'd go to the trouble to make more than one or two, if that.

Here are a few examples of drinks, so you can judge for yourself if this is a good fit for you.

Curiouser and Curacao: calls for burnt peach puree (recipe provided), Bulleit bourbon whiskey, orange Curacao, Bob's orange and mandarin bitters, one burnt peach slice, and nutmeg.

The Caterpillar's Hookah: calls for Talisker 10 year single malt scotch whiskey, fino sherry, lemon and sage syrup (recipe provided), fresh sage leaves, and crispy sage garnish (recipe provided).

I do like the recipes at the end for staples like bloody mary mix and vanilla vodka. I was happy to see a recipe to make orange curacao, but it calls for bitter orange curacao peel so I think that one is still out for me. Many of those recipes call for too many ingredients and ones that are too hard for me to locate, but it's a nice feature. Some of those are definitely unique and may be fun for some, like buttered toast infused rum and vanilla bean and cake frosting infused vodka, plus recipes that infuse vodka with meat like turkey and pancetta.

The book is illustrated with whimsical designs on every page but few photos. The photos that are provided tend to be for the staples in the end and tend to be artistic instead of helpful (meaning there are artsy pictures of the ingredients perhaps, but few photos of actual finished recipes).

The book also provides some good basic information on drink making, liquor and liqueurs. It could be a great gift for someone who either really loves mixing cocktails or wants to start seriously learning to make specialty drinks.

I read a temporary ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

Fabulous book that is lovely to look at and read ,a must for grown up Alice in Wonderland fans . This will be a lovely book to gift to someone ,if you can bear to part with it ,very cleverly thought out . I must confess I’ve not tried the cocktails yet as some of the ingredients may take some sourcing ( or I shall look at substitutes) I did however make one of the syrups to pour over a cake - worked beautifully. I’m not bothered that event photos of the finished cocktails that way ,like Alice you, can use your imagination to present them in a way that suits you and the occasion

Loved the uniqueness of this title. Anyone looking for a perfect coffee (or liquor) table book or those who are fans of all things Alice then this is a great addition to your collection. Some drinks might be too much for those with a smaller bar, but I think it would still be enjoyable.

Previous cocktail books confused me. I have never worked in a bar so was unfamiliar with the terms and where to get basic ingredients or how to make some of the specials mixes. This book has everything explained in easy to understand terms. The techniques section is invaluable to expand your entertaining skills. Once Perry explains how to do something he moves on in section II with cocktail recipes. Names like The Mushroom, Pig and Pepper, and Queen's Tart while whimsical look delicious and would make any party a hit. Next comes the batch recipe section that explain the basic syrups, mixes and infusions. You can not go wrong with this book it is so much more than a themed cocktail recipe book, it is a primer for learning bar tending techniques.

Thank you to by Nick Perry, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, and NetGalley for allowing me the extreme pleasure of access to an advanced reader copy of “Drink Me!: Curious Cocktails From Wonderland” for an honest review.

I love, love, LOVE cookbooks, and sweets books, and drink books that have a classic theme — and who more than Alice in Wonderland deserves one. This book was delightful from cover to cover. The cocktails themselves look divine in all the art we get, and they taste just as great when they are made.

This is going to be perfect for my friend who loves Alice in Wonderland and throws a tea party every year.

(My only sadness is that there weren’t any suggested “Eat Me” treats listed with each of the drinks, furthering the theme and parallel’s to the novel. It would have been so cutely done, and could easily be just as classical and contemporary. Maybe they’ll make a follow up on this?)

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland would make a cool gift for your drinking fans who love Alice in Wonderland. The drink recipes are creative, but use an extensive list of specialized items.
The first section of the book is a helpful list of tips, tools, and techniques that apply to the specific drinks in the book, as well as for general home-bartending. Next up is the cocktail recipes themselves; each is creative and ties in to the book, but without fail all use at least one, and often more, ingredient that most home bars would not have on hand. Finally there is a section on batches, with simple instructions of creating your own syrups, liqueurs, infused spirits, and more.
There are no pictures of any of the fancy drinks, though there are some pictures included unnecessarily in the last section.

I knew some cocktails were going to be a bit over the top, but it's Alice in Wonderland we are talking about and I am so happy someone took the time to transform elements from Alice in Wonderland into cocktails! I even saved a couple to make myself.

Here's what I really liked: the craziness and the cocktails, the pages about how to make syrups and flavoured vodkas and gin.

Here's what I wanted differently: the layout of the pages - for most cocktails it was okay with the story/character element on one page and the cocktail on the other, but when the cocktail had more ingredients or direction it merged into the story element page and it was not fun anymore - my solution? Just do the cocktail on two separate pages and then add an illustration or photo to keep the layout. Also, I really wished to see pictures with these cocktails in the book and I think it would have been amazing to have whimsical Alice in Wonderland inspired background with these cocktails.
