Nick Perry's book, Drink Me, is a refreshing and innovative book of cocktails. I loved the recipes and for all mixologists this is a book that will add some creative cocktails to your repertoire. Each recipe is fairly easy to follow and make.
The book is divided into three sections. Part one is an introductory section talking about cocktail basics with everything from equipment to garnishes to spirts. Part two is Cocktails and Part three is recipes for syrups, purees and juices, and dehydrating fruit for garnishes.
The names of the cocktails certainly were appropriate for the Alice in Wonderland theme with such drinks as Off With Her Head, Digging for Apples, Pool of Tears, White Rabbit, Cup of Mad Tea, Pig and Pepper, and The Queen's Tart.
If you like making creative cocktails, this book is for you or perhaps a gift for someone that will make the cocktails for you instead. Enjoy!

This is an interesting cocktail book. The authors and designers have done a great job making the recipes sound like they belong in the world of Wonderland. Their goal is to help anyone “create a boozy tea party” . As a relatively non-drinker I cannot tell if the recipes are actually good. I pick drinks by pictures, which this book is severely lacking. You only get real picture half way through when the author starts talking about making syrups and liquors. There are no pictures for the individual drinks, which is a same as the pictures are great.

This book was so much fun! I was first pulled into this book bc i have a mad love affair for all things alice in wonderland! I havent tried all the drink recipes in this book but the ones i have tried have been wonderful! super easy to follow! I wouldnt necessarily say these are cheap drinks to make but if you have basics on hand already than its not too pricey.

I really liked this book! As someone who not only enjoys drinking cocktails but also making them, I thought this book provided a ton of useful information whether you are a beginner or expect mixologist. I thought the Alice in Wonderland theme was brilliant and as I sit here on a rainy day, it is taking all of my restraint to not run to the store and get some of these ingredients to make some of these cocktails. I also really like that there are recipes for all the syrups and bases for many of the cocktails. A lot of stores sell mixers but they are loaded with chemicals and ingredients you cannot even pronounce. I like that I have the option to make every component of the cocktail from scratch so that I know exactly what is going into it. The book is easy to read and follow and I will definitely be testing out some of these recipes! I'm most excited to make "Off With Her Head!", it looks delicious!

Seeing “Alice in Wonderland” inspired drinks was expected from the title of the book. The real treat is that the book has recipes for various syrups and step-by-step instructions for mixology techniques. Ever heard of fat-washing to put flavor in an alcoholic beverage? This book talks about it. This book is a great buy for people who love the work of Lewis Carroll and for people who want to learn a little bit about making cocktails.

When the first recipe is for a cocktail entitled "Off With Her Head" I know I have stumbled into a fun book! There's also "Caterpillar's Hookah", "Curiouser and Curacao", "Cup of Mad Tea", "Painting the Roses Red", and "Beware the Jabberwocky". Really I could just keep listing them because all the cocktail titles are amazing and each one is accompanied by a quote to show just where the name came from.

The book is divided into several sections. The first is information - the different alcohols, liqueurs, and tools, at the end is batch recipes for things like sugar syrup that you can make in a large batch and then use for several different cocktails. The real fun is the 2nd section with all the different cocktail recipes. I'm a sucker for a good theme and this one is gloriously themed! I enjoyed flipping through this, reading the quotes, and seeing the different combinations for each cocktail. While I do love ordering a good cocktail at restaurants at home I'm not much of a drinker so I probably won't be making these for myself but I'm on the lookout for someone who will throw an Alice themed party and make a few of these for me! I think I'll start with a Cup of Mad Tea!

A very unique and interesting book for fans of cocktails and Alice in Wonderland, which I believe encompasses a wide range of people!

I really enjoyed this book. It contains a large number of cocktail recipes, each of which are based on a particular character or scene from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland story.

The recipes are absolutely intriguing. I like how the characters or the feelings from the book have been applied to different flavours and looks of the drinks. These are original ideas and definitely not the usual offerings in any old
bar's cocktail menu. The few I have tried are also delicious.

There is also good information in here about different glasses, techniques and ingredients needed to make the cocktails, and it is a very useful guide to people like me who have no idea what they are doing and generally just chuck things together into any old glass. It's a really great learning tool if you are interested in making 'proper' cocktails, and I like the idea they propose about having an Alice-themed cocktail party to show off your new found skills to all your friends. I have no doubt they would be thoroughly impressed.

What a beautiful Alice in wonderland themed cocktail book. The cocktail recipes sound delicious and I am sure my mixologist hubby will be making a few of them over the Christmas. Period. This book would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for someone who loves cocktails and is excited to try new recepies. Overall a beautiful little book, thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the digital advance review copy. I actually may buy my hubby the hard copy as a stocking filler..

I used to bartend years ago, but even though I remembered old drink concoctions, this book was awesome, as I now have new drinks I can make for others.

When I saw this book for the first time I knew I just had to read it and see what fun Alice in Wonderland drinks I could come up with!

It's got so many different recipes with whimsical names such as Un-BirthdayCake Martini, White Rabbit, Cup of Mad Tea, and Off with Her Head.

These recipes are simple to follow and are fun to make but the best part is enjoying the delicious drinks!

The theme of this book is based off of Lewis Carroll's story 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ Fans of Alice will go simply mad over this book, I sure did!

This book is highly strange and filled will different cocktails you may see served by the Red Queen, The Mad Hatter at his infamous Tea Parties and it even includes some delicious infused recipes throughout for your enjoyment.

In this book you will get recipes for cocktails, batch recipes, and everything in-between. You’ll get information on the correct glasses to use for your cocktail, techniques, equipment, and a host of other things to make you the life of the party.

This book was given to me for review purposes and the thoughts above are my own. These are my honest thoughts and feelings towards this book. Here is one of weirdly but delicious cocktails you’ll find in the book. If this tickles your fancy then you’ll be quite surprised to see the others in store when you grab your own copy.

PIG and PEPPER

Makes 1 Cocktail

~Ingredients~
1 Slice of Crispy Pancetta
1 oz (30ml) Pancetta and Pink Peppercorn Vodka
1 oz (30ml) Bloody Mary Mix (Recipe on Page 122)

~Method~
1. Pan-fry a thin slice of pancetta in a dry skillet over medium heat until crispy and charred. Reserve. 2. Pour the vodka and Bloody Mary mix into a mixing glass with an ice cube, stir to chill, then strain into a 2-ounce (60ml) shot glass. 3. Lay the slice of pancetta over the glass as a garnish, using a cocktail stick to help it sit on the rim if required.

In the book there is a cute quote and an explanation telling how and why the cocktail was created if you want to find out more go out and get you a copy.

A small cocktail book (140 pages) that packs a punch. Creative, unusual and super cool recipes that reference quotes from the world of Alice in Wonderland (White Rabbit, Off With Her Head, The Caterpillar’s Hookah). The author hit his mark when he wrote that he wanted to create “a perfect selection of drinks for a spirit-soaked Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.”

It might be a bit risky to create one of the more involved recipes only to find out it isn’t your cup of tea. For example, Drink Me (cake frosting infused vodka, buttered toast infused rum, turkey rum - recipes all included) includes a significant amount of customized booze to have to pour down the drain. The solution of course is to have a Mad Hatter’s tea party and ask guests to each bring an ingredient!

There are plenty of recipes that can be made with little effort/cash starting with the syrups, liqueurs and infused spirits that can become basic pantry staples. A great gift for bar staffers and home spirit crafters who are looking to ramp up experimentation.

This is a beautifully illustrated and designed little book.
This book is great for the Alice in Wonderland fanatic, someone looking to create a fun tipsy tea party, or someone that just enjoys fun drinks. The first part of the book does a great job breaking down what you need to know and then goes into the drinks with appropriately titled Wonderland related drinks, each tying into Carroll’s magically weird world.
Fun, beautiful book. I’ll definitely be making a couple of these drinks myself.

Really lovely book and a perfect gift for any Alice in Wonderland lover - or for a themed party with Halloween not too far away now.

I really liked how the guide was laid out, with the key items and ingredients nicely detailed at the front and the much needed liqueurs at the back. The recipes seem straight forward enough to make, both the cocktails and syrups sound delicious. I'm already planning for a girl's night in.

My only little bugbear - which can be ignored if it's just an issue with the PDF download - was that I found it a little curious that the syrups had photos next to them and the cocktails didn't. So much so that a quote from the novel ran through my mind, but I'll spare us from saying it. The book is beautifully laid out and it really doesn't matter that much but as a personal preference I do like to see whatever it is I'm trying to make in this type of book.

Overall, though, I do think it's an excellent cocktail book.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

For fans of Alice in Wonderland this is a must have for your collection. Filled with cocktails and beautiful Alice references. I can not recommend this enough!

Delightful, playful but still very useable! I was worried they would be too complicated - in order to achieve the magic of Alice - but they are very doable for a amateaur cocktail maker (read: someone who has already drank two cocktails)

Many thanks go to Nick Perry, Quarto Publishing, and Netgalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. >I loved the recipes inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but I gotta say, one has to be a diehard cocktail mixer to have some of these ingredients and tools. It isn't really practical for me. There is just too much liquor involved for one person. But for those who have fabulous get togethers, bbqs, etc it's perfect.

Drink Me! is a great book to get you started in making cocktails.

Part One of this book explains the popular spirits and liqueurs, their flavours, characteristics and how best used in drinks. It also covers the different types of ice, the various processes for making the cocktails, how to garnish and finally what equipment, tools and glassware should be used.

Part Two is chasing the rabbit down the hole to whip up around 25 cocktails, with each being named in some way to relate to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, such as The Duchess's Soup and a Cup of Mad Tea. Each recipe allows you to make just one cocktail and has a little explanation in relation to the story, an ingredients list and easy steps to follow.

Part Three provides batch recipes for creating your own homemade syrups, liqueurs, infused spirits, puree & juices, fat washed spirits and dehydrating fruit. The idea of making batches of infusing rum with buttered toast or turkey and making your own dehydrated fruit in an oven sounds fun.

The main alcohol such as rum, brandy, gin or whiskey can be found in your local supermarket. However it also includes bitters and liqueurs that are more specialist and would need to be sourced online. Not all the equipment is required to begin with as they also provide simple alternatives such as egg cups or a tea strainer.

There is a helpful conversion chart at the rear, so you can used either fluid ounces or millilitres. The book has cute drawings on each page but there is no photography of the finished cocktails.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.
