I had been so excited to read this book. Sadly I was so disappointed with the follow up book. It lacked substance. And I found it drowned on and on. Was very disappointed as I’d loved the 1st in the series very much.

When Roxy proposes to her boyfriend Jackson on live T.V. and he says “er no”, she is absolutely mortified. When she is offered a job as a baking assistant at the Log Fire Cabin, she jumps at the chance. The job will give her the chance to try to put the debacle with Jackson behind her.

As Roxy settles into her new job and makes friends with her boss Poppy, she begins to feel content. That is until Jackson turns up at Log Fire Cabin with a new girlfriend in tow. Can she put her feelings for him to one side or will she succumb to his advances?

From the festive cover to the story inside, this is a wonderful Christmas tale. Roxy is a likeable character who is trying to overcome a traumatic incident in her past. It also features characters from the first book in the Log Fire Cabin series. A great warmhearted book which was a pleasure to read.

Utterly enchanting, I already want to return to the Log Fire Cabin for yet another book, as i was utterly hooked on this on this one.

With the exception of Jackson and Sophie I warmed to all the other characters really quickly, and it was great to meet up with old familiar faces from the previous book. Although this can easily be read as a standalone.

The descriptions of the cabin and surrounding area were so well described that I could really picture them. I could see Roxy attempting to ice-skate, I could see Poppy in the supermarket despairing ove flour, and all the other moments in between. It was all just so clear to me.

Roxy is fabulous, she has been hurt in the past which makes her act how she does, and once the reasoning is revealed, well I just wanted to give her a big hug. She has a huge heart and is determined to do a good job for Poppy despite neving having baked before in her life.

If you are a lover of mince pies and gingerbread santas, then you would have been in heaven in Poppy and Roxy's kitchen as those were the main things being made.

There are assorted secrets in the story, all of which were interesting to discover, and kept me interested in all the guests at the cabin. With a wide range of personalities there is never a dull moment. Throughout there were two potential men for Roxy, and although my heart was willing her towards one of them, at points I just wasn't sure if she would get there!

This really is a delightful story, quick and easy to read and a pure pleasure to discover. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and already eager to see what Catherine Ferguson will be writing next.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was beautifully written, I was hooked from the very first page. It was festive, engaging, and a lighthearted easy Christmassy read.

It was romantic in every sense and I throughly enjoyed every page. I will definitely keep an eye out for more novels by Catherine Ferguson in future.

Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

I adored this wonderful romantic story! Sometimes when you are at your lowest point, a new and bright future will unfold, especially in a romance book, which is one of the reason I love to read them. While real life can bring you down, a great romance book will always lift your spirits.
I enjoy so much being introduced to new authors that quickly become another favorite to add to my growing list all the time. Catherine Ferguson definitely has been added to my favorites. I have a special attraction to stories in the UK, so when I had the opportunity to receive this book from Avon UK through NetGalley.com, I was so happy. This is the second book in The Log Fire Cabin series. It was fine to read as a standalone book. I understood everything without the background of the first book, although now I do want to read the first book and enjoy more time with these characters.
The story was wonderful, full of friendship, heartbreak, renewed hope, growing confidence and most of all love. When Roxy proposes to her boyfriend of a few months in national TV, due to a little too much to drink, her world suddenly changes, when he tells her no! This is not the first set back that Roxy had to face in her life. As a 19 year old, she had a life-altering situation that set the path of life in a different direction than what she had planned. From that situation, she then lived her life guarded and controlled.
After the failed proposal to Jackson, Roxy finds herself helping a stranger, Poppy, in the grocery which leads to a new job and staying at The Log Fire Cabin for a few weeks until Christmas. Roxy agrees to help Poppy with a baking contact for her catering company, although Roxy does not have a clue how to bake. The only draw-back to this arrangement is that Roxy’s ex – Jackson, is one of the people staying at The Log Fire Cabin!
Sometimes what you wish for and dream about is not what is meant for you. Sometimes better things are in store and you have to let go of your mind-set to find your true happiness.
This story was light-hearted but did contain a few serious emotional sub plots that made the overall story very engrossing.
I want to thank HarperCollins Publishers LTD, Avon UK and NetGalley.com for allowing me to read the ARC of this book and introducing me to a new wonderful author. #SecondChancesAtTheLogFireCabin #NetGalley

What a humourous read this was! The second book from the same setting, I haven't read the first book and definitely felt this was easily read as a standalone. Although I would happily read the first to learn more about some other characters.

Roxy makes a drunken proposal to her boyfriend, Jackson, on live tv of all things! He declines her which leaves Roxy mortified and they break up. On a whim to try and move on with life Roxy agrees to take on a job assisting as a cook at the Log Fire Cabin (which sounds amazing!). There is a slight problem with this in that Roxy doesn't actually cook and this was where some of the funnier moments came in for me.

Whilst Roxy is helping cater for a Christmas party it comes to light that Jackson is amongst the party, with his new girlfriend of course! Roxy is unsure if she is truly over him but battles on to help her new friend cater the event and decides she can't leave her in the lurch. I was intrigued to read if someone else might just catch her eye instead of the flaky Jackson.

This book touches on a horrific incident that happened to Roxy historically which has understandably shaped her life and relationships and this was dealt with very sensitively and brought something extra to the story which I liked.

Overall an enjoyable, witty and spirited read that I recommend!

Sometimes an absolute disaster can be an absolute stroke of luck. Unfortunately, we humans tend to realize this much later. Sometimes love makes you literally blind, so that you mourn the loss of a person who was not really worth it. And sometimes it can happen that one realizes the real love far too late.

Second Chances at the Log Fire Cabin is a beautiful Christmas love story. - You`ll smile a lot, be a bit appalled and sometimes just roll with the eyes!
