Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This book sucked me in, big time! Anya is married to Elliot, Anya is from a well to do, privileged family and Elliot grew up on a council estate. They are very different and they are much more different than they think they are. They also do not know each other in the way they think!

The story moves between 2003, 2018, 2019 and 2021 and we hear from Elliot, and another character; Irene. Irene's sons have disappeared and her life is not the same. While the first half of the book is a bit confusing, it jumps from person to person and year to year, suddenly, things start to click and we get a real view of Anya, and who she really is.

Thank you to Harper and Netgalley for the ARC.

Would read more of her books.

Two stories twisting into one hell of a ride. Once the story grabs you, you simply have to read on. Confusing at first, shocking after that...

Well written, good plot, and intriguing. What more do you need on a cold and snowy winter's day?

One whining from me: the cover is terribly Photoshopped, that silhoute of a woman would never fit through the door... maybe new cover ;)

I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book, especially for the first 50%. It was tough to keep with this book and not give up but it did definitely change after that 50% and became interesting. The way in which the characters are brought together is quite predictable but still done well. The shift between the different characters in the story was well-formed and kept well with the entire pace of the plot. I would advise that people didn't give up on this book and gave it the time to show the great stuff it has to offer!

Fantastic dark and twisty not what I was expecting at all
Fresh and new take on a domestic story and how women can be just as brutal as men

This book was so good! I loved it. That's all I am going to say because I want to write about it but I'm not sure how to do that without giving anything away. Maybe just read it.....

A totally gripping story, well written with twists and turn around each corner. I love Cass's books, and can't wait to read some more by this very talented author! Recommended.

The beginning concentrates the mind wonderfully. The reader knows something bad has happened, but not what. The remainder of the novel charts events up to that point. About three-quarters of the way through, I knew the outcome, but this just increased the menace and poignancy of the last part of the story.

The characters are multi-layered. Told from multi-points of view, in the past and present. There are two distinct plot threads, seemingly unconnected, but integral. Persevere, with the seemingly unconnected beginning, all will become clear.

Powerful, poignant psychological suspense, merged with family drama, it's believable and intense. There is a deeply ingrained sadness to this story, as well as the disturbing compelling elements. Whilst the ending isn't a surprise, its inevitability does resonate.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins UK - Harper Fiction via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The Killer Inside combines one story from multiple view points, there were moments of confusion for me while reading this book. However I did enjoy the story and glad that I kept on going till the end.

In "The Killer Inside", Cass Green wraps the reader around her little finger in the expert fashion of a natural storyteller. Wow.

I have always thought that Cass Green was an exceptionally talented author, and this latest addition to her back catalogue merely confirms this. Having been laid up for a few days with the dreaded winter lurgy, I took the opportunity to get stuck into "The Killer Inside". This novel was a wonderful panacea for my ills and I found myself racing through this novel in record time. It was simply wow - a tautly plotted, twisty mystery, with three-dimensional protagonists and a narrative that crackles with tension - what is there not to like? Told from the perspectives of Elliott and Anya, a married couple, and Irene, a gentle soul whose son, Liam disappeared in 2003, it is a genuine mystery what draws these characters together, and for a while Cass Green teases us with scarps of information that makes it difficult to guess where this story is heading. Suffice to say, a few of our main protagonists are not who they purport to be, with their tainted souls and dark hearts. Indeed, there are characters in this book who show a frightening propensity for evil. How this manifests itself is up to you, the reader, to find out. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed if you give "The Killer Inside" a go. If you like your thrillers straightforward and sign-posted with red-herrings that are more pink than red and long past their sell by date, then this is not for you. Cass Green refuses to condescend her readers with the ordinary flimsy tropes that authors of this genre sometimes resort to. This is a mystery thriller with a heavy dose of mystery and fierce adherence to putting the thrilling in the thriller. A complex, intelligent thriller that is both unmissable and unputdownable - superb!

This story is told from the point of view of Elliot, Anya a married couple and Irene a mother with two sons, one who disappeared in 2003. Anya comes from a very tight-knit family and Elliot sometimes feels a little bit of an outsider as she often turns to them more than him.

As the lives of the three main characters come together, secrets held by both Anya and Elliot are revealed in this thriller full of unexpected twists and turns.

An excellent story highly recommended reading.

Populated almost entirely by people with shadowed pasts or presents there are a lot of secrets in this book. Elliot and Anya are married and trying for a baby - in fact they are quite good at trying- or so Elliot says. He has never felt quite good enough for Anya but as things start to go wrong it seems Anya's life is not the perfect one he thought. Like many crime books we get the end event before the narrative hops back a year to the events that lead up to that scene.

For me it lacked complexity and some drive perhaps felt a bit tame for a mystery thriller. I wanted a little more

The Killer Inside is a psychological thriller that does a great job of piquing your interest throughout. Anya and Elliot are newly married and have very different backgrounds. Both have secrets from their past which they haven’t shared with each other. Irene is a lonely old lady who is trying to track down her son Michael and discovers he was investigating what happened to his brother who went missing over a decade ago.
This book kept me interested throughout with many twists, but I did need to take a big pinch of salt at times.

THE KILLER INSIDE is a dark intriguing psychological thriller by bestselling author Cass Green, that had me gripped from start to finish.

Her books Include:
The Woman Next Door (2016)
In a Cottage in a Wood (2017)
Don’t You Cry (2018)
The Killer Inside (2019)

This novel revolves around a happily married couple, Elliot and Anastazia (Anya). But they come from different backgrounds. Anya is an only child of Robert and Julia, a well to do family. Elliot had been brought up on a council estate by his mother. There is also a mother, Irene who is dealing with her two sons that are missing?

But both Elliot and Anya have secrets!

Then novel alternates between present and past and told through Eliott and Irene’s point of view. But the reader can see that Anya is different…she is an evil psychopath.

You love me. But do you really know me?

I would do anything for you. But some things about me must stay hidden.

A perfect liar

One summer afternoon, it all begins to unravel. Because I’m not the only one with terrible secrets to hide.

And when the truth comes out, it seems we both have blood on our hands…

Everything is not what it seems…

This is a fast-paced book full of action, believable plot, flawed great characters with some situations a little far- fetched but makes for an excellent read. I couldn’t read this book fast enough, with great twists, where I was trying to figure out who was telling the truth and who was lying.

Many thanks to the author, HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction and NetGalley, for my digital copy.
