I didn’t even realise that I wanted to know how Holly was doing until I started to read this. I was so happy to re-visit her and this teasing sampler has made me want to re-read PS I love you before reading the whole of Postscript.

A talented and skilful writer Ahern does not disappoint, this sampler is a great read and wets the appetite for the book release of Postscript, the long awaited sequel to PS I Love You. It’s easy to be enthralled back into the life of Holly and I cannot wait to read what life has in store for both the old and new characters.

I loved Ps I love You so was really looking forward to reading the sequel as one of my holiday reads and although I enjoyed the catch up on Holly's last 6 years the book didn't really end as ir was very short 300 pages and I felt robbed when I got to the end
It could have been so much better

As a much younger adult, PS I Love You was my favourite book. I read it over and over and cried over it on multiple occasions. When I saw there was to be a sequel, I added it straight to my to read list. This sampler gave a wonderful taster of what is to come. I can't wait to read the whole story.

I wasn't sure as I started to read about how I'd feel about Holly moving on and following the advice in Gerry's last letter, but here she is 7 years later, thinking about those letters again. after an audience member at a podcast she records with her sister founds the PS I Love You Club.

I'm glad there were a few chapters here, as it was the final one that really gripped me, and had me crying as I read the last few lines. I'm am keen to learn what happens next for Holly and how her feelings about this club, and her new partner, will change. I'm sure it's one I'll need a box of tissues beside me as I read but it's already preordered!

I received an extract from this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the sample of Postscript , and will be buying a copy of the book when it is published.
I really enjoyed P.S I loved You, hated the film as so much of the content had been changed. Postscript immediately took me back to Holly and her story.
The sample was beautifully written but I need more of it!
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for letting me read this sample, roll on publication day '!

I didn't notice that this was a sampler until I got to the end of the chapters. I was so annoyed I couldn't get to sleep. This was a great start to what will be a great book. I think it's hard to follow the first one especially as it was turned into a film but I think this will be just as good.
I can't wait to read it now as the last chapter finished on a cliffhanger. Roll on publication.

I really enjoyed this sample of Postscript and will surely read the full novel once it's published!
Cecilia Ahern managed to create a great connection between the first novel, PS, I love you, and Postscript. Even though it has been several years since I read PS, I love you, I had no problems getting into its sequel.
Holly still seemed like the same person, but grown. The loss of her husband hasn't left her untouched - everything else would not be believable in my opinion. Now, years after his death, she is confronted with her grief again and gets thrown back one more time. I am curious about the continuation of this story and can hardly wait until September!

I will publish a full review of this novel on my blog once I have read it.

Omg, it can't end there!!!! I received a free sample of the book to review and I want the book now.
I'm always worried when an author writes a sequel that it won't live up to the original, especially when there is a massive time gap, like in this case. But this book has started very well and has definitely left me wanting more.
I can't wait for the book to be released now. It was great reading about Holly again and seeing how she's getting on years after Gerrys death.

Beautifully written, totally absorbing, Postscript felt like a glorious, emotional, satisfying catch up with an old friend. The kind of friend where it doesn't matter how long it's been, you just pick up exactly where you left off. Until the next time Holly ...

When i heard there would be a sequel to ps i love you first came the scream. An excited yelp of a scream. Ps i love you has always stuck with me, one of the rare books to do this. There was always a lingering want for more, to find out how hollies life continued after gerry and the sample of postscript has spared this on more. It seems hollie will now almost be the gerry for someone else. I cant wait to read the rest of the story when its released.

So far I am enjoying this even more than the first, and I’ve already shed a tear... will look out for the novel when published, even though I am not a die hard fan of the first novel (liked, didn’t love) or the author.

This is just a review of the first part of 'Postscript', and boy does it leave me wanting to read the rest of the book. It is seven years since the passing of Gerry, and we are again introduced to Holly and where she now is in her life since 'PS I love you'. She finds herself still reflecting on how she has come to terms with the death of her husband and childhood sweetheart, yet how she has moved on and met someone else, and so the story begins as she speaks as part of her sisters online Blog about dealing with loss of a loved one and moving on. Just by reading this first part of the book I again found myself welling up with tears, feeling such empathy in what Holly has gone through, as I did when I read 'PS I love you' many years back. Many of the previous characters we have met before are still around, only they too have moved on with having children etc. Without giving any spoilers away, this first part of the novel left me on a complete cliffhanger and so I am vert much looking forward to being able to read the rest of the novel.

As always Cecelia makes you feel all your emotions throughout this book. I loved how she has evolved this story and the characters and how we learn more about them and in reflection ourselves while we feel all the emotions. If you have read, watched, loved the others then pick this up

Cecelia Ahern’s debut novel, P.S I Love You, has touched millions of lives all over the world. With numerous reprints and a Hollywood film under its belt, you’d be forgiven for thinking it had gone as far as it could go. However, this year, Cecelia Ahern is returning to her beloved characters and breathing life into them once more. Postscript, set seven years after the death of Holly’s husband Gerry, invites us back into the world of unexpected letters, rolling Irish hills and the power of infinite love.

My initial reaction when I heard about this sequel was uncontainable excitement; I adored P.S I Love You and whenever I spy it sitting on my bookcase I always wonder what happened to Holly in those years after the letters stopped arriving. Crazy, I know, she’s a fictional character, but Holly and Gerry’s story has stuck with me for years. After the excitement died down I started to panic – what if Holly was married again with kids and a dog and had forgotten all about Gerry?! Would I ever be able to think of her in the same way again?! Would Gerry’s memory still be alive or would people have forgotten about him and moved on? So many questions! So many fears that Postscript would completely change the way I felt about two of my most favourite fictional characters…

As previously mentioned, Postscript is set seven years after Gerry’s death and six since Holly read the last letter. Working in her sister’s shop and spending evenings with her trusted friends, Denise and Sharon, Holly is still adjusting to life without Gerry around. She agrees to take part in her sister’s podcast discussing Gerry’s letters but isn’t prepared for what comes next. A group of strangers, each with life limiting illnesses, have banded together to form the P.S I Love You Club, determined to leave things behind for their loved ones when the time comes. They approach Holly in the hope she will help them fulfil these last wishes and help them live on once they’ve died. Holly panics as a whole host of uncomfortable and upsetting memories arising from Gerry’s death. Were his letters really a gift or did they prolong Holly’s pain? Holly must make a decision. Should she carry on Gerry’s legacy or protect herself from the inevitable heartbreak that will happen all over again?

I fell back into Holly’s world faster than I thought possible. It felt like no time had passed but so much had changed. Cecelia managed to retain the essence of Holly and the rest of her world in this sequel even though years have passed between writing them. It felt like a seamless transition and a beautiful way of continuing their love story. As with all of Cecelia’s books, this one packed a punch and a half. The emotional turmoil that the characters go through is so intense and affected me more than I’d anticipated. It’s been a good while since I’ve shed tears at a book but I found myself crying three times whilst reading this novel. It was moving and honest about death yet somehow beautifully hopeful and optimistic about life.

Huge thanks to Harper Collins for the early review copy via NetGalley.

Postscript is a beautiful sequel to P.S I Love You and is everything I hoped it would be; powerful, poignant and a beautiful reminder that the ones you love will always be in your heart.

Seriously moving. I think it's even better than the first book. I feel like the writing improved somehow, too. The story itself is somewhat bigger than the original one. The first book was mostly personal. The second book is not only about Holly's own journey, but also about how she learned she and her story could effect other people. It's a beautiful thing.

To be honest, I didn't ever really feel like I needed a sequel to P.S. I Love You. After reading this sample it just feels so lovely to be revisiting old characters.

The premise so far is definitely piquing my interest - old loves, new loves, and supporting others through death (giving definite Gerry vibes). I'm excited to pick this up upon publication - I already know it's going to be another tearjerker.
