Dubbed to be the feel-good read of the summer, I must admit this one was in part the fluffy chick-lit I'd expected, whilst at the same time throwing in a couple of other elements of intrigue. Kinda. I enjoyed the formation of the friendships in the running club, between Keira, Tamsin, Sian and Amma; four ladies who have cancer diagnoses in common. I completely relate to the struggle that is pushing oneself to run. We see some of Keira's other struggles come to light as well: the strained relationship with her husband, the way in which her business seems to be slipping away from her. I found that storyline a little too predictable, if I'm honest. From the very first mention of her colleagues in the shop, it was clear what was going to happen there and I wasn't surprised. I think that the main focus of the story could have been the running group and the cancer treatment and that would have been enough, but as we've come to expect from this genre, all loose ends are tied up in the final chapter and all main characters get a happy ending. Read this if you fancy an escape from reality (I was going to say on holiday, by the pool, but I guess that's quite unlikely in our current circumstances).

This is a book that is very hard to dislike! You will laugh quite a bit, cry frequently and feel all emotions in between! Just super.

We all know someone (if not ourselves) that has been scarred in some way by cancer,Breast cancer caught my family unawares, so reading a novel that mirrored so much of what we went through was actually quite reassuring. The more detailed first section didn't surprise me at all, because yes it really can be that disgusting!

I loved the idea of a running club for the cancer stricken, it is so exclusive but also welcoming!

I also turned to running as an escape and I hope the author found something similar to help her through the inevitable.

A terrific read, 10 out of 5 from me...

Very indepth details of the operation, giving gritty and technical descriptions - obviously drawn on real life experiences. But an inspirational and uplifting story which many will find hugely motivational. Lots of emotions are brought into play and you will want to read it in one sitting.

This is an incredibly well written, warts and all story about life after a breast cancer diagnosis, which may sound depressing but there are, like in life, many uplifting wonderful moments. I cried and I smiled and also recognised many similarities between the book any real life. It’s an easy five stars from me.

This is a novel of heartbreak, of strength, of friends and family, of subterfuge and of a battle with cancer.

Keira is a mum, she’s a business woman, she’s a friend and she’s very, very busy. She is so busy that she hasn’t got time for the follow up appointment at the hospital, having been called back after her mammogram. And she definitely doesn’t have time for the bombshell that is about to explode in her life.

I identified with Kiera, trying to juggle her family and friends and work. The fact that she starts to drop the balls when cancer is thrown into the mix is not a surprise. The friendships she makes through the Running Club, compared to her BC (before cancer) friends are a wonderful example of how much you need support but you also need understanding and guidance, someone to say ‘hey, I’ve been on this journey, let me tell you exactly how it was for me’.

I loved this novel. I loved the warmth, the anguish, the laughter - it felt very real. Therefore, I was not surprised to read the postscript that the author had fought the same battle, and won.

This book was one of my favourite reads this year, without a shadow of a doubt. It made me laugh, moved me to tears and left me feeling inspired and uplifted.

This book opened my eyes to what happens when you are diagnosed and undergo treatment for breast cancer. It was raw, full of emotion and I could feel the emotions through the rough times and through the good., the writing was superb. It reminds you that we all need our friends and that our friendships can be some of the strongest and most powerful relationships you can have.

The way these ladies, in The Cancer Ladies Running Club supported and empowered each other through each of their own difficult times, just left me lost for words, I still think about the book after finishing it, which for me is always a sign that the book has left its mark on my mind.

I have already been recommending this read to each of my book loving friends. I hope they all take as much from this book as I did.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HQ for letting me have an early read of this fabulous and heartwarming novel.

This is very much a heart on her sleeve story from this author, with her deepest feelings and emotions laid to bare and it is wound around the fictional inspirational characters in the book.
Keira is married with a couple of kids and runs her growing successful business with a few friends and employees. Life is hectic and busy. When she is told by her doctor that she has cancer her world seems to crash down around her. She doesn't want to be a cancer victim bunched with other cancer victims and she certainly doesn't want to be part of any support group. It seems like either people take over some aspects of her life like she hasn't a mind of her own any more or think she should pull herself together. One thing is for sure, friends, work colleagues and family have changed and treat her differently.
When she meets another lady by chance out running and forms a friendship with her, everything changes. Her own pre-judgements of fellow patients with cancer couldn't have been more wrong. The two friends soon become more.
There is so much going off in this story as it brings out the best and worst in people round Keira. The feelings of people close to her and her own. Not wanting people to treat you different isn't the same as needing to know that someone is there for you and friends have your back. It seems that their worlds are still going on and it just won't let Keira get back on board.
This is a very inspirational story, from the gritty facts about the operation she had to the raw feelings that aren't sweetened up. It isn't a survivors club by any means, it is a bunch of women that won't go down without a fight. Superb writing!
I wish to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book, which I have reviewed honestly.

This book is a frank and honest reflection of Keira's journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer, it pulled my heart strings throughout and was filled with love and positivity.

I have read a few books where the storyline has been based around cancer, however this story had a stark realism to it with full descriptions of medical procedures and terminology. I found this increased the impact of the story, it pays great tribute to both the care of the NHS and hospices and highlights how dependent they are on donations.

Keira was a brilliant lead character who as a mother already had a full plate between her kids and her business, this is not only her story of her battle against cancer but how she tried to keep all the balls of life in the air and work out a way to keep moving forward.

A book that needs to be read with tissues and chocolate, a heartbreaking story full of heartwarming and motivational snippets that takes you on an emotional journey with Keira and her family

A chance encounter became inspirational and friendship. When life throws you a life threatening diagnosis a meeting changes your mindset. Meeting true friends on different stages of the same journey allows them to help and inspire each other. Throw in a husband having career issues and elderly parents needing extra support at the other end of the country, a business partner and her husband trying to ease you out of the business you built for the past 15 years.

I really loved this book. I laughed and cried my way through it, relating to Kiera and her story throughout. Whilst the story is fictional, it's based on the author's personal experience. I love the way that humour and sadness are given equal time in the book. I love the way that female friendship and bonding through running and breast cancer is used to tell the story of Kiera and her friends and family.

I've had breast cancer and I'm a very bad runner so the book really appealed to me and I was very keen to read it. It did not disappoint and I was swept along as the pace of the storytelling meant that it was very hard for me to put down. I think that readers will love this book whether they've had cancer or not. Keira and her running friends are great and loveable characters, and there are villains too.

One in seven people will be diagnosed with breast in the UK. That's a huge number and this book really helps to debunk some of the myths that surround the subject and helps to dispel some of the taboos. A very funny, poignant and welcome novel.

This book turned out to be my favourite read of the month. Keira, a mum of 3 and a business owner has breast cancer. What follows is a beautiful story of grit, determination, hope and friendship as she finds support in the form of a running club.

Lloyd not only allowed me to understand the impact that cancer had on Kiera, but on her whole family. She developed her characters so well that I felt like I knew them all personally and I felt myself rooting for various ones throughout.

Such a great read, full of encouraging and general overview of the dreadful disease call Cancer.Must have been hard for the author to have plucked up strength and determination first to come to terms with her suffering, recovered from it and be able to confront all of it again by writing this inspiring read.Thank you for sharing your thoughts and making it an enjoyable and providing an insight into this big C.

In fact, after reading this ,it has prompted me to take up running. I know it is only a story but my thinking after reading the book was if these ladies who have cancer and are undergoing chemo and radiography can run why can't I try it

I imagine this will be a huge hit, but for me I found it frustrating. Keira's story of how she deals with cancer and the wonderful running club is great. But I couldn't believe that everyone else in her life, especially her husband, would be so unsupportive. As for the fraud bit, that was one negative step too many and stopped this from being an uplifting story. I think this would have worked much better without the fraud bit and had the shop right behind her.

This book is something else, it’s fun, it’s emotional, it’s full of love, and yet heartbreaking. It is what it is, It reminds me of my friends who have gone through this emotional rollercoaster of a ride that cancer brings to your life. You won’t be disappointed, it’s strangely cathartic and the characters support the positivity that you need when cancer interrupts your life. A must read for everyone.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I found this book to be much more uplifting and hopeful than you would expect from a book dealing with a subject as serious as cancer. Although this particular story is fictional, the author draws on her own experience of cancer to give a realistic and in depth account of both her own turbulent emotions and the difficulty others have when confronted with something they don't fully understand. As in real life there are those who will offer support and those who will attempt to turn the situation to their own advantage. I liked that there was a small side story involving the shop, life in general doesn't stop just because one is faced with health problems and it helped to give depth of character to the members of the running club as they each found their calling

Before requesting this book I had read a lot of good things about it on twitter and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Being a runner myself and knowing 2 running friends that have gone through treatment and come out the other side this was a very poignant read. Handled very sensitively and also very entertaining. Keira is a very likeable character that you totally get and are rooting for her from the start of the book.her network of friends who stand behind her to help her and maybe a few that don’t makes you really think about pre judging and the way we react to things. A sad read but ultimately uplifting.
