Two women both with a need to escape agree to swap identities. This is a really good well thought out page turner with interesting characters.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I absolutely loved this book, it is probably my favourite book of 2020 so far.
From the start it grabbed my attention, a superbly written story about two complex women who are both trying to escape their darkness in different ways, yet both courageous, strong and very likeable.
This book twists and turns and leaves you loath to put it down, it also centres on and explores female friendships and supports, I found the ending satisfying and very poignant.
I really loved Julie Clarks' writing style, I especially found her portrayal of both women's triggers and reactions bought about by their histories beautifully and sensitively written.
A clever, exciting and fabulous book which I loved, I read an E-copy but I have pre ordered a physical copy as this is a book I will read again.
Thank you to Netgalley, Julie Clark and Hodder and Stoughton for the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for an impartial and honest review, I recommend this book very highly.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder Books for my ARC of this book!

Wow this book was brilliant! It kept me hooked from the beginning!
It tells the story from Claire and Eva's point of view, Claire's is the present and Eva's is the past and how she came to be in the position she is in.
I was gripped from the beginning and struggled to put it down! I love reading this genre and this was fast paced and addictive!
I really felt for both characters and was drawn into both their stories and how they were different but also drawn together by both being completely desperate to escape!
A must read!

Two women with completely different lives have one huge thing in common: they want to escape and leave the danger of their old lives behind. After a chance encounter at JFK airport, Claire and Eva form a plan to switch places and drop off the grid when they land. But will both women reach their destination?

Full of twists, turns and, most importantly, more of an understanding of abusive relationships, The Flight is the perfect gripping suspense story to read this summer. The book barely left my hands and I'm not ashamed to admit that I feel asleep with it still in my grip on multiple occasions because of how late I tried to stay up to get through just one more chapter...

The story is told from the points of view of both women, alternating with each chapter. Although I've previously found this to be off-putting, I thought it was such a brilliant way to suck me in. We go through different points in the timeline and slowly begin to see how these two women are somehow connected, despite how unlikely it would be. But that's one of the things I love most about it; it's an unlikely situation but still possible. Through the unraveling of each woman's past, they both started to set up a permanent residence in my heart. Each action and decision they made, I was rooting for them with such passion I rarely have for fiction characters.

I was hooked from the first chapter. Clark's impressive writing truly had me addicted and begging for more, even after the ending that sent a shiver down my spine.

Such a brilliant story that I all but beg everyone to read.

I raced through this book as I could not put it down. An original concept of two women having a different need to disappear from their current lives. Each woman has been exploited in a different way. The tension is maintained throughout and the ending leaves you thinking. Very readable.

A-MAZ-ING!!!! Very few books have kept me gripped throughout in the way this one did, or kept my pulse racing with no let up in the tension. I read a comment about how this book would make a brilliant Netflix series, and I couldn't agree more. Thrillers, when done well, are the best escapism, and this is one of the most exciting and well-written plots that I have read in a long time. I was fully invested in the two main characters stories, and could not put it down, but at the same time didn't want it to end.

Claire is married to a powerful politician, Rory Cook. But she hides a secret. Behind closed doors, he is a controlling, manipulative and abusive husband.

Eva made a mistake in college that has changed her life irrevocably. She has found herself cooking up and dealing drugs and can see no way out.

Two women living in fear. Two women at an airport wishing to disappear. Could they pull off a heist that would allow them both to break free of the chains that bind them, and rebuild their lives somewhere no-one can find them?

There are so many twists and turns and I want to rave about them all, but this book deserves to be read with no spoilers. It is simply brilliant.

This book snagged my attention from the very first page then proceeded at a brisk pace with twists and turns that continue until the very last page. Clark not only gave us a thriller but also an emotional story that will keep you on tenterhooks. Impeccable.

The Flight is a gripping read, with characters you really root for. Told from the point of view of two American women, drawn together at a turning point in both of their lives. In desperation they switch plane tickets, only for one of the flights to crash killing all occupants. But did it?

The Flight kept me guessing throughout. Because it switches from one woman’s story before the crash to the others after the switch - it keeps you reading, wanting to know the next part. Engaging, twisty, sad and well written, I recommend this for a great summer read.

Thank you for Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Two women idling away the time in an airport whilst waiting for their flights get chatting and discover that each wants to escape from their lives. One of them suggests swapping tickets so they take the chance, boarding each other's flights. It was such a good idea, swapping lives, shrugging off their own personal troubles, and it would have worked well until one of the planes crashed apparently killing everyone on board. Or did it?

The two women, Eva and Claire are both strong women, which makes a pleasant change from the soppy heroines often found in fiction, and the premise is interesting. At times it fell a little flat, and I didn't get on as well with the parts told in flashback, however, it held my attention enough for me to find out what happened to them both.

This wasn’t like any book I’ve read before. I read this in pretty much one sitting. It was just brilliant.

The story is focused on two perspectives, Claire who is an abused wife, and Eva who made one mistake that sets her on the wrong path. The two of them swap flight tickets after meeting in a bar and take each other’s place on the flights and in identity. It gave the back story of Eva and how life can spiral out of control just by making one single wrong decision. Claire’s perspective in set in the current time and how life changes after the changed flights.
I started off not really liking Eva, but as the story wore on her character grew on me, and once the layers of her were stripped away you could see a completely different person.
I liked Claire from the start, and the descriptives regarding her abuse from her high up the chain husband really brought home how some women can’t just leave the marriage as is expected in this day and age. Her position came across as no way out and trapped. I wondered how the story would conclude, and how they tangled together. But the ending resolved with all the small threads being pulled together making a brilliant story. It was emotional, page turning, well written, believable, relatable, and every other emotion in between.
I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend to family and friends.

This is a gripping read! How would you disappear from your life if you were on the run? Could swapping lives with someone at an airport be the answer?

Claire's perspective is written in the first person, as she is living the experiences; whereas Eva's is written in the 3rd person explaining the events leading up to the point.

It contains themes of domestic violence and female solidarity.

It's a great read and if it hadn't been for "life" then I would have finished it in one day!

Total escapism - the fantasy we all have from time to time of leaving everything behind and starting afresh to create the life you think you want. Just what a good novel should be. The characters in this book are credible and likeable. They’re developed well although Eva’s history and back story is developed better than Claire’s. Others have said that there’s a mini series or the potential for a film here and I absolutely agree. It kept me guessing right to the end. A really enjoyable read and one I’d definitely recommend - I will be looking out for books by this author.

I've been looking for a great thriller and .... I got it with this book!!
A psychological thriller about two women in crisis who have a chance encounter at an airport which provides each of them the opportunity to escape from their lives by switching flights and undertake each other's identities.
Clare is trying to escape from her abusive husband and Eva from a dangerous life. Told through both women eyes we learn much about their lives and their reasons to escape.
Loved this book - was a real page -turner, fast paced well plotted and I was hooked from the start.
I can highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!
Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this book for an honest review

In The Flight we see two women, desperate for a way out, cross paths and see the course of their lives change forever.

Claire’s husband is rich, powerful and, behind closed doors, menacing. A chance encounter with Eva, a mysterious blonde on the run, and a quick change of tickets sees Claire boarding a flight into the unknown and onto a fresh start. But when the plane she was meant to be on goes down into the ocean with no known survivors, Claire realises she is stuck living Evas lies.

If I’m honest I was expecting more from this book. The premise sounded so interested but it just seemed to drag out a bit for me! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve read a lot of thrillers in succession but it didn’t really do anything to stand out among the rest for me. I also couldn’t make sense of the ending, given some information we had received earlier on in the book! However I think the book was very in line with the Me Too movement in encouraging women to speak out and take a stand against the wrongdoings of men in their lives. I appreciated the delicacy and empathy with which this was written about, and that other characters weren’t shamed for not speaking up.

Overall I did enjoy this book but I can’t say I’d rush to pick up another book by this author!

Claire and Eva are complete strangers, living in wildly different worlds. Their only similarity is the desperate need they share to escape from their lives. So when the two bump into each other at an airport, it seems fate has given them a chance, and they quickly come up with a plan - switch places, with each boarding the other woman's plane, and then vanish upon arrival. But nothing is ever as easy as it seems...

Oh my god I loved this! The plot is so so smart, with every little detail thought out and planned for, and I loved the fact that every question that pops up throughout the book eventually has a whip smart solution by the end. I also cannot believe how many twists and turns there were throughout! Obviously I can't specify for fear of spoilers, but oh my gosh there were so many surprises and 'aha!' moments that I was completely gripped!

I honestly cannot recommend this enough. The idea behind it is completely unique and so incredibly well executed, Eva and Claire are both such well written and believable characters, and the spiderweb of a plot that Clark was able to create in this novel was just amazing. Definitely a read in one go situation with this book, and I can't wait to see what she does next!

Eva and Claire swap identities at the airport. Claire is escaping her husband and is glad to pass on her identity so she can escape his controlling hold. The plane Eva was supposed to be on crashes. Only Rory, Claire's husband think she was on the plane. Full of intrigue. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

I read it in one sitting like many other readers, sat in the garden on a sunny day. Perfect beach read for this summer. Twists and turns and likable characters will draw you in.

That was epic.

I normally don't read thrillers...and if I do, they are of the psychological variety. I was captivated from the very first page.

Claire is the wife of a rich and abusive husband who is making the cross into politics as his mother did before.

Eva came from a childhood in foster care after her mother gave her up. She now makes a good living by working in her old college town.

At an airport, the two have a chance encounter that has them saying *insert GIF of Lindsay Lohan in Parent Trap saying "We should switch places."

Both have something they're running from. Both are actually destined to meet. Only one lives after their switch.

Throughout the book, there were so many places and characters I had no clue how this was all going to be tied up in the end, but it was done in a way with everything wrapped up effectively.
My heart was palpitating the whole time and THIS will be a top summer (or all of 2020) read I'm sure!
