This is perfect for anyone who wants some ideas for new bakes - there are firm favourites such as Victoria Sponge, along with all sorts of different flavours and textured cakes.. Mainly easy to source ingredients too. My baking mad daughter has enjoyed trying out bakes she hasn't done before.

This is such a great staple of a cookery book with all the best traditional cake recipes laid out in a simple to use format . As usual with Mary Berry - recipes which work without fault!

Really good range of classic recipes in her accessible, knowledgeable but chatty and warm style. Pics come out pretty well in kindle format too.

I have an old copy of this book and you can tell it has been much used as when you open it there are flour stains etc.

This is a "bible" of everyday baking although there are sections on special and occasion cakes.

Much used ones include the basic all in one sponge traybake which you can adapt in lots of ways. Handy for larger families/ cake sales etc. One variation which has gone down particularly well is the lemon drizzle traybake.

Other favourites are the Devonshire scones. Until using this recipe I had never made successful scones . Also blueberry muffins.

To sum up the best points of this book
1. Great budget price for a baking book that has recipes for beginners and more experinced bakers
2. "Standard" recipes like Victoria Sandwich but also regional and international classics and variations.
3. Recipes that REALLY work, no changes required. Mary has useful little introductions to each cake with tips/ telling you how long it keeps for etc
4. It has become my "go to" cakes and bakes book. It's nearly worn out.
5. An ideal present at a reasonable price

What is there to say about this book? Mary Berry is just the best. Her lovely grandmotherly tones, the comforting fruity smells that accompanied my childhood from my nan’s baking...this book encompasses all of that.

Her recipes are simple and foolproof, and you know what? Every single one works like a charm. Yes, there are probably more complicated recipes, more adventurous recipes, but if it ain’t broke...

Each one is simple to follow, with clear instructions and gorgeous pictures. I’m no baker, but even an amateur like me can follow along.

With some traditionally classic recipes and some more modern twists on old favourites, there is something here to suit everyone’s tastes and skill set. Perfect for beginners and sports alike!

Having been a fan of Mary Berry’s recipes for many years, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to review My Kitchen Table, and it doesn’t disappoint. Whilst I haven’t yet managed to make all 100, I’ve tried several new recipes and all are easy to follow, with a simple ingredients list, straightforward steps and colour photographs of the finished products. I especially like the fact that there are recipes for everyone, from old favourites (Victoria sandwich, butterfly cakes, flapjack) to more challenging ones (chocolate roulade). There’s also several cheesecakes and desserts.

Each recipe has a short introduction from Mary, with hints and tips about storage, appearance and issues that may occur. Many also have alternative versions, so there’s plenty of ideas to keep you going,

A fantastic range of sweet things to make. Thank you NetGalley and Random House.

Mary Berry can be relied upon to create recipes that are not only delicious and aesthetically pleasing, but also work for even the most inexperienced baker. This book provides simple recipes that can be attempted by children, such as the all in one traybake, but also more challenging bakes such as the raspberry meringue roulade.
It also contains recipes from around the world that may not be so familiar to readers, as well as some savoury options such as the delicious cheese scone round.
Whichever recipeS I attempt from this book disappear very quickly in my home. That is recommendation enough.

This is a great book, with plenty of different types of cakes that you may have heard of, but never made, like a Victoria sponge. It’s a great book to dip into. The recipes are easy to follow and the results were delicious. Not a book for those on a diet.

A real culinary classic - brilliant for budding cooks and experienced bakers alike. With 100 recipes, there's bound to be something for everyone. Whilst the recipes err towards the more traditional side, there are plenty of contemporary offerings, too. Berry guides you through each step, making the recipes easy to follow.

Thanks!

This is an oldie but goodie. I have the paper version of this book and against what you may expect from a famous baker like Mary Berry, these are easy, achievable recipes.
It is the basics book of what you grandmother would teach you.
You won't find GBBO show stoppers, but you will find recipes for all the famous cakes from a Victoria Sponge to a Black Forest Cake as well as scones, pancakes, brownies and Christmas cakes.
Easily organised by Cakes, Small Cakes, Traybakes, Scones and Buns, Special Cakes and Occasion Cakes, this is where to get or brush up) on your basic baking skills. You can always play aroound with decoration later if you like, but you can learn to nail the recipes!

A great baking bible, of course it’s Mary Berry, I’ve been using her recipes since I learned to bake when I was little with my mum and I won’t stop. Her recipes don’t let you down and are always tasty. This is a great little book, well presented, great pictures and easy to follow instructions. The perfect baking bible, but I am biased.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Oh my. I’ve just put on a stone reading this book.
Mary Berry has put together a wonderful collection of 100 cakes and bakes. There is something in here to tempt every palate. Mary gives a little intro into each bake. Followed by ingredients and then a step by step easy to follow guide. What I really love is that every recipe is accompanied by a picture.
Mary also chooses recipes that have easy to source ingredients, most of them standard store cupboard ones. So no hunting in supermarkets for random stuff that won’t get used again.
This will be a great mum and kids baking together book. Or the perfect go to reference book for bakers. I would personally gift this as a starter book to my daughter ( and a reminder one to my mum)
Perfect for a housewarming gift with a couple of baking tins.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc in return for an honest review
