This was such a great book! It all comes together beautifully! Characters are very relatable, as is the plot. Although tragic, it's worth the read!

What a great story! I love a story about rebuilding lives after a tragedy and that's what this book delivers. Emotional, raw, and heartwarming. Definitely recommend.

Building it Up was full of an aftermath of a terrible tragedy between 3 friends. the struggles they all faced and how it left scars that needed time to heal. So full of twists and turns I never saw coming. It had some surprises that were entertaining and kept you guessing how was it going to end.

This book was so raw and so emotional. I never should have read it at work but oh well it was too good to stop. It’s been a long time that a book grasped at my heart strings. This was so beautiful. I typically don’t reread books but I feel the need to feel the emotions again. Building it up really builds your own emotions up. I truly hope Kat Rose continues autumn’s and jensens journey.

What an emotional, heartwarming story this was! Though it was hard to read at times, I am glad I stuck with it. Childhood friendships are some of the most important you make in your life, and losing a close friend would be heartwrenching. This is one book that I read this summer that I will not soon forget. Kuddos to Katt Rose for this well written novel.

This book was very enjoyable for me. I liked reading all about each character's back story and how they handled a tragedy that happened when they were teenagers. It was difficult to see Jensen struggle so much and I often wondered when enough was going to be enough for Autumn. I liked the way the story unfolded though.

This is one of the most honest and raw books I have ever read.
One horrific accident from their teenage years, shapes the lives of Autumn and Jensen for the next 10 years.
A journey of how different people cope with tragedy, which had me absolutely sobbing towards the end of the book.
Absolutely fantastic book - have never read a book like this before but I loved every second.
Thankyou netgalley for giving me the chance to read something I never normally would go for.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher BooksGoSocial for the ARC.

This is a sensitively written story about the present-day lives of two people with a tragic shared history. It is approaching the tenth anniversary of a terrible accident where Jensen and Autumn, in company with Jake, were celebrating the end of college and looking forward to the rest of their lives. Best friends for ever, and drinking illicitly-bought alcohol, all three were at a lake and fooling around off a wooden jetty. Jake dies. Jensen is pulled back to his home town after years of nightmares and finding solace in alcohol. Autumn stayed at home and dealt with her grief through counselling. Their paths collide again and Autumn is determined to help her first love deal with his addiction, and the reasons for it.

This is a straightforward-enough of a story around the complexities of grief and guilt, but with a supernatural twist to it. However, I did find the actual writing style hard to get to grips with; lots of short sentences, lots of repetitive phrases, and I didn't get the feeling of much depth to it at all.

Coping with traumatic events and feelings of guilt is a very personal thing and everybody tries to cope in their own way. Very often this way includes addition and suppression. This novel shows the devastating effect.

I really liked the first 70-80% of the story. What I did not like is their way out. I don't want to give spoilers, but being led and getting help from the dead is not what I see as working through the trauma.

This is a book that will show you two people who have been hurting ever sense they lost their friend in a accident when they were teenagers. Jensen Owens returns to his home town where he lost his best friend Jake in a accident. He has blamed himself for not saving his friend. He runs into Autumn his high school girlfriend who was also best friends with Jake. Autumn has sought help for her trauma, but Jensen is still running from his. Autumn stands by Jensen and tries to help him. Will Jensen deL with his problems? Will be forgive himself? Will Autumn and Jensen make peace with the memories of that horrible day they lost their friend. Great book. Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book.

As children, Autumn, Jensen and Jake were the 3 musketeers and did everything together. One summer day at the lake as teenagers changed that. They got drunk and a tragic accident took Jake’s life. Jensen couldn’t handle the regret of that day and left town, Autumn stayed and rebuilt her life.

10 years later, Jensen is back and trying to escape the demons of that day. He drinks to put the memories out of his mind and move forward. Autumn is there to help him pick up the pieces and move forward from what happened. They both see Jake in their dreams and struggle with what happened. Is Autumn’s love and friendship enough to help Jensen get over things? Will she get through to him?

This story will take you through the journey as Jensen overcomes the loss of a friend from a tragic accident, a friend that still haunts him as he tries to move on. He returns home 10 years later to those he left behind and tries to pick up the pieces. The story is told back and forth from Autumn and Jensens perspective. This book is labeled as a mystery/thriller novel and is different than most others I’ve read of that genre (my favorite). I could not stop reading to see what happens and read this book in a day.

5/5 would recommend reading this book from Katt Rose

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I felt this book was so honest about how one tragic event can mess you up and how it changes you. The author tells the story of Jensen and Autumn when they were a teenager, one tragic event changed them and how it affected them through life. When they meet again, they finally know how the other is doing which is another insight and they try to help each other. It is a rough road they have to face and go down. From the start of the book to the end, I just think the author was just so honest about what happens to someone when they have to face their demons, how hard it is, setbacks they have to face, and how it affects their family and friends. It isn't a story about facts, it is the journey of two people and all they have to go through.
I think that this is a book everyone should read because you can get an idea of what someone with an addiction or something else will go through. In the book and in real life, people ask how do I help them? I think I found the honest answer in the book and I hope if you are reading this review, you will go and get the book and read it.
