This period of social distancing and all kinds of restrictions is quite difficult for all of us. This includes trying to keep children occupied, feeling safe, and attempting to keep up with preschool or schoolwork as best as possible. None of this is easy, but it helps to stay focused on what is possible to reinforce a sense of control and to reassure children that they are okay and that the situation will get better. Reading greatly helps to reduce children's anxiety and additionally allows you as a parent to spend constructive time with your little ones.
And if you are looking for the perfect picture book that will allow you to travel to another world at least for a short time, then you should choose ‘When Fred the Snake and Friends Go Camping’ by Peter B. Cotton. A book that will so effectively and vividly allow you to help your child explore the beauties of the outside world, to get acquainted with the concept of camping as well as the privilege of having friends. Interesting situations conveyed through effective rhyme will attract the attention of your little one. You can read or sing the story. And the talent of this author to simplify the language structures will help your child to easily follow and understand the story. The illustrations are absolutely sweet and additionally affect the interest of your child.
What particularly impressed me as a teacher and parent was the fact that the author chose so many different animals as part of the group of friends. In this way, children can see the importance of diversity. The differences as an integral part of society. The message that no matter how different we are, we can still be friends is so subtly conveyed through every situation, every rhyming verse, and every image.
An interesting and enticing picture book that hides great truths and pearls of wisdom, under seemingly simple verses. A great choice for any family with children, as well as for any kindergarten libraries. We loved it.

When Fred the Snake and Friends Go Camping by Peter B. Cotton is a wordless book that has the reader use their own imagination to narrate the story. I was pleased to see this type of book as many options are available for creativity.

The illustrations are colorful and they draw even the youngest reader in. You see the characters pack up for a camping trip. They have multiple animals and humans on their outing.

It is clear that they are having fun and a few mishaps make this an interesting book to guess what is happening. I bet by not including words the story can change everytime. Narrating your own story can be lots of fun when given such excellent pictures to guide you!

I was provided a free advance reader copy from Books Go Social in exchange for my honest review from Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.

I liked the idea behind this story but there was just something a little lacking from the plot.

The illustrations were great and the writing style was ok but it just didn't impress me as much as I thought, and hope that it would.

I do hope that others will enjoy it much more and would always encourage a reader to pick up a book and read it to get their own opinion.

It is 3 stars from me for this one.

I read this to my daughter and son and we really enjoyed the rhymes. We also love to go camping every summer, so they loved that they could relate in some way to the story as well as laugh at some of the pictures. I enjoyed that there were some camping lessons involved in all the fun as well.
This was an enjoyable quick read.

I was granted complimentary access to When Fred the Snake and Friends Go Camping by Peter B. Cotton through BooksGoSocial on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a "make your own story" picture book or if the file currently available on NetGalley is corrupted, but there is no text to be read. The illustrations, which are beautiful, show a mixture of human and animal characters going on adventures in the great outdoors. If this is indeed meant to be a make it up storybook, then I can hear my own mother now coming up with a different adventure each night this book gets selected. If it isn't and there was supposed to be text, I will gladly re-review if I am sent a ne file that actually has text.

We liked how the story rhymed. It was a very imaginative story with great pictures. The book seemed to jump around when they were on the island and then suddenly off and back at camp.

I can't review the story as the words didn't show on the pages of the copy I received. However, I didn't enjoy the art style. I was disappointed that we weren't able to read this book.

The illustrations were cute. I did not have any words in my copy so I can’t speak to the story. But it looked cute 😊

When Fred the Snake and Friends Go Camping is a beautifully illustrated book.
There were no words in my copy, I guess there must have been a glitch, but my 4 year old son enjoyed the pictures and making up his own story to go along with it.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my copy..
