This was a hilarious, middle grade story! This was laugh-out-loud funny and a great way to get younger readers invested into reading!

A good, fun book that should appeal to middle grade readers who are fans of quirky humour and adventure, as Jamie and her friends have to go up against her evil uncle to save their favourite YouTube boyband. It's easy to read with fun illustrations that compliment the entertaining silliness of the story. I liked the characters and can see this developing into a popular series, certainly one I will buy and promote in libraries.

Utterly hilarious. A right romp of a story with a wonderful cast of characters including a super smart lead and the most dastardly villain. It's pacy, full of intrigue, and packed with social media references, which give it an incredibly current vibe. And it's...ZANY. I think that's the only way to describe it! And I mean that in a good way!

When Jamie’s favourite band announce they are to be on a talent show hosted by the boyband creator, Barry Bigtime, she and three best friends are dismayed: they know their idols have too much talent for that. What’s more, Barry is her uncle, who has defrauded her grandma out of her house and forcing her to live with Jamie, who now has to share her bedroom with her granny and her pet pig.
This is a mad romp of a story, peopled with obnoxious classmates, an egomaniac villain and mutant henchmen, and a group of friends with some odd talents. I have no doubt this will appeal to children who are far more entrenched in the world of social media than I am, and who will appreciate the scatological humour, although I found some of humour directed towards the grandma at the beginning of the book a bit unkind.

I would imagine this'll go down a treat with youngsters. There's enough high tech jargon to keep old fogeys like me in our place whilst making kids smile. The actual story itself is quite bonkers but entertaining. It reminded me of the daft mini-series Ant&Dec have on their Saturday Night Takeaway.

When I first saw Jamie McFlair Vs The Boyband Generator online, I was completely sold. The strength of the packaging had me adding it to list without even reading the description. It looked wild, wacky, and all sorts of absurd fun with an intriguing title to boot. Needless to say I had no idea what I was expecting and and was left happily surprised.

Jamie McFlair and her three best friends are huge fans of the youtube band BNA so you think they'd be excited when the band lands a big break to appear on Big Time (think Britains Got Talent). Instead the group has a sneaking suspicion something is dreadfully wrong. The man in charge of the program, Barry Bigtime, is Jamie's uncle so they know first hand the man is bad news.. Little do they know Barry is worse than bad news, he's positively evil news! With his finances in the red, Barry needs to create a new boy band to keep his lifestyle and status. In the past he's used a contraption to create them but when the latest goes wrong he needs to come up with a new plan quick. When he realizes how talented BNA is he sees them as a threat to his music empire and sets a terrible plan in motion with the help of his mutated minions. Good thing for the musicians that their devoted fans (Jamie and friends) will risk anything to keep them safe,

This was an utterly delightful wild romp. I really had no idea where the story was going to go and was surprised at the introduction of Barrys minions. The story was full of danger, intrigue, and had a great Saturday morning cartoon vibe to it. Though I wasn't up on all the tech, I really enjoyed how relevant it was for the intended audience that is better versed in a world of social media and coding. Mel and Grandma were standout characters with their sass and unique way of seeing things. Barry was also a favourite as he was such a ridiculous over the top villain to read.. Overall it was just a fun book that will bring joy to anyone who's ever been a fan of a boy band.

If Jamie McFlair and the Boyband Generator catches your eye for any reason, do yourself a favour and pick it up. You might be left with a few questions but it should leave you smiling. A fun cartoon vibe children of all ages are bound to enjoy .
