The book was good and I couldn't put it down. But it left me wanting more. I wanted more dialogue and more character development. It was good for a short story but I really think the author could have really developed the storyline and characters.

After the angel of his life died, Ryan knows he will never love again. So when he answers the door and sees his love again on New Year’s Eve, he jolted to a halt. He flings the door open, hoping to see things clearer. What he doesn't expect is to find Kayla Quinn. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Leah Colton is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book

Shame. I finished it because it was short. I don't get the part of erotica. The lack of scene makes me disappointed. I feel like I wasted my time reading it. I Have high expectation for this book by looking at the title and the cover. I am sorry but I believe this book is not ready to be publish yet. The idea is there but need more. When reading this i feel it is so boring and not sexy at all. i didn't like this story.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me this copy in exchange of honest opinion.

His doll is a quick read. I wanted to enjoy it more, but it was rushed and entire parts of the plot were skipped and just briefly mentioned later. There were also a few inconsistencies with the timing of the book. For one, it was mentioned that Ryan had no need to be in the office until the new year. However, this was said after the new year fashion show. This book can definitely be great after being reworked. It's a good story, but it just needs to be extended to fill in plot holes and not feel rushed.

A short novella that tells of a (steamy) love story between two people who desperately need it! The writing was a bit juvenile, but I still enjoyed it.

I hope that this was sent through to an editor and screened a few more times by a couple of beta readers. This took about 20 minutes to get through and was weirdly formatted. There's 2 sex scenes? And it is disjointed .. like the author wanted to dabble in the bizarre and exotic and fell flat for both.

There's potential but it does, uh, need more fleshing out.

This book was pretty frustrating! It was too short, the title was misleading and it wasn’t very well written.

In fairness to the author, it felt like the book was in need of some editing and could definitely have benefitted from being longer as it would have given her the chance to add a bit more to the story.

The premise of changing her appearance to look like his dead ex was a bit weird and unnecessary. Based on what was written she looks like his ex anyway so why change your appearance??

Finally this was marked as erotica and although there were some sex scenes, they were pretty tame.

Sorry just not for me this one.

A quick, snappy read from Leah Colton. Ryan is still throwing himself into his work since the love of his life, Sharon, passed away. A model who headed up the fashion shows for his brand.
One particular show sees Kayla on the edge of her big break in the modelling world. Due to errors in the show Kayla is fired immediately by Ryan himself.
Kayla is that upset she keeps attempting to explain herself but Ryan has none of it. Kayla realises she has to think outside the box to try to get her job back.
I picked up His Doll and was swept away in Ryan and Kayla's worlds. The sadness that Ryan still holds and Kayla's desperation are apparent to the reader and we can feel Kayla's distress at losing her job. The chemistry between these two is red hot and we get to see just how hot!
A really good read that I could have read more of!
Thanks to Net Galley and Leah Colton for the copy of His Doll

This book needs a little more work. Could be good if it was more in depth and a bit longer.
Thanks for the opportunity to read it however

??? What? No offense, but this was very poorly written. The cover alone has literally nothing at all to do with the story. It was very very slow and short. Honestly, not worth the read. It was a cute short story if you have an hour to spare I guess. With a little bit of work this has the potential to be a good story. There just needs to be more and it needs to be slowed down. Like, spoiler alert, they meet and agree to get married the next day or a few days later? No.

This is best described as a pamphlet rather than a book. Read it all in 30 minutes last night. Not much of a story. Certainly not erotic.
The premise of the story is ok. The story would have made a reasonable book if there was more to the story and the characters were developed. But on the whole I would say give this one a miss.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

I strongly believe that this book shouldn’t have been published yet. I think it needs a lot of editing and development work

I think the idea behind the story could be interesting. The idea that the MC changes her appearance to look like the previous love interest is that shock value that the book needs, but for me, this book falls apart at the low level of writing and at how short the story is in itself.

I feel as if the title and the cover doesn’t reflect the story within itself, and that there was scenes within this book that weren’t necessary to the story ( aka the prologue ).

I apologise for the harsh opinion, but I was disappointed with this read.

His Doll

His doll is about a model who loses her job and to get it back she dresses up as her bosses dead wife.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Review:
This book is 54 pages long and the cover is great and promises a steamy read. Whilst I usually enjoy erotic romance, this was not for me. There was very little eroticism and the romance was rushed (obviously due to the length of the book) and frankly the dialogue was mechanical. This may well be someone else’s cup of tea but unfortunately wasn’t mine.

This book was one of the first erotica/romance books I've ever read. I was caught by the colors on the cover and the story line was amazing. A heartbroken agency owner finding love again in one of the least expected places for him was a good plot.

His Doll by Leah Colton was a good, short read. It was a fun way to spend and hour in another world. I will look for more books by this author.

***** I received an ARC from NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my honest review. *****

Short and sweet. Bit weird she tried to look like his dead dead girlfriend and stuff. Less than one hundred pages long and takes place over a the space of a few days, the pace of the romance probably fits the length of the novel, but it does move a bit fast for me.

After finishing this book, I honestly felt like I wasted time. When going for erotica, I tend to go more towards straight smut, or smut but with a plot.
This book was neither. containing less than three pages of anything steamy and definitely nothing that could pass as being beyond vanilla. Which felt contradictory to the vibes a tile like "His Doll" gives off.
The characters feel one-dimensional and stereotypical at best, paired with an insta-love romance. It makes the most of the book feel really dull.
Along with sections of the book that are honestly hard to follow, and honestly would have been done better being written from the other person's point of view, Along with glaring plot holes, which stands out even more with the lack of smut.

The story was so contrived I was able to ignore the incredibly immature writing. The sexy scenes are so mechanical and.. boring that I was left wondering what the point of the book was. I think with even some more focus on even one of the problem areas of the book it would've been a worthwhile read.

Thanks NetGalley for the eARC for His Doll in exchange for an honest review

I felt that the writing was very immature and the cover nor the description truly give you a glimpse of where the story is going. It was a bit creepy to me that Kayla dressed up as his Ryan’s dead ex-girlfriend and Kayla’s friend encouraged her to do it. There was no competition for his heart as the description proposed. There were also scenes that I felt were unnecessary but scenes that should have been included. I’m glad it took me under an hour to read this.

Clever cover, as with the actual title though, does very little to reflect what this book is about.

It is a book about an aspiring model who has worked very hard for the breaks she has achieved. All this is thrown into despair following a disastrous cat walk show where equipment failure led to her falling.
Kayla is nothing if not resourceful and rather than accept her dismissal she tries to take matters into her own hands. However she gets more than she bargained for after her boss’s door is slammed in her face. Ryan however is having his own problems and has never really moved on from the loss of the love of his life.

Just a short story but sufficient to reveal a capable and effective story teller. It is heart enriching soppy for its romantic notions and heart stopping, cardiac level, for its erotic content.
Even though it is a short story, I feel the falling in love is rapid, even if my racing pulse was faster at times. However, Ryan and Kayla both needed more in their lives and getting together showed they were very similar in many ways. No-one is hurt and Aunt Shirley can plan a new hat somewhere down the line.

I like the writing style of Leah and felt comfortable in both the boardroom and bedroom.

Liked the start of the story and the ending especially, and this a feel-good and memorable story. As a bloke however I am not sure I get the benefit of mimicking Ryan’s previous girlfriend’s look. It would make me angry in his position but I could more easily identify in the sexual harassment - great to see more than Demi Moore are at it these days, strikes a better balance and the response seems totally fitting. The subsequent action also ensures that this important subject isn’t just included for fun.

Worth a read and an interesting author to discover.
