Really enjoyed this cook book- very simple recipes just on the job, what more can you need?! I follow Amy on Instagram so it was great to see her recipes in one place. The butter chicken was divine, I’m looking forward to cooking more!!! And the beautiful pics in the book mean your mouth is watering the whole way through!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow what a cook book! I love cook books but generally I end up cooking about 3 recipes out of every book...but not this one! There is such a range of recipes to cook and so tasty.

I really loved the chorizo Mariana and the easy butter chicken.

Who would have thought there were so many recipes that you could cook just using the hob. Perfect for any level of cook, anyone short on time, or just anyone who wants to multi task like a pro!

Do you know another thing I love about this book...the ingredients are simple. They are genuinely ones where you can open your fridge or cupboard and cook the entire recipe without having to go to the shops.

I really recommend this book - get ready for tasty, simple, easy recipes whilst also impressing people!

Hob is a great idea for busy people – a cookbook full of recipes that can be created using just the hob, therefore avoiding the legnthiness (and often added ‘faff’) of using the oven.

Firstly, the design is pleasing and easy to read. From what I can tell there’s an image of every recipe, which is such a bonus in a recipe book – I really like to visualise a recipe before deciding whether to cook it (shallow of me perhaps? But still true…) and they’re lovely images too. The book is clearly laid out and has a really modern feel to it.

Now the most important bit – the recipes! As someone who is 90% veggie (but loves fish!), I was a bit worried it would all be meat-heavy dishes, and although there are indeed a lot of meaty recipes, there are also plenty of vegetarian options too. Plus a lot of the other recipes seem like the meat can easily be substituted for vegetarian or fish alternatives.

There’s also a good range of recipe ‘types’ – for example, one section focuses on lunch & brunch, one on ‘quick dinners’ and another on longer ‘weekend food’ plus a ‘budget wonders’ section – plus more!

I’ve already tried the tuna quesadillas which were really tasty and so easy (a simple recipe but I have to admit I wouldn’t have thought to put some of the ingredients together without this book inspiring me), the halloumi hash and the ‘roasted’ cauliflower mac & cheese. I also have many, many more on my list ‘to cook’ too – for me, the mark of a good recipe book is how many recipes I flag when I first flick through it – there were plenty added to my list from this one I’m pleased to say! Some of the highlights I am excited to try include lasagne(ish), cheesy crumb fish pie, Stilton spaghetti with walnut toastie bits, and the butternut saag – plus many more too!

I’d definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants a range of recipe ‘difficulties’ available to them. None of the recipes look hugely difficult but they do range from those which look mega-simple to a little more involved. None of the recipes involve a ridiculously complex ingredient list or specialist equipment, so it’s a great recipe book for someone who doesn’t want to spend hours in the kitchen but still wants tasty, varied dishes and some general food inspiration!

This is a book I will be buying in print, as I know it will be super handy to have in the kitchen.

This is a fabulous book full of quick and easy recipes. The author has brought together so many different ideas as well as some new ones. The recipes are laid out in an easy to read way and the few I have tried have been tasty, quick and easy.

Especially in the summer or warmer months, I don't want to be spending long in the kitchen cooking, this book definitely helps me with that. There are various sections in this book from the different breakfast, lunch and teatime recipes as well as the sweet section. I do love puddings and desserts and this book has some amazing stovetop ones.

As well as the recipe sections, there are also help, advice, tips and budgeting sections. These are great for helping with menu planning and for keeping the costs down. Often recipe books call for an elaborate range of ingredients, but not this one. There are some wonderful cheap and cheerful dishes that are very yummy.

I know it is often the case with recipe books, that they are bought, poured over and looked through and maybe the odd recipe tried. Not so with this one, there are many recipes that will become firm favourites and regular meals as well as some that I may persuade my finicky husband to try.

This is a great book for families as well as couples, easy to follow recipes, additional tips and advice and all laid out well. I really enjoyed reading this book and of course trying some of the recipes. If you like cooking, but are after new ideas then you really should consider this book. I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent cookbook - definitely a hit
5 stars

I love cookbooks but I often find them a bit hit or miss. Sometimes you get one or two recipes that you will make over and over, sometimes none, or sometimes, as is the case with this book, you get a whole host of recipes that you can’t wait to try.

As the blurb says - the concept of this book is simple - all the recipes are set to be made on the hob and in half an hour or less. The majority are one-pan dishes which really helps with the other ethos of the book which is quick and efficient - yet tasty and budget-friendly. And less washing up which is always a bonus!

The recipes are all simple and, of those I’ve tried and tasted, absolutely delicious and nice and filling. What I liked the most about the recipes is that they’re fairly traditional but have a nice twist on them to make them a little bit more interesting than the norm. I admit that I’m not overly adventurous in my food choices but even I would try some of the more unusual (for me, at least) ingredients and dishes. And even though there are some recipes that I don’t fancy, it would be simple to swap out ingredients to make them more to your liking.

The chapters in the book are:

Introduction
Kitchen Kit
Modern Meal Planning
The Hob Pantry
Lunch & Brunch
Quick Dinners
Weekend Food
Budget Wonders
A Low Simmer
Midweek Crowd Pleasers
Sweet Hob
Simple Sides

Then at the end there are a couple of pages where you can write up your own meal plans.

There’s a great range of recipes - both for when you’ve got a lot of time and when you’ve got none. Although there are loads to choose from in each chapter, I especially loved the sweet hob section. Some people neglect the puddings section so I’m delighted to see lots of deliciousness in that chapter. Each recipe also has a picture which is always key to a great cookbook. And the pictures are fairly simple and not arty farty nonsense - which is another plus point!

Apart from the first couple of chapters - which are fairly brief - there isn’t a lot of ‘talking’ by the author in each of the recipes. And even with that, she’s got a pleasant style that’s straightforward, informative and friendly.

Good recipes with a picture for each, simple and budget friendly - I would happily recommend this book and will look out for future cookbooks by this author. 5 stars.

Lots of useful hacks and how-tos for cooking solely on the hob,80 clever time-saving and budget-friendly recipes mostly for one-pan meals. Thank you Netgalley and publisher Bloomsbury Absolute for letting me read an ARC in return for my honest opinion.

Fantastic cook book with some really great recipes. What I like is that none of the recipes are overly complicated, I especially liked the brunch and lunch chapter. Think this will be a book I dip into regularly for ideas for meals.

This has got some great recipes in and many more I can't wait to try. I love the fact that each recipe has a picture of what it should look like and everything is set up so it's easy to follow.

I did find it a bit awkward to use the e-book, but will be looking into buying a physical copy which will solve that issue.

I loved this little cookbook. I don't tend to read many cookbooks as I don't cook that often but I was looking for some new ideas (for others to cook for me!) and this provided some great new ideas, lots of fresh ideas I hadn't seen before. The book is very well presented with good colourful photos throughout which I love and find really helpful when choosing what to cook or to ask others to cook for me!

Lovely and easy recipes. The recipes are explained in an easy manner. There are different categories and I liked that there were different kinds of desserts, like even a brownie recipe. At the end of the book it can be found a meal planner and a shopping list that it can be useful for some people.

Whilst neither especially new or exciting this book has a good variety of recipes that should appeal to anyone with little time or enthusiasm but wants to cook food from,, more or less, scratch quickly. An interesting mix of starters, mains and even desserts, mostly one pot, on the hob as the title suggests. Clear and straightforward instructions, easily accessible ingredients and a tasty range of recipes for both carnivores and vegetarians. . Thanks to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing Plc for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review

I love a good hob meal and the more I can find of these the better, I really do love to cook on gas ;)

This recipe book is stuffed full of so many quick, easy and yummy recipes that I was left drooling as I flicked through them.

This is going to become a very well thumbed book and I think I will probably end up buying myself the hardback copy as well.

A wonderful easy cook book which doesn’t require any special ingredients. Great inspiring recipes to rustle up only using your hob.
