OMG a cookbook that just lets you cook stuff on the hob!! Just what I need at times when you don't want the oven on making it far too hot in the kitchen.

The book is divided into 8 chapters and an introduction:
- lunch & brunch
- quick dinners
- weekend food
- budget wonders
- a low simmer
- midweek crowd pleasers
- sweet hob
- simple sides

The introduction provides details on the pans you will need to use and the ingredients you would have in your cupboards.

Each recipe is accompanied by a full-colour photograph, simple instructions that have metric measurements for the ingredients.

I love the recipes, they look so easy to make and very appetizing- there are plenty of recipes to chose from! It's also surprising to see in the sweet section that you can make brownies and in the midweek crowd-pleasers it shows you how to make lasagne(ish).

This is certainly a book that I would add to my cookery book collection.

I am always looking for a new cookbook so this one is a pleasant surprise. The author’s recipes are ones I already make for my family but with different ingredients so I am excited to try these. Also, like that she offers meat, vegetarian options, and using staples already in my pantry and fridge. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

This is the type of cookbook everyone needs! Real family friendly food that can be made using just your hob.

This book is laid out in easy to use chapters so you can easily find what you are looking for. Recipes are clearly laid out and the instructions are straight to the point.

I LOVE that each recipe includes a photograph showing the finished meal, it really helps bring the cookbook to life and I have several new recipes to try this week alone because of this.

I can see this becoming a staple cookbook in my home.

Loved this! Exactly what a cook book should be, and does exactly what it says on the tin!

The breakfast recipes just look amazing! I can't wait to try more of those. The recipe's are not your usual recipes - they seem really unique and original. The format of the book is great, and is so easy to dip in and out of. The chapters are broken up into meal times which is super useful! The recipe's look stunning, and sound stunning - but also super simple. It's not daunting at all.

Also the photography in the book is stunning too! There is a photo for every recipe - something that is a must for me with a recipe book!

So many new recipe ideas to try! Loved this!!

This is the cookbook every student and busy individual needs.

What I loved most about this book is that the majority of the recipes were less than 30 minutes of cook time so once all the prep is taken care of, you have a rough idea of how long it will be before your meal reaches the table. What's more, the prep time is minimal because the steps and ingredients included in the recipes are so few yet produce these amazing tasting meals. The book is a real example of where less is more.

The book starts off with a good description of the instruments and ingredients you may want to ensure you have on hand at all times as staples and then it launches into some rather simplistic recipes. I say simplistic because they are the equivalent of a toasted sandwich and yet the recipes remain simple even when you are making curries and noodle dishes, and a range of exotic meals I'd never heard of before. As always, I could've done with a longer sweet section but there was a good supply of desserts to satisfy most.

5/5 stars for the production of a beautifully illustrated, well presented and useful tool that would do wonders for the modern family, single person, or student. Fuller flavour at little cost and little time.

What a great little cookbook. I for one never realised how many things you could make just using a hob. As a mom and teacher I'm forever looking for new batch meals that are easy and quick to cook but nutritious and this has provided me with some amazing inspiration.

I have bookmarked so many pages and cannot wait to try the halloumi and sundried tomato toasties, the popcorn chicken, banana and peanut butter pancakes and my oh my just look at that s'mores' hash!! I have added a few recipes to this weeks meal plan already.

I will be keeping an eye out for more from Amy Sheppard. Thanks to Netgalley and Bloomsbury books for allowing me the chance to read and review this cookbook. I am pretty sure it is going to become a firm favourite for me and my family!

I love reading recipe books and I look at all the recipes and think I'm going to make that one day, but they are often time consuming and difficult, However, Hob is crammed filled with easy to cook recipes all on a hob! So many fab recipes and can't wait to try some. Always good to get some new ideas and mix up what I cook for my family.

Hob is instantly going to become my go-to cooking book. I love the simplicity, the layout and the beautiful pictures.
The chapters are set out in a great way, divided by meal times, budget and speed.
The recipes are well thought out, simple and use ingredients I mainly keep at home anyway. I really like how adaptable they are too, I know I could switch one element for another if I needed to. (Eg fish / shellfish for chicken if we’re eating all together with the kids)
I’m sure the “weekend food” will be a firm favourite with everyone in the house, who doesn’t love homemade pizza or a fakeaway!
Whilst everyone has one or two dishes to cook on the hob I really love that this is a cookbook devoted entirely to that way of cooking.
Amy Sheppard seems very relatable from the introduction and snippet before each recipe and I will be having a look at her other foodie books.

It had never occurred to me that you could make a toastie by frying it, honestly, I sound a little silly saying it, but there are a lot of recipes in here that you can make on the hob that I simply hadn't considered. And how about making pizza in a pan? Well that's something new! There are also lots of delicious recipes, all full of flavour and excitement, giving me tons of new ideas. I love the cheesy-crumb fish pie, which is a bit of a classic, but I'd never added mustard before. The creamy tandoori meatballs is something I'd never even thought of, so there's a good mix between familiar classics and totally new concepts for me.

I really like the dessert section. Bakewell pudding sounds amazing, but so does the entire sweet section.

I appreciate the fact that this recipe book uses standard British measurements - grams and not cups, but I do wish it had some nutritional information per recipe. The vast majority of the ingredients are easily found in any supermarket and the recipes are written in a way that makes it very easy to follow, whatever experience you have in the kitchen. A lot of the recipes come with beautiful photography and I like that the serving dishes are different in all the photos, giving me some ideas for dinner settings and presentation too.

As is obvious from the title this is a recipe book that only requires use of the hob. It was inspired when the authors oven broke a few days after Christmas and had to adapt her menu to only meals that can be cooked on the hob.

This book has beautiful colour photographs of the dishes. If you are reading the kindle version like i did I would strongly advise you read it on a tablet via the app. The thing that I most appreciated about this book was that there is no fancy ingredients required for these recipes. You could walk into any UK supermarket and easily get all the ingredients. There are quick and easy recipes and those that require a bit more time and effort. There are some great recipes in here some that I would probably adapt to our taste others that I will follow to the letter. I have read this recipe book cover to cover for the purposes of this review. I haven’t attempted any of these recipes yet but I am excited to do so.

Amy Sheppard has created a fabulous family friendly cook book for busy, budget conscious cooks. Hob is clearly written, descriptive without being complicated. The addition of meal planning pages helps us to shop savvy and make the most of cheaper ingredients whilst making delicious meals and with a few hints and tips, one pot cooking on the hob couldn't be simpler. Also a great book for campers, caravaners and fire-pit cooks! I'll certainly be adding this to my travel bookshelf for future camping trips.

Well I think this fab cookbook has just become one of my favourites! Personally, I prefer cooking on the hob/stove, so this cookbook is a must-have for me. It is full of LOTS of meals that have clear instructions and are accompanied by a picture. They are pretty much made using ingredients that you will find in your cupboard, alongside meat/veg most people would usually by weekly,

I am keen to try the cinnamon and apple rolls and look forward to making them this weekend 😋

At the beginning of the book it details what kitchen equipment that is needed and why, along with a general introduction to the book. It ends with an index and some practical pages that can be filled in to create your own weekly meals plans with shopping lists and charts to log meals.

A fab book with recipes which I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into!

**I received an advanced copy of this ebook to read and review. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me this opportunity**

This looks amazing! We typically spend two weeks in France each summer (pre covid) and we have a hob to cook on for the two weeks, I was all out of ideas apart from the usual curry or spag bol, but this book is packed full of recipes that look amazing.
I will try some recipes over the next few months in the hope we get away next year

What a great cookbook I am so glad I discovered this as I’m already about to try the deviled crumpets with poached egg who knew. I love the simplicity of the ideas but also the variety as I am really struggling especially with different lunch ideas now myself and my husband work from home but this book has filled my head with ideas and I can’t wait to start making some of these dishes plus I don’t even need my oven just the hob.

The best thing about this book is all recipes can be cooked on a hob! Fantastic. Giving this book to my daughter who is buying her first house this month. Sure she will miss my home made cooking but with this book she can’t go wrong. So quick and easy to follow and a picture for each recipe.

This is a brilliant cook book. It is really straightforward and practical to use. I wasn’t much into cooking pre-lockdown but during lockdown I started to take more interest in cooking and have gradually learned to enjoy it, particularly one pot hob cooking, so this book is just perfect for me. I have found during the last year that many recipes are quite complicated requiring so many different elements that are expensive or I would probably only use the once but these recipes are fairly straightforward and include things that I already have in the cupboard or could easily get hold of and would use again. The recipes and cooking instructions are also really clear and easy to follow. Now I am off to bake some brownies...

Love, love, LOVE this book!

I actually had to stop reading it because my mouth was watering so much - each recipes has a picture too which is so helpful when you're cooking...but doesn't half make you hungry if you're browsing!

I love the premise of this book - all of the meals are made on the hob. Many of the recipes are one pot meals, and every recipes has a handy icon at the top of the page to tell you how many pans are required - genuis!

The ingredients are all things that are readily and easily available here in the UK and the steps are easy to follow. Each recipe is subheaded with servings and cooking time - I love this for when I'm meal planning as it makes it easy to consider how each meal will fit into our day. There is a great variety of dishes for all times of day and I can't wait to cook some of them!

This is everything you need from a cookbook

Some amazing recipes that I cannot wait to try out.

I brought Amy's first book and loved it.

This is a kitchen must have.

This book is amazing. It is full of simple easy to make recipes which are made up of very few ingredients. The pictures are stunning and make your mouth water. Most of these recipes can be done very quickly and I’m pretty certain children everywhere would enjoy talking into these recipes.

I read through this very well put together cookery book in one afternoon and have noted the many recipes I will be trying over the next few days. I particularly like the way the recipes are broken into sections which will make looking them up much easier. The ingredients are all accessible and non pretentious, most of them will already be in people’s cupboards. A five star very useful book. I’m off now to prepare supper

This is the cookbook I wish I had had years ago.

Despite having been married for more than 45 years, cooking isn't one of my favourite things to do. (I like to eat - I just don't enjoy cooking). Some of the cookbooks on my bookshelf are in almost mint condition.

Having had a read through Hob today there are quite a lot of recipes I'm actually keen to try. They sound tasty and not too complicated. And you don't need an oven.

I like how the book is laid out. There are sections for quick meals, budget meals, crowd pleasers and more. The instructions seem clear and easy to follow with colour illustrations. Most of the required ingredients are easily available - nothing too extreme. I'm very tempted to buy some things that I've never considered adding to my shopping list so that I can try some of the recipes.

I reckon this recipe book has something for everyone, whether young and starting out or an older person (like me).

A very useful book in so many situations not just when one's oven is out of action, been there mid cake, four weeks later.....! Clear, easy recipes and enough general information at the beginning for even a novice cook to understand. Good photography accompanies each recipe to tempt the reader to try the dish. This book would be ideal for camping when restricted to a two burner camping stove or even with a caravan/motorhome/boat as most continental models don't have ovens. Invaluable in a bedsit situation where there is only a hob provided, been there but in the long and distant past and being young at the time would have loved this book! Personally, now being a lot more mature, most of the recipes I already do in one form or another but am intrigued to try the Brownies.

As a busy mum of two I’m always looking for new recipes we can all eat and enjoy together. Bonus points if they are quick and easy! This has so many great ideas and most recipients don’t take too much time to prepare. Lots of variety and not too many dishes! Win win! I’m looking forward to trying them and will Update my review with my thoughts! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers.

A great book of time-saving and practical recipes, without the fuss of endless lists of obscure ingredients. Suitable for anything from speedy midweek family meals to dinner parties, and packed with beautiful vibrant illustrations of every meal.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As someone who enjoys both preparing and consuming food but who dislikes mess, waste and frazzled nerves, I was delighted to be given a free ARC of Hob in exchange for an honest review, which is what follows. Although it was a novelty to follow recipes from my Kindle, rather than turning the pages of a cookbook, this collection of recipes has quickly established itself as my favourite. Split into sections such as lunch & brunch, speedy dinners, weekend food, budget wonders, low simmering dishes, or simple side dishes, this book offers recipes that can all be cooked and served in under 30 minutes with the minimum of fuss and equipment and without saving on taste or variety. Chorizo marinara, vegetable couscous, blackberry crumble or cinnamon rolls? All guaranteed to be manageable, palatable and kind on the budget and on the cook. What a fantastic recipe collection – keep recommending it so more people can have an escape from the frenetic chopping, simmering, frying, steaming and juggling multiple pots and pans that so many other cookbooks demand, and discover this worthy cookbook!

This is a lovely little recipie book. I've seen some absolutely amazing ideas to try with my family.

The recipes are simple, cost effective and easy to follow. The pictures look amazing and there is a lot of really helpful information in them.

I would have paid for this book given the opportunity.

This is a good cookbook for simple but easily replicated meals using items that are found regularly at home. It was nice that the recipes don’t require long lists of fancy ingredients.

The book is split into different categories, such as easy dinners and weekend meals. There will be something in there to suit all tastes.

So far I’ve tried a handful of recipes, but all have worked well and been tasty. These include 15 minute falafels, one-pot veg & feta couscous and butter chicken. My favourite so far has been the Smokey Bean Shakshuka. It’s become a firm brunch fixture on the menu here.

It’s certainly a cookbook that I would be happy to recommend

This cookbook is super-useful and easy to dip into. I loved the author’s friendly accessible tone and no-nonsense advice. You can use the book for a mid-week supper or a little more adventurous weekend feast. The recipes are easy to follow and this scaredy-cook got some great results! Thank you Amy for the cookbook I didn't know I really-needed #HOBBook #NetGalley

I do enjoy a good cook book. This one is full of recipes that can be done using only the hob. It has a variety of healthy recipes for breakfast, lunch, mains and sides - all using ingredients that you'll generally have hanging around in the kitchen without any fancy things needing to be bought.

I've bookmarked a handful of the recipes but have only got around to making one so far which was the devilled crumpets and poached eggs which was very nice and tasty. If all the others I plan to make are as good then I'm looking forward to it.

This is a great book. For a not very good cook like me this takes the fuss out of cooking and gives me a confidence to try meals I previously wouldn’t have attempted. Its well laid out and split into different meal types and plans and nicely illustrated with pictures too
