Hob by Amy Sheppard is an amazing recipe book full to the brim of easy to do recipes. The book is in different sections for each kind of meal, lunch and brunch, quick dinners etc. The recipes are easy to follow and easy to make, I’ve tried a couple and the ingredients are what you would have in your cupboards. The pictures are colourful and show you what the food would like.

Short of time, short of money? Entertaining friends or looking for a perfect mid-week meal? Discover 80 great-tasting, time-saving recipes with HOB! A really well-presented book, most of the recipes seem to have a good quality photo, which I really like. It makes for a very appealing and accessible book; as it’s always good to see what a recipe should look like, especially for beginners.

Works okay as an e-book but I would much prefer it as a hard copy! This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

A really great collection of varied recipes that can be cooked primarily on the hob. This really is a book that would be suitable for families big and small as well as the more ambitious student. I liked how it was split into sections so you could easily locate the type of recipe you're after whether that be something for the weekend or something a little quicker.

As a busy mum I'm always looking for ways to make quicker healthier meals and this book ticked all the boxes! I didn't need to buy any extra utensils or fancy pans, I could use what I already had. Never before had I realised you could make so many meals using just the hob, and with 80 recipes to choose from there was plenty of choice for any fussy eaters. With choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner there was lots to try and as a family we've decided to each choose a recipe we each want to try, and with the simple instructions the boys can help prep and cook. I found this well thought out with a budget wonders chapter, which I know will help many families and give some variations to oven cooked dinners.

Huge thank-you to Amy Sheppard and Bloomsbury Publishing PLC for allowing me to review this unique cookbook.

Our oven is mostly used for quick oven food when we can't really be bothered cooking, roasting veg, and baking. We mostly use the hob, and this is a wonderful cookbook focussing on hob cooking and creating nutritious, colourful, and quick food all on the hob. With a list of equipment and pantry staples included at the start, it is an easy dive in to creating dozens of recipes. Every recipe includes a beautiful full-colour photograph with simple instructions. There are quite a few challenging recipes and those that may require more time and focus than others, but the majority of the recipes are simple and suitable for beginners, in my opinion.

This is a perfect addition to my recipe book collection! As a busy mum with little time in the evenings, it is so nice to have a collection of simple recipes that result in really very nice meals! There is very little clean-up involved since the majority can be made with a pan or two, and the ingredients are staples that will be in your store cupboard or easily obtainable.

The recipes range from brunches, through hearty meals to desserts, and there is enough variety to keep me (as a vegetarian) and the rest of my family (meat eaters) interested and coming back to the book for more ideas. I love that the author has included ideas for adaptations for less confident cooks, and the pictures are great. This is one that I will definitely keep coming back to.

My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the arc to review.

Some really delicious yet simple recipes in this book. Lots of advice about what essentials to have in your kitchen and then a whole book of recipes, all things which can be cooked on the hob. An inspiring and very useful addition to anyone’s cookery book collection.

This recipe book is pretty basic- I think it would be great for people starting out/students, but for me the recipes erred a little too much on the bland side.

Real family food that can be made using just your hob, without the faff of an oven. The recipes are laid out nicely and are easy to follow!

Perfect!!

A great book, packed with easy and economical recipes, which don’t require an oven to cook them. Lots of practical ideas for all sorts of occasions, with both sweet and savoury recipes, all beautifully photographed in colour. A good book for feeding the family, but also suitable for special occasions.

A great recipe book! This book was easy to access and although I read from the start to the finish, it didn't have to be read this way. I am definitely going to try some of the recipes in this book.

I'm a fan of cooking quick meals, so this recipe book is a joy!
The recipes are well presented and illustrated. Cooked only on the hob, this would be ideal for summer evenings, when using the oven would be unbearable.
I look forward to introducing some of these meals to my family and encouraging my student son to attempt cooking them.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All views expressed are my own.

This has a wonderful selection of recipes and the chapters are clearly defined such as budget dinners or quick dinners. Clear instructions, pictures of the end product and easy to source ingredients makes it user friendly. The only slight negative is that it appears a majority of these recipes use chilli and because I am not very tolerant of spicy heat I know I won’t make these and although Amy makes it clear you can adapt the recipe to suit your tastes I wouldn’t know what to put in place of it or whether omitting it will make it tasteless so would love a little note on these saying what you could use instead or whether it is a necessity.

Some fun recipes with a great premise of using only the hob to cook - some surprising things you never knew you could do with just a pan!

“Hob” by Amy Sheppard is the product of a happy accident. Her oven broke so she had to think outside the box and prepare meals using only her hob.
Well I for one am extremely grateful that that oven broke down, inspiring this book. With 80 recipes, I was spoilt for choice for which recipe to try first. There’s recipes for every possible occasion and craving - brunch, weekends, midweek, quick meals, entertaining and desserts. Not only that, there are meal planning resources at the back of the book. I tried lots of different recipes across all the sections and enjoyed them all. The ingredients are easy to source and the instructions are easy to follow. Many of the recipes work well in a slow cooker too giving you extra flexibility.

This is a brilliant cookbook which I’ll refer to time and time again for our new family favourites.

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and Bloomsbury Absolute for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest opinion
