This book caught my attention from page one. It had me questioning what I would do if I were in the characters shoes. What lengths would I go to to protect my family?
Siblings Joe,Cathy and Frannie are on holiday in Italy. One night Joe and Cathy receive a phone call from Frannie which changes their lives forever. She has killed someone and begs for their help. Their actions start a spiral of events which threaten to rip the entire family apart.
The characters in the book are beautifully written. The author has a talent which allows the reader to feel like they know each character personally.
I really enjoyed this book one which had me reading well into the night .
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for my chance to read this twisty page turner.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.
I’ve read and loved all of Gillian McAllister’s previous books my favourite being How to disappear.
For me this was a slow burner that got better the second half, I liked the way the chapters flowed with the POVs.
I didn't see the twist coming either which was cleverly written.
I had high hope's for That Night, I enjoyed it but unfortunately didn't love it as much as others.

Yet again Gillian has written a book that's left me gasping and turning the page. The characters are wonderful, you really feel like you know each of the siblings. Cathy was one of my favourite of Gillian's characters so far, there was something about her that felt so real and relatable. The ending was surprising, but also not as the writing really gave you a sense of knowing them so well. Just wonderful writing from my favourite author.

I loved the premise of the book and found the story very twisty and turny, always a good start to any crime/thriller novel. There is no doubt that this is a page turner and it keeps you hooked and makes you want to read 'just another chapter', before putting the book down.
I was engrossed in the story and the backstory and I liked the characters. I thought the dynamics between the siblings were very believable and I enjoyed the memories and the secrets being drip-fed! There was no doubt in my mind, how close the siblings were and what they would be prepared to do for each other, when the chips were down! I love the way McAllister draws her characters, you really do feel as if they are in your sitting room with you and you are willing them on, hoping they will succeed in the end!
I would definitely recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Another great thriller from Gillian McAllister. It had me holding my breath at points and kept me guessing right up to the end. I think it would have been 5 stars for me if it had drawn me in a bit more quickly at the start, but overall a great read and I’d definitely recommend.

I always love Gillian McAllister's writing so couldn't wait to get stuck into this! It's a really gripping story, as you'd expect from McAllister, and one that'll definitely keep you reading late into the night. The characters were completely believable and I loved the pace of the storytelling. Definitely recommend!

Well this book left me glad I’m an only child for sure as the three siblings in this make for uncomfortable reading. A tragedy in their past left the Plant siblings just a little too close, they live next door to each other and work together in the family vets practice and just rely on each other too much. I felt really sorry for Lydia who was married to Joe the eldest and who was always second place to his sisters and quite excluded from the family, overall the relationships in here were just unhealthy which did make it harder for me to read. I fully understand why they covered up the death and reading about the impact that had on them and how they gradually crumbled with the anxiety of it after the event all balanced with the knowledge that somehow the law has caught up with them in the present all made for an intriguing read but it just lacked the edge I want from a thriller but it was undoubtedly creepy.

A gripping thriller that I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish!
I really enjoyed this book, it contained a few twists, a couple I saw coming and a couple that took me completely by surprise.

Gillian McAllister is one of my go-to authors if you want to read a tense exciting, well written psychological thriller with well developed characters and an original plot containing a series of twists.
It is a formula that is guaranteed to be a sure fore success and "That Night" totally fits the bill.
I read it over a weekend and loved it. I will not provide spoilers but please make this one of your reads - you will not be disappointed!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ firstly, I have loved the author’s previous books so went into this one with high hopes.
However as you can see, it took me almost a month to read it!
Something didn’t click for me with this one. The characters were all annoying and a bit unbelievable. Evan?! The whole Will/Frannie bit.
Anyway I’m clearly in the minority so maybe it was just me.

Absolutely breathtaking tale of how far you’d go to protect your family. This book has some incredible jaw-dropping moments that you truly don’t see coming and left me feeling both exhilarated and terrified. Loved the UK - Verona setting. Can’t recommend enough.

Such a twisty book! A page turner with twists and turns everywhere, but not too many that you can’t follow whats going on.
I was absorbed in the story and the backstory and memories were written so well and added depth to the characters who I thought were written brilliantly. The sibling realationships were written perfectly and you could really feel the strength of their bond.
The only thing I didn’t like was that the end had so much action, which was great and tied the story up well, but it made the book seem really unbalanced with the beginning already seeming bit slow. I would’ve liked the pace to have picked up more in the middle to make the ending feel a bit less chaotic

When Cathy answers the phone in the night to her sister asking for help, it will change their lives forever. Frannie has killed a man near their holiday villa. With Cathy and their brother, Joe, helping to hide the body how will life be when they return to the UK.
Yet again Gillian is on fine form with this book. It’s gripping and portrays the pain of a family when ripped apart by one action. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

A thrilling, captivating story that is impossible to put down.
When Frannie calls her siblings Joe and Cathy in the middle of the night asking for help, they have no idea what they are signing up for. A dead body, and a cover up later, they all think that maybe they can move on from this, but life has other ideas.
This book is so wonderfully written, you feel well and truly immersed in the world that the Gillian McAllister has created from the start. The characters are well developed and charismatic, each of them adding new depths to this already riveting story.

Absolutely fantastic! One night changes the lives of a family, and you’re kept gripped until the end. I have read all Gillian Mcallister’s books and loved them all. This one certainly didn’t disappoint, I’d definitely recommend it

A family holiday to Verona ends takes a catastrophic turn for Cathy, Frannie and Joe and the twists and turns keep coming from start to end. A captivating and thought provoking read. How far would you go to protect a sibling?

One night changes the whole dynamic of a family. Joe, Cathy and Frannie are siblings – the two older ones are vets and Frannie is the receptionist for the business. They live together in three separate cottages and are very close. Frannie has a little boy called Paul from a holiday fling. They go on holiday to their holiday home in Verona and that is where things go drastically wrong. The siblings are very protective of one another especially Joe as far as Frannie is concerned and probably looks after her and cares for her over and above his wife needs which will cause problems in the long run. Frannie makes a frantic call to Joe and Cathy in the middle of the night as she has had a car accident. The family takes things into their own hands which leads to trouble. Once home the family begins to fall apart with the secrets they are bonded together with and more of the story unfolds from Frannie. The story continues down the road of destruction of each one’s mental capacity to live with their Verona holiday which eventually comes back to haunt them. It is a good read and it makes you wonder what you would do for your siblings if they were in a very similar situation – thought provoking to say the least.

This book is amazing. I read the authors previous book How To Disappear and totally loved it, so there was a lot to live up to but this book was just as good. This book is about 2 sisters and a brother, How far would you go to protect your family? Would you protect them even if it involved murder? Read this book and it will keep you gripped right from the start up to the last page. I am now going to download the authors previous books.

The three Plant siblings have always been close. An inseparable bond, the family work together, live next to each other and regularly socialise with one another. One hot summers day in Italy, Cathy and Joe receive a call from Frannie declaring that she had killed someone. Together the siblings cover up the crime to protect Frannie but changing their lives forever.
Gillian McAllister has done it again. An incredible read with so many twists and turns. The tangle of lies makes the reader wonder who is telling the truth and question how this story was going to end. You MUST add this one to your to be read list.
Thank you to NetGalley, @penguinuk and of course Gillian McAllister for this ARC

During a family holiday in Italy, you get an urgent call from your sister. There's been an accident: she hit a man with her car and he's dead. She's overcome with terror - fearing years in a foreign jail away from her child. She asks for your help. It wasn't her fault, not really. She'd cover for you, so will you do the same for her? But when the police come calling, the lies start. And you each begin to doubt your trust in one another.
Wow, McAllister just keeps delivering exhilarating reads! Yet again, this is a fast-paced, intense read with a unique plot that had me gripped from the start. McAllister really does have a talent for complex plots that leave you breathless and in awe of her talent and how everything gets pulled together. The plot alone is strong but once you add in all the tricks and twists up McAllister's sleeve, this becomes an unforgettable read.
This book is packed with twists, some are more obvious than others. I was pleased with myself for having worked out some twists and thought that would be that, but oh no, McAllister had other ideas! From out of nowhere came some truly shocking twists that completely blindsided me and left me speechless. It certainly made for exciting reading.
I have already mentioned that this is an intense read but I need to stress just how intense it is. From the beginning, McAllister builds this atmosphere of intensity. From the summer weather in Verona, to the actions of the characters and the far-reaching consequences. The atmosphere is taut, packed with pressure that is waiting to implode, it makes for very special reading.
McAllister always writes her books in interesting styles too, that only add to my enjoyment. This is no different. I will not go into details but you are in for a real treat as you experience this read and discover how everything is included for a reason and gets brought together.
Finally, after all that, I move onto the characters and yes they are every bit as special as the plot. We have our three main characters, siblings, who could not be any closer. Perhaps they are too close, this only adds to the tension though. The trio are a special group of characters and I cannot stress enough how enjoyable it was to get to know them and live this story through them.
'That Night' is an electrifying, unforgettable read and I cannot recommend it enough. Well done McAllister, this is another sensational, complex read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for an advance copy.
