I love this author, I’ve read a few by her and they’ve never failed to completely absorb me into the storyline. This was no exception, a brilliant read and I was totally engaged.

I enjoyed a lot about this book, the dual timeline, which made me question what I thought was going to happen. I also liked the characters, though their loyalties to each other felt a bit exaggerated to me, and they appeared to be really close. I found the twists exciting and unexpected and I flew through this book. An engaging and thrilling read!

Overall an Ok read. Siblings are on holiday in Verona and come to the aid of one of them to cover up a hit and run. The secrets begin to spiral out of control and relationships break down. Overall an OK read but not the best.

Really enjoyed this book despite working out a lot of the plot twists. Would have liked more descriptions of Verona.

Siblings Cathy, Joe and Frannie are close, too close... They work together in the family Veterinary practice while also living next door to each other. Their family loyalty is put to the test when Frannie accidentally kills someone in a hit and run while on holiday in Italy and Joe and Cathy have to come to her aid. they decide to bury the body and keep the secret... but one lie leads to another and another and soon it is spiralling out of control...

I enjoyed the story though I found some aspects a little predictable and easy to guess the next move. Overall a good read.

The plot for this book gave me a lot to think about. I am one of 3 siblings, we're 2 sisters and a brother, so immediately I asked myself.....would we do this for each other? Would we cover up a murder or a crime for each other?? Well I hope I never have to find out, because Heaven knows I could never deal with the stress that Frannie, Cathy and Joe go through in this book.

Personally though, I could not connect with the characters, and I felt that the book was just too drawn out for what it was in the end. Also, I thought there was more about Rosie......just me???

I was so excited to read this after LOVING Wrong Place, Wrong Time...and I really enjoy Gillian's writing style. There was a lot to unpack in this book, especially around family and trust. I think if you're looking for an easy read, good plot, good writing, you'd enjoy this, if you don't mind that it's a bit on the longer side.

I absolutely loved this book! I am a big fan of this author’s writing and this one certainly did not disappoint. We had multiple character perspectives, multiple timeframes and twists that packed a punch that I definitely did not see coming. This was the perfect thriller and I think my favourite of this author so far.

I have enjoyed Gillian McAllisters' previous books but this one didn't meet my expectations. It was almost farcical at times and the siblings relationship was very unhealthy.

McAllister has provided a fantastic thriller and incredible character study as we watch a group of siblings fall apart after an event which looks set to change their lives forever. I could picture each character so perfectly, this is just crying out to made into a movie!

I was lucky enough to be sent this by the publisher.
Incredible psychological thriller with a weird family dynamic. I loved the character development and the story. 5/5 definitely recommend

“That Night” is a taunt psychological thriller which pits family members against each other. Families stick together, right? Well sometimes a family member can ask too much!

The Plants are a close-nit family. They live near each other and have taken over their parents’ vet practice. There is nothing they will not do for each other. But what happens when the favour one of them asks is just too big to keep a secret?

This is a an extremely tense psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. The book switches between what happened in Italy and the present day. You could feel the love between the siblings slowly turning to mistrust and anger. Their once idyllic lives were being torn apart by jealousy and all the time the lies were stacking up!

I am a massive fan of this author. The reason I have not given her 5 stars this time is because I lived and breathed Gillian’s last book - “How to Disappear”.

🌟Gripping, tense & twisty!⠀
🌟An emotional rollercoaster, you don't want to miss! I was totally emersed in this unique storyline, how far would you go to protect your sister?
🌟I really loved how this book was written. The characters are so relatable, down to earth, and believable. You really feel for them, fear for them. It's funny, frustrating and beautifully written
🌟The short chapters are constantly adding to the tension and so addictive making it impossible to put down until the very end.
🌟This is McAllister's best not to be missed!⠀

This was such a thought provoking book! Really made me ask myself what would I have done in the same situation?
Three siblings on holiday help Frannie to cover up a crime and the pressure of what they have all done, weighs heavily on them all

I’m embarrassed to say that this book is my first read by Gillian McAllister. (I know, I know. Even though all her books have been sitting on my bookshelf for some time now!) I’d heard such amazing things about Gillian’s latest, and my word, I haven’t read something quite this good in…well, forever!

I feel like I’m just about the repeat what so many others have said before me, but this book is genuinely flawless, and I mean that with every fibre of my being. Incredible character creation and development, a plot that made me sweat and panic just as much as the characters, a brilliantly unique writing style that I don’t think can ever be topped in my eyes and an overall gripping and captivating feel from start to finish. If you love thrillers, this is a must read!! 435 pages of pure perfection. Why isn’t there a 435 star rating? This book is more than worthy of that.

A great family drama of a book with a murderous twist. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one.

Full of lies and deceit that I was pulled in from the very first page. What a beginning to a novel! The story is told from each of the siblings involved and as the stakes are raised, it’s questioned how far each one will really go to protect their family.

Short, pacy chapters made me raise through it and absorb the events as they unfold. However, some areas did fall a little flat at times but overall this didn’t impact my enjoyment.

As usual in my reviews I will not rehash the plot (plenty of reviews like that out there already if that's what you're looking for).

Although this is a very well-written and well-plotted book, I cannot say I actually enjoyed reading it (though I persevered) - because it made me feel really uncomfortable and upset. I guess that's the sign of great writing though, to make you actually feel something - even if it's something you didn't expect to feel!

The plot had a few great twists that I hadn't expected, which I'm always pleased about in a novel as I read a lot in the crime genre. I can't really say what they are without revealing the plot, so you'll just have to read it for yourself to find out!

Character-wise, I did not like any of the main players - even without the way they handled the events it was clear that they were all damaged and flawed in some way, but again, they were well written and multi-dimensional.

I'm giving this 3 stars purely because of how it made me feel - but it's good writing so if you're up to it, don't be put off.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.
