I have just read this in a day, I could not put it down, by far the best book I've read this year and I read at least 4 a week! . action packed from start to finish.
The characters were all brilliant, a car accident, then going back to build up the lives of Jill's three boys and their families, each family were brought to life, I loved Mimi and Andrea, Darren and his quest for love.
I'm a bit gutted I've finished what an amazing book with amazing characters
If there were more than 5 stars I'd give it

This was such a great book, a pleasure to read. The author doesn’t waffle and gets right into the story. Some books have have to many threads to keep tabs on, no this one! Loved the family drama and read it in one day

I loved this book!!!

It follows a mother, her three adult sons and their families and covers so many themes and plot points but in a lovely, subtle, easy to read way. There is never a moment where you feel confused as to who is who or how they fit together. It goes to show that no matter how close a family are appearances can be deceiving and no one really knows the full ins and outs of another person’s life and even though I hope never to be in the same situations faced by any of the characters I found them all very relatable.

The multiple view points are all woven together really nicely and pull you through the story. I couldn’t put the book down because I felt I needed to know what had led the family to the crash and what the outcome would be.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An Australian family, consisting of a woman, her 3 grown boys, 2 daughters in law and 4 grand children is making plans to spend Christmas Eve at their vacation home, as is tradition. We meet all of these characters and learn about them over about a month's time leading up to Christmas Eve. Certain characters are hiding secrets from their other family members that won't be revealed till nearly the end.

This is a very well written FAMILY DRAMA. There is nothing wrong with the book, in fact I mostly enjoyed it, but I don't think it should be listed in the mystery/thriller category. This was the second book I had read from this author and I thought it was a stretch to put the first in this category and this was a bigger stretch. I typically don't like books where we get introduced to a lot of characters early on, because I have trouble keeping track of who's who. I must say I did not have that problem here at all. I thought the author did a good job of introducing us to everyone and making each character unique enough that it made for easy reading and I did want to know what secrets people were hiding, but being a mystery/thriller reader, I guess I like the reveals to be a bit more explosive. Overall though, a good general fiction family drama.

I didn’t even wait a moment before jumping straight in and devoured this in a day. Absolutely gripping, beautifully paced family drama. There are lots of characters to keep up with, but the writing is so smart you never get lost. The individual threads feel so real and vividly familiar but still the tension leaves you comfortably uncomfortable. I recommend you stay up late like me and find out what really happened behind the collision.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I feel like I got a different book than everyone else who left reviews. I made it 15% and nothing held my interest. I gave up.

This was a superb domestic thriller focusing on the aftermath of a shocking accident. The characters were well drawn and the storyline kept me glued to the pages.

Gosh, what an amazing book! I loved every word of this one.
The writing is truly beautiful and the story and characters develop throughout. It’s engaging, thought provoking and hugely enjoyable.
There’s some tough topics throughout but these are written into the story well.
I’d recommend this to everyone. It’s a true 5 star read and I could happily read it all again!

Engaging Domestic Noir....
Wholly engaging domestic noir with just the right ingredients to stir that mounting tension and keep it bubbling from the first to the last page. Credible characters populate the taut plot which is peppered with secrets, lies, betrayals and twists. An addictive read.

After seeing this book mentioned on NetGalley’s Twitter feed, I knew I would enjoy it.
The book tells the story of a family - a matriarch, her three sons and their families - preparing for Christmas with someone missing. The current story is told by a number of characters, interspersed with the telling of an accident on the freeway. A multi car pile up, on Christmas Eve. A day that they were all dreading after the previous Christmas Eve and what happened on the freeway then....
I could not put this book down. I was drawn in by the characters- Mimi and Andrea in particular - and their family troubles.
Thank you NetGalley and thank you Nicola Moriarty.

This was a really good page turner for me & I couldn’t wait to read it in the evening. Another author for me to look out for. Highly recommended.

I would call this book more drama than a thriller. It’s really a novel about a family who is fractured long before the event in the novel and how they work through it. I love stories like this and I think most people will identify with at least a family member. Highly recommend five stars

A masterpiece.
You've a perfect family and now your perfect family planned to go somewhere in the holidays. The holidays are here. The extended family has gathered. The cars are packed and the convoy sets off.The cottage is a few hours' drive - but not everyone will live to see it . . .For Jill, her three sons, their wives and children, a terrifying road crash will tear apart their family.
Is your family loves you or is there someone who wants to see you dead and why? What have you done? What's the sinister secret you're hiding?
It's time to pay back.
It's a masterpiece by Nicola Moriarty. I loved it from starting to ending. I loved the character of Mimi very much.
Narration of the story is superb.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK Michael Joseph for giving me an advanced copy of this psychological thriller.
