⭐️⭐️⭐️

Description:
What if there were parts of our minds which we never use, but if awakened, could make us so much happier, connected and alive? What if awakening those parts could finally solve the conflicts and sufferings we all go through?

From the cutting edge, where therapy meets neuroscience, world-renowned author, psychotherapist and educator Steve Biddulph shows us how to reach into the deep feelings beneath our feelings, and how doing so can guide us to a more awake and free way of living every minute of our lives.

In Fully Human, Steve Biddulph guides us through the four-storey mansion of our unexplored mind, with tips on how to open each level up to the sunlight, allowing us to live equally in all its beautiful rooms.

Drawing on deeply personal stories from his own life, as well as those of his clients, and from the frontiers of thinking about how the brain works with the body, this culmination of a life's work uncovers how we can all be more alive, more connected.

Review:
Ah man, this was another book I found incredibly hard to review, and I am still struggling with my star rating. The theory, drawn from the author's incredible four decades of learning and experience, is on point.

I've had this book for a very long time since being given the review copy and returned to it many times. What I'm finding difficult is how practical its application is for each and every person, in every walk of life and situation. Having spent so long reading and rereading, I just don't think it's completely feasible.

To sum up: Fully Human may support you to feel more in touch with your feelings, but perhaps we're not all destined to reach the top floor.

While this felt like it would be an interesting topic, the delivery was pedantic and sluggish - very academic with hints of 'this' & 'that' is coming, but without them ever coming until it's repeated ad nauseum throughout.
What also killed it for me was the Kindle file provided for review - broken graphics, words missing entire syllables, which made for a very tedious read having to decipher a text that is already slow and cumbersome to begin with...
Sadly, did not make for an engaging read

Fully Human is a practical and inspiring read encouraging us to tune into the wisdom and intuition inside ourselves. The well known Australian family psychologist Steve Biddulph uses the analogy of a house with four floors to explain his basic theories, and encourages us to use this wisdom to lead a happy and fulfilling life. His forty years experience is culminated in this book, and its release is perfectly timed to help people through the pandemic crisis. It is an easy but informative read with lots of great ideas and inspiration for getting the best out of your life.

A mix of neuroscience and therapy, this is a thought-provoking book. Steve uses a clever analogy of a house with 4 floors, and suggests our minds are like that. He weaves neuroscience through personal stories of his own life as well as lessons learned from being a family psychologist for 40 years.

He seeds the idea throughout the book is that the secret to happiness and being free from anxiety is within ourselves - and by using our intuition and listening to our inner wisdom, we can work towards being a better and more rounded human being.

More Fully Human. I’m sure I’ll come back to this book time and time again! Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Netgally and PanMacmillan for an ARC of this great book. Having read previous works by Mr Biddulph I was excited to have the opportunity to read his latest book.
Here, he speaks of listening to your intuitions and describes having four floors in your human “being” and describes how to encompass each of these floors.

Trauma books seem to be the new trend in well-being reading at the moment and this book is one that I am confident will not only appeal, but benefit many readers.
I highly recommend it, nit was engaging, easy to read and rewarding.
Thank you Netgalley and PanMacmillan for the opportunity to review this book with my honest review.

Fully Human extends a warm invitation to join in celebrating the feeling of happiness and joy. The Australian family psychologist Steve Biddulph ruminates on the hidden wisdom of our body and how we can use this wisdom to lead a happy and fulfilling life. In this non-fiction book, Steve Biddulph presents the sum of his rich experience from forty years of work as a family psychologist. Our life and health are endangered in many ways today (political and economic crises, environmental crises, epidemics, violence), and it is anything but easy to lead a good, peaceful and humane life. But that's no reason to bury your head in the sand.

Steve Biddulph knows how to use the interplay of body, mind and soul for such a creative life. The secret of happy people, according to the bestselling author, is the rediscovery of the wisdom and cleverness of our body, the information of which helps us to be completely human, that is, to meet ourselves and the world with empathy and our own abilities and talents for to use the luck of as many as possible. An accessible, informative and interesting book with plenty of wisdom and advice for getting the most out of life regardless of who you are or where you hail from. Recommended.

This book is going to be so useful for me in my role as a financial coach. I loved the analogy of the four floors of the house - so many of us spend our time in just a couple of those floors, and maybe just a few rooms there. Having this knowledge opens up a world of possibility - to acknowledge why we feel the way we do and to heal. Very powerful.
