I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I have to say that I went into this book pretty blind and I was relatively impressed. I kept wanting to read so that I could find out how the story ends. I didn't really get how Chloe feels so strongly for someone she had a 2 week relationship years ago but hey that might just be me. I loved Brody and I think he is the reason I have to go onto book 2. I disliked that the book ended so abruptly and I'm left with so many answers.

I will say that I did enjoy the writing style and I will read more by this author. 3½ stars.

Behind every great man / woman is a wo/man. Or a Personal Assistant. Or a Spouse (at work). One that takes on all those pesky tasks that the great wo/man has not time for - booking dentist's appointments; taking the dog for a walk; buying presents for whomever; organising travel and accommodation; keeping the paperwork and meetings straight and ensuring that the diary slots in time for golf (or..); writing the memos they can't be bothered with. And so it goes on. some tasks are menial. Some are not. It all depends on the day - and the boss. But greatness requires that there be such a factotum operating behind the scenes. Smoothing their life to permit the greatness to shine.
And so we see here.
Only that was not the intended job for our heroine. She was really qualified for better and more - except that her certification didn't show it. So she needed to show it by performance. And so she did.
This a variation on the boss and the secretary theme of romance tropes and works well. The writing style is lively and judged nicely to fit with the trope. I enjoyed as a variation on the theme.

Chloe has worked for a respected Councilman for a number of years. In the election, he is unexpectedly beaten by a young wealthy businessman, Jax. Jax happens to be someone that Chloe dated in college. He broke up and left her and she was heartbroken. She is still in love with him and feels sparks the first time they are together. Jax is a businessman and is not familiar with how government offices work. He alienates the staff by trying to run it like a business. Jax takes Chloe away from the office to develop a business relationship with her and they end up in a hotel room together. She realizes that she needs to leave the position as she can’t be his right hand working for him everyday and be in love with him. He had told her that they can’t be in a relationship if he is her boss. She is bribed by the mayor to stay on in this position. This was a fun short read however the reader is left hanging to know what happens as the story concludes in the next book.

Jax and Chloe dated in college for a very short period and they cross paths again in life. This time Jax is an elected Councilman and Chloe is his chief of staff.

This book disappointed me at many levels:
1. I could not relate to the main character Chloe. She is independent and amazing but as soon as she meets the person she is in love with who also has ended things with her and vanished even without a word, she is hopeful she can have a shot with her.
2. There is absolutely nothing happening in the entire book except the last 10 pages. There is no need for book 2. The author could have combined it in just one book.

A quick fun read. I wouldn't consider this erotica by any means. It's got some sexy parts but nothing I wouldn't read in a typical romance. My biggest problem is the characters. I can't stand Jax, I wanted to shake Chloe. But I loved Brody. I didn't love it, but I will definitely read the next one because I want to know how it all ends up.

Three and one half stars. The writing was excellent, had problem with the heroine settling for a man who doesn't remember he slept with her and attempting to make him jealous? Possible I just didn't like the hero. Not my kind of guy.

Chloe’s boss, the city council member for District 5 in San Pacitas, lost his seat in an election everyone predicted he would win. Her new boss, Jaxson Bennett, is a brash, sexy ex-tech mogul turned politician and a new rising political star. When I started reading I couldn't put it downPax Sinclair is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book

I have been going through a NetGalley slump. I've been picking up a lot of losers that have been doing nothing for me, such as, rough starts that don't bring me in, no character chemistry, fiction that feels forced. While there are some parts of this story that feel forced, I happily went along with what this author was serving. I am surprised this book was labeled erotica as I didn't think there was anything really spicy happening here that I wouldn't get from plenty of other romance novels.

As someone that works/lives in Silicon Valley, I was really excited to read this over the weekend. Was completely enjoying this and hated walking away. I look forward to what happens next.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
I couldn’t put this book down and was pulling for one person in particular for Chloe to choose.
I will definitely be following up with the next book in the series.

It is a fast fun read. I will say I didn’t know it was a part one of two so the cliffhanger got to me but it was a good story and I can’t wait to see what happens in part two.

Very sexy, rolls along at a nice clip. But...............I dislike cliffhangers. Had I known, I wouldn't have read until the next book was out, lol

ARC/Netgalley

I didn’t realize this was a two part book. I think it would have been a lot better to have wrapped up their story all at once. Not even sure I’m looking forward to the 2nd part. Didn’t really keep my interest. Thank you for the ARC copy

If you are looking for a quick, steamy read then this is for you. I enjoyed reading about Chloe, who is dedicated to her job as a city councilman’s chief of staff. I liked her passion for her job, but I didn’t like some of the dumb choices she made throughout the book. Her obsession was Jax was a little unhealthy and in my head he’s manipulative. I don’t mind a dark, brooding male lead but there are som plot holes that are missing that I am dying to know if the next book answers. Over all I gave three stars. It was entertaining and a good way to spend an hour.

They have a teenage fling, that just stops. Years later they meet in the workplace again and the deep attraction, (which they act on), is there stronger that ever.

This story is part of a series and I was really disappointed at the cliffhanger/nothing ending, as I felt cheated from the completion of the story.

Just saying that I wouldn't normally select a story without a proper ending.

A fast, sexy read, Work Spouse was a great palate cleanser! My only complaint is the cliffhanger at the end, I need to know who she chooses!!

Work Spouse is the story of Jax, a tech mogul and rising politician who just won an election, and Chloe, his Chief of Staff and his one-time college fling for two weeks. Chloe never got over him. In trying to attract Jax, Chloe used Brody, a firefighter who is pursuing her, to make Jax jealous.

It's an intriguing story with tons of emotion and plenty of drama. Throw in a few twists and you have a story that had me turning the pages right to the end and still left wanting more with the cliffhanger ending. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book

This story seemed intriguing. I'm always a sucker for books related to politics. That being said I found the plot and the way it progressed in this book difficult to believe and that sucked me out of the reading flow. I still finished this in one sitting, but found myself pulled out of the story because a lot of the events, actions and conversations just seemed too strange and not realistic. There are also a lot of grammatical errors which were distracting. I was hoping for more of a enemies to lovers story, and instead it was more of a weirdly accelerated crush and a strange scheme to make everything work out. The female protagonist went from being nervous about seeing/working with our protagonist to saying she wanted to marry him to her sister and then admits she is in love with the guy in question to his face before his first week is finished. That being said the end of the story made me curious about how this will end so I would definitely read book 2. Though I am hoping our protagonist winds up with the better man in this book...
