The cover of this book is adorable and I love stories about rescue dogs. The story reminds me of how one of my rescue dogs turns into a "monster" after bath time, luckily without the destruction. This is a quick, cute book but I wasn't a fan of the illustrations.

Mia the Monster is a children's book that depicts the chaos of bathing a dog and the excitability some dogs get when getting out of the bath - or finding the dirt again!
I liked the concept of this book - it is a very familiar scene in this household (maybe not quite so destructive) but I did not enjoy the book. The narrative did not flow well for me and I felt the weighting of words per page was not balanced. However my son enjoyed some of the silliness especially the phrase "spinning like a cement mixer" when describing Mia on the table. I think the book is aimed at a younger audience than intended.

Mia the Monster was a lovely book to read to my 4 year old son. We both love dogs and enjoyed reading about Mia's adventures around her house. The illustrations were also lovely.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This is a very quick read and with its delightful pictures, I can see it really appealing to a child of pre-school age. My one and only criticism is that it does not shine a good light on rescue dogs and I would have liked to see an ending that showed Mia's sweeter side. Still, this is unlikely to bother a young reader and I would buy this for a relative in the pre-school age bracket.

Having a young child myself, this was an easy book to choose and review. My child also loves dogs, so this definitely fit the bill with our family. We both loved Mia, and loved her energy. This was definitely not like any other book I have read to my child, and we have dad many books over the past couple years. I felt the dialogue was a little stiff, but good for a young child. I would recommend this book to others, especially with the examples of patience displayed in the book. Most people would have gotten super frustrated with Mia, but this family did not. Great example!

Cute story and cute illustrations! I read this to my 3 1/2-year-old and she loved it. She thought the apples falling off the table was very funny.

Lovely easy read, made my younger sister laugh! Beautiful representation of what having a dog is like sometimes and the illustrations were great.

The children who own dogs would love this funny story about Mia. It is not easy to look after a dog, and this book will help children understand this little problem. I'm not particularly fond of the illustrations or the colour palette, and the cover could use a little love.

A small glimpse of the life of a mischievous, adorable dog, cute illustrations, and a fun children's book. 5/5

Mia is getting a bath, but that's just not her style. My young daughter loves this book. It's a great book for a child who is a dog lover and fun for a dog loving adult to read to that child. Simple language and charming pictures have made this a great choice for my child.

This was a cute book about the 'joys' of owning a new puppy haha. For me, it was just an okay read. The illustrations were just okay as was the story, My son did enjoy the puppy getting into all the trouble, he thought it was pretty funny.

After the way I’ve been feeling, I wanted something quick and light hearted to read. And this book seemed like a great way to get that. It reminded me of when I was a kid and our dog, Nyla, was essentially monster at times and just all over the place. But we loved her all the same. I loved this little story and I loved the boys and the mom and Mia.
