After the way I’ve been feeling, I wanted something quick and light hearted to read. And this book seemed like a great way to get that. It reminded me of when I was a kid and our dog, Nyla, was essentially monster at times and just all over the place. But we loved her all the same. I loved this little story and I loved the boys and the mom and Mia.

Having a young child myself, this was an easy book to choose and review. My child also loves dogs, so this definitely fit the bill with our family. We both loved Mia, and loved her energy. This was definitely not like any other book I have read to my child, and we have dad many books over the past couple years. I felt the dialogue was a little stiff, but good for a young child. I would recommend this book to others, especially with the examples of patience displayed in the book. Most people would have gotten super frustrated with Mia, but this family did not. Great example!

Rating: 4/5 stars.

“Mia the Monster: Troublesome Tales of a Rescue Dog” by Jacqueline Ruth and illustrated by Beata Banach is an adorable story about the antics of a newly adopted pet. My rescue cat is named Mia and is also a troublemaker, so I related a lot to the book. The illustrations were beautiful and showed the emotions of the characters very well.

My only gripe was that the story felt too short. I flipped the last page, expecting a resolution with a lesson or moral, and there was none. I wish that the author had either shown how the dog adjusted to their home life, or made it clear that even if you are different or adopted, you are still loved by your family. I would recommend this book to young children who are animal lovers, especially those who have or are considering adopting a rescue animal.

This book reminds me of our family life when we got our puppy! Kids are going to love reading about the dog running around like crazy then getting dirty. The illustrations are cute and the story is funny.

Very well written and in a format similar to books I read in primary school. I downloaded this as I look after a dog called Mia and found that this was quite entertaining and fun.

I'm always looking for books that my son will like and that somewhat relate to his life and age. This book was perfect not only because Mia, the dog, behaves very similarly to our dog when he was a puppy, but also because our dog gets dirty as soon as he gets his bath. My son loved reading about another doggie that reminds him of ours. It's an easy boo to read for young children and an easy story to follow.

Mia is getting a bath, but that's just not her style. My young daughter loves this book. It's a great book for a child who is a dog lover and fun for a dog loving adult to read to that child. Simple language and charming pictures have made this a great choice for my child.

Beautiful illustrations. My 5 year old and I laughed and laughed at all of Mia's expressions. Anybody that has given a dog a bath will be able to relate to this book--those memories will bring this story into your heart. Short and simple story. This was a cute story about what happens after a dog gets a bath. It is a great read for a younger population (I'd say preschool-first grade) and had a lot of fun imagery. A very cute read.

My grandson and I have enjoyed reading Mia the Monster—-over and over again! The boy is 4 years old…and I am a bit older than that…and I look forward to the boy reading about Mia to me past my bedtime.
