If something seems to good to be true, it often is - the perfect idyllic town may be hiding an evil underbelly that doesn't like to be challenged. Claustrophobic and tense - the battle for good and evil you just didn't see coming, but now can't avoid. Definitely gripping!

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for providing me with an eARC of "Dark Minds" by Stuart Byng. I found this to be a relatively middling but fast read. I enjoyed the plot development and characters, and look forward to seeing what Stuart Byng brings us in the future!

This is a fantastic read.

The excellently written plot and story arc captured my interest right away. I liked how the characters were well-developed and believable. Excellent suspense, and I found myself constantly doubting my thoughts.
I can't wait to read the author's upcoming work.

I encourage you to read it.

I'm a big fan of English folk horror - Ramsay Campbell is one of my favourite authors - so was pleased to read Stuart Bing's 'Dark Minds.' The blurb/setup also reminded me of the 1970s TV show, 'Children of the Stones' which I also loved.

On reading it, actually it's not really all that similar to Campbell's books but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

New arrivals in an English village find themselves embroiled in a good versus evil battle in which the son, James, finds himself literally wrapped up in that battle.

It was a pretty quick and enjoyable read.

Dark minds by Stuart Bying.
A local Doctor seems perfect but he hides a secret. With the help of another powerful force, can James defeat this evil in Redwell?
I really really enjoyed this book. Read In one sitting. Great story and characters. 5*.

Found it quite boring to be honest and don't think it was written that well. Didn't feel over connected with any of the characters and found it quite long considering how short the book was

I wanted to love this book but there was something about the writing that just didn't do it for me. I will check out the other books by the author.

I tried reading Dark Minds but there are severe editing issues with this story. Whole paragraphs would be in different parts of the story which lead to so much confusion on my part. At first I thought it was written by someone whose first language is not English. Then I became aware of mixed-up content being out of order throghout the first part of the book.

I'm unable to review the actual story past the first few chapters. There is significant editing required, at least on the copy/version that I received.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read/review Dark Minds. I wish the story was readable.

It was a fairly easy read, although it did take me some time to get into the book. Once I did though, I enjoyed it.

Many thanks to Netgalley for this wonderful arc.

The Parish family has moved into the village of Redwell. The family has moved from the big city to this small English village to get a new start for a job where Rob the father/husband can run his own business. At first things are going well with the exception of the villagers are sometime friendly and sometime not. At times, they hear voices in the house. James, their son is trying not to hear voices. James goes with two boyfriends to play in the forest. They take him pass a small cottage that is overgrown with trees, bushes, grasses that it can hardly be seen. When James asks about it, they tell him to stay away from it as people have disappeared after investigating it. James wants to explore the cottage but they don’t want to. Why? James goes to the cottage after school and is abducted. When James waits up, he finds himself in a small room, maybe a closet and can’t leave the room. He is befriended by an older man who tells James he has a powerful mind that gives James the ability to control people. James isn’t too keen on the idea. His parents are frantic because James hasn’t come home and people are starting to stop looking for James. Will James go along with this man to learn about his mind’s power? Will he be able to escape?

At first when I started reading this novel, I didn’t know what to think. It wasn’t starting as I expected it to. The characters and their habits were well described. The novel’s ending makes me hope for another book to follow as I do have question that weren’t answered in the book. Overall, it’s a good read!

Meh. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. I found it difficult to stay invested as it started out stronger than it developed.

Very intriguing read. It grabbed me early on and I found it hard to put down. Loved the relationship between Robi and Sarah and James. I needed to know how things would turn out.

A good book which shows promise, I got drawn in at the start but my interest waned towards the end where I felt it flipped between scenarios a bit too much. I enjoyed the writing style for the most past and the characters are well written, you feel for them and are invested in them. The arc is unexpected and is something I could never have predicted. Some parts of the book are a bit confused and a lot is left unexplained at the end, Not a bad book by any means and would read more by this author.

Dark Minds by Stuart Byng was a quick and easy read. The plot was decently interesting however there are parts of the novel that aren't as smooth as others, and the formatting is off. The characters were well developed and cause an emotional connection which is a must for any good book.

Overall definitely showing massive potential, Stuart Byng may be one to watch!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the digital copy in exchange for this honest review.

Stuart Bying, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Dark Minds in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I thought the story as a whole was reasonably good.
Unfortunately, in places, the scenes between some characters were mixed with others and the outcomes were revealed before what actually occurred.

The story began with a lot of promise and as it developed I became invested in Rob and Sarah and the dynamics of their relationship and as a family unit with James.

I enjoyed the ending and felt that there was some tension as the book reached it’s crescendo.

Some parts of the story didn’t seem to flow as well as others but I enjoyed reading this book and will be looking out for further titles from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for gifting me this arc in exchange for an unbiased review.
