I actually enjoyed this book although I found it more lightweight and slightly predictable than other books by this author. If a murder mystery can be a light easy read then this book fits the bill. Well drawn characters who are fairly believable, busy people who seem to have a multitude of personal problems amid their professional lives.. Enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested and guessing interspersed with a whole host of human emotion

Enjoyable story. Drawn into the story from the start lots of twists and turns. Felt the end happened quite quickly but unexpectedly. Always enjoy reading this author and she never fails to disappoint

I have something to tell you by Susan Lucas hooked me in and didn’t let go. So intriguing with loads of unanswered suspicions and anomalies. The book made me frustrated and angry though at Tom’s attitude and Jay’s unprofessional behaviour. I can’t say the ending helped as I’m still going over everything and am raging! Definitely the sign of a great book! Credible gripping storyline with real life conundrums and so many questions. This has definitely been my favourite read for some time- but I remain raging!! Susan has painted great characters and get the nuances of their social skills very well. I felt I was walking in their lives and loved the tension between the lawyers and the police, alongside a healthy respect and collaboration. Set aside some time for this one. You won’t want to put it down and I think you’ll need some post reading processing time too! Four and a half stars rounded to Five

Wow....

Just wow, Susan Lewis has done it yet again! The twists and turns kept coming, I must admit the longer length was a little off putting but by the time I finished I wish the story had been twice as long! Storytelling at its best with a true master author.

(I really didn’t like Jay as a character though, she didn’t feel real. I knew I was reading about a character.)

4/5.

Always a Susan Lewis fan, and I enjoyed this too. The plot was good and I hadn't anticipated some of the twists and surprises in store. My only criticism would be that the characters felt very similar to those in the previous book, so I almost got confused. But a good read.

This was simply a brilliant piece of writing by the author, one of her best. I found myself completey embroiled into the story where I felt the characters were all so well etched and things interlinked in quite an unexpected manner. JAY was wonderful more than what her husband said, it were the other secrets that stole my breath away. I couldn't help but feel for the characters in this book.

And the ending though I had guessed it, it still blew me away. Author Susan Lewis sure kept some of the secrets embedded quite deep. I loved every moment of reading it. Completely fun

I knew this was going to be a book worth reading from page 1. It did not disappoint. Much more than a 'who done it'. All the characters were well developed and believable. Great research in to portraying the duties of a criminal solicitor. This is the first book that I have read by Susan Lewis, can't wait for the next one.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed Susan Lewis novels but for me this one just didn’t grab me. I found it a little predictable and seemed to remind me of something very similar.

I think Susan Lewis gets better and better, this was a very clever and gripping story of a woman betrayed by the men in her life. Would recommend,. thank you.

On paper this book is a crime thriller but it feels like so much more than a page turning crime thriller that takes a couple of hours to read.
Firstly this book has far more interesting and well developed characters than your average ‘whodunnit.’ Our main protagonist Jay, is a lawyer in her 40s with older children and the book explores her personal and family life as much as it does the crime and how that unfolds.
The book is quite long and detailed but doesn’t out stay it’s welcome or get boring in anyway.
The narrative is well written and paints our protagonists in vivid colour.
I would recommend this book, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything comparable.
The only thing preventing a full 5* is the characters get slightly less realistic in the final few chapters.

The style of writing used by Susan Lewis makes this book a compelling read. The story flows easily and you are left at the end of each chapter wanting more. A great story about a lawyer who seemingly has it all and her relationship with a suspected murderer she represents. Good characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for the advance copy of this book.

Another fantastic read from Susan.

This had me gripped I haven't read a book in a few hours for a good while.

The characters and storyline has so much depth to it you just didn't know what way this was going to go.

I really enjoyed this and is a real page turner making you wanting to know the outcome, oh just one chapter then it hooks you in.

You always know you expect a good story from Susan Lewis and this is no exception, an unusual murder which could easily be an open and shut case given the lack of other obvious perpetrators however lawyer Jay doesn’t feel that everything is as straightforward as it might seem. Away from work Jay is left reeling from a revelation from her husband which leaves her questioning the future of her marriage. I was really gripped by the first 80% of this, I really found myself rooting for Jay and her client and couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough, after this the tone of the book changes to a more emotional read which for me wasn’t as engrossing but did a great job of representing the changes in Jays life and the ending was heart rending.

I have read a few of Susan Lewis’s books and have to say I’ve enjoyed them all. She is an author that gets to the crux of human nature , emotions, family life, and what they get up to. She manages to get right into the way people act and people’s feelings, you can imagine yourself in the situations she creates, and try and put yourself there, and wonder what you would do. This book is no exception.

I felt for Jay and her predicament, and all that she must have felt when her husband Tom dropped his bombshell. Without spoiling it for other readers, I’m not at all sure how I would have dealt with it, but humans are Vunerable and make mistakes, and no one is infallible. However, she must have felt sick to the core with such a revelation.

Then her life takes a turn for the better, but will it last, you’ll have to read it and see what happens!

I just didn’t want this book to end. I wanted it to go on and on and find out what else happened but sadly I’ve finished it. It’s a very emotional read, and whilst I’m a gritty crime reader this was a wonderful book to be enjoyed by anyone.

My thanks to the publishers, netgalley and Susan fir the ARC.

This is the best book I have read for a long time. What a story and who is telling the truth. I could not stop thinking about the book after I had finished, so captivating and that twist near the end, that came as a complete surprise; the end had me in tears. A great story line.
