What a fun ride! Loved this fast paced thriller about a plane hijacking (sounds really weird now typing that out).

Looking forward to reading so much more from this author. Going to look through her backlist now!

Don’t read this before going on a flight — which is exactly what I did.

This was one of my favorite reads in 2021 when I first read it. It’s the perfect thriller that keeps you on your toes because it’s so relatable—almost everyone travels via a plane once in their life. Everyone always wonders if something could happen to them but usually brush it off.

Cora has had the worst luck when it comes to air travel and the people she loves, so why would her fate be any different than them? Great face paced read.

Cora's father dreamed of teaching her to fly. She took flying lessons and her father taught her to fly a passenger jet in a simulator. But ultimately she wanted to become a nurse and now works in a busy Seattle ER. Her husband died over a year ago in a helicopter crash while doing humanitarian work in Hawaii, and since his death she has been afraid to get on a plane. She's second guessed her decision so many times, afraid to leave her young children orphaned. But there is a ceremony in Hawaii celebrating her husband's work and she is requested to receive his award. She boards Pacific Air Flight 385, flying first class, sitting next to a handsome stranger, Kyle Adams, who, as a homicide detective, is a last minute addition to the flight to follow a lead in a case. But halfway through the flight, the plane is hijacked and six people are dead including the pilots. With no way to know how many hijackers there are, everyone becomes suspect and Cora has to attempt to save herself and the 154 other souls on the flight with only the help of a nearby pilot to coach her.
This book had plenty of action in it to keep me hooked, I felt like the romantic element between Cora and Kyle wasn't really necessary. But the story didn't really spend much focus on the attraction, so it didn't distract from the hijacking plot that much. I love the way that Alanna got revenge in the end and got her own happily ever after.
I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was a very fun and entertaining read. It was fast-paced, dramatic and very atmospheric. I devoured it in only two days and that too, on a family vacation lol 💃
It grips you from the very beginning and makes you desperate to reach the end to find out what's happening.

There's not much to dislike, except for the writing style. I felt that it was too simple and lacked some basic elaboration. And the events occurring in the book seem really forced and far-fetched. You know, like in the movies and stuff. It's really difficult to relate to all the situations.

Nevertheless, it was a quick and easy read and if you're looking for a tense, fast-paced thriller guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further!

This was a very surprising read. I wasn't expecting to be drawn into the story so much. The author sketches a nailbiting scenario and you can't help but stay fixed to the pages. The author's writing makes me more curious to investigate more of her books too.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

This book certainly won't help with my fear of flying but even if I didn't have the fear my heart would still be pounding. This was such an exhilarating book!

Airline disasters/hijacking seems to having a moment this summer and this one is a thriller with a side of romance.

Mid-way to Honolulu a flight is hijacked, and the bullets fly, killing several people, including the pilots. Among the passengers is Cora, flying for the first time since her husband’s death in a helicopter crash, Kyle, a homicide detective on his way to (catch a criminal?), and of course the hijackers. The short chapters and multiple POV from those both in the air and on the ground kept the pages turning.

Given the title it’s no secret how this will end and what will be required of one of the passengers, the pilot’s daughter. Fast-paced and full of intrigue and action this is a prime example of a popcorn thriller. The reader doesn’t know who to trust or how all the backstories will come into play until the final thrilling chapters. Sure, some things are unlikely to happen, but you don’t read this type of book looking for realism. My other quibble was the romance that developed on the plane in the midst of the crisis. But if you’re looking for a one-sitting thriller to devour at the beach or poolside, this would fit the bill nicely.

The Pilot's Daughter by Audrey J. Cole is action packed from start to finish! I'm kind of nervous to fly myself so this story about a hijacking made it even more suspenseful for me. Great character development and very exciting to see what everyone involved ends up doing under such a stressful situation that was supposed to be a flight to paradise in Hawaii! Highly recommend this book - you will not be disappointed!

This book was amazing. Totally gripped from the very first pages. I read it like I watch a movie, it was a non stop thrilling ride.
I can't find a single negative thing to say about this book, everything is great : short chapters, brave characters, plot twists and a never-ending suspense.

What I really loved in this book is that we don't get tangled up in endless descriptions, there is no slow moment, it's the perfect book for anyone who find themselves in a reading slump.

Well, this book certainly makes the idea of flying terrifying now, ha! I flew through this suspense novel about a hijacked flight and the passengers that must survive the ordeal. Not the best book I’ve ever read, but definitely entertaining. My biggest complaint was that I found the romantic undertone to be a little odd, given the circumstances, but maybe that’s just me.

Synopsis: When Cora’s husband was killed in a helicopter crash, she never wanted to fly again despite the fact that she had taken flying lessons as a young woman and had practised flying passenger jets on a simulator, however, she needed to fly to Seattle to Honolulu in order to attend a ceremony honoring her deceased husband. Halfway to Honolulu, the flight is hijacked and the two pilots are killed, along with two hijackers and some flight attendants. Cora’s seatmate is a Seattle Homicide Detective and they work together to determine if there are any other hijackers on the plane and to try to land it safely despite the fact that they are running out of fuel with no land in sight.

My Thoughts: While there was some writing that produced corny lines and a slight romance storyline that didn’t seem all that realistic considering the danger they were in, overall I found it entertaining and I pretty much flew through it. If you are looking for a book to entertain you but you’re not expecting it to leave a lasting impression on you, this is a good pick.

This was a very suspenseful and engaging book! It’s fast pace and suspenseful events kept me on the edge of my seat. It was nearly impossible to stop reading once I started! I highly recommend it (although maybe not for anyone while they are actually flying on an airplane, yikes!)

The Pilot's Daughter is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Cora is scared to fly after her husband died in a helicopter crash however, she must go to receive the award that he was given for all of his charity work. She is a young mother and an emergency room nurse but she is also a pilots daughter. She has taken lessons to become a pilot and she has also been in a flight simulator. several times. As Cora is seated in the first class section of the plane, she notices the girlfriend of a famous billionaire pharmaceutical entrepreneur across the aisle,

The man seated next to Cora is a Seattle Homicide Detective. Halfway across the Pacific on the way to Honolulu, the flight is hijacked. Six people are dead including both pilots. They are lost off the radar in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean and the motive for the hijacking remains a mystery. Cora and the Detective try to save themselves and the remaining 154 people on board. I highly recommend this book.

This is another engaging novel from Cole. The plot reflects every airline passenger's nightmare, terrorists taking over the plane. Hold on to your seat when you read this novel as the suspense is intense.

It was clever how Cole got pistols on the plane. I trust the method, while happening in the novel, really isn't possible. The drama on the airplane seemed very realistic to me. The motive of revenge is a powerful one and we see it in full operation. A woman was willing to cause the death of many to carry out her vengeful hatred toward one person.

I liked Cora as our heroine. She is a good example of overcoming fear to do what is necessary. I liked Kyle being on board, playing the hero. While we have met him in previous novels in this series, it was interesting to see him in a situation other than his occupation as a police detective. A romance develops between the two. While it may seem to have gone really quickly, romantic feelings can blossom when people are in intense situations.

While this novel is part of a series it reads really well on its own. The narrative alternates character points of view and that did seem to disrupt the flow of the plot. Other than that, an entertaining novel. Just don't take it with you on your next flight.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
