I decided to read this book because my husband is a pilot of small airplanes. He does it fir his own personal enjoyment. I on the other hand prefer the larger planes even if there is a chance for crashes or hijackings.
I was leery of this book because we all have read our share of hijacked airplanes and people being heroes. The author Audrey J. Cole gets my bows because she kept me glued to the words and I did not skip paragraphs because I was bored. The book was suspenseful and kept you on the brink of what is coming next and that is what you want from me as a reader anyways!
The characters are strong from Cora who is taken out of her grief and thrown into hades by trying to first nurse sick passengers and then to pilot a plane when she has never even soloed!
Kyle is a Homicide detective who ends up being a sidekick, but he is so much more because he has to try and save the day but these are not your typical hijackers.

Awesome book, definitely recommend

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This was a really fast-paced, attention-grabbing and entertaining book. I finished it all in one day. Not many books for which I can say the same.

The character profiles were skillfully crafted causing Cora, Kyle, Alana et al to come alive and so, too, the story. It wasn’t a far stretch of my imagination to see some of this plot walk from the book to life.

Although the author offered a red herring of a terrorist attack, the truth lies in the evil that corrupt men do.

Great read! Thank you Net Galley and Ms. Cole.

The Pilot's Daughter is yet another thriller set at 35,000 feet and is every bit as exciting and nail-biting as Falling (T. J Newman) and Hostage (Claire Mackintosh). Pacific Flight 385 has recently left the tarmac at Seattle airport in Washington heading to Honolulu, Hawaii but little do the 154 people aboard the express 737 service know, but a member of the cleaning crew - Asha Farar - has been forced to partake in the terrorist’s plans as they have her family held hostage back in Somalia and are threatening to kill them. In the video showing her family held at gunpoint in the small Somali village in which she grew up, Islamic militant group Al-Shabaab present her with an address in Seattle she must attend to pick up a package; it is to be placed on the plane in the compartment holding the automated external defibrillator and to show her they're deadly serious they shoot her uncle dead there and then. Terrified, she retrieves the pistol from the warehouse and hides it onboard. Back on the plane, it's halfway through the flight, which has gone relatively smoothly until now. It becomes evident that there are several hijackers onboard when they shoot dead both of the pilots, flight attendants and passengers. Six people are slain in cold blood and no one has any idea what the motive is for the hijacking. Those who are in charge and still alive believe there to be more terrorists posing as passengers on the flight to ensure their plan succeeds.

So knowing who to trust is a major problem and going off your gut is hardly the best idea when so many lives are at stake. The plane falls off the radar, there's no wi-fi and the bodies are piling up. First-class flight attendant, Mila Morina, who is an ex-military helicopter pilot, takes over the controls until she is grazed by a bullet. Cora is a recently widowed nurse and the daughter of a commercial pilot who is on her way to Samoa via Hawaii to receive a commendation awarded to her late husband for his humanitarian work during a devastating cyclone. She has flown via flight simulator numerous time although that is quite different to being in control of the real thing. Seated next to her is Kyle Adams, a Seattle Homicide detective on his way to apprehend a suspect. Can Cora, ably assisted by Kyle, land the plane safely and incapacitate any remaining threats onboard? This is a riveting, compulsive and exhilarating thriller full of action and extreme tension. From the get-go, you are plunged into the deep end and the high-octane, adrenaline-pumping game of cat and mouse the terrorists are playing. It felt incredibly real and the authenticity of flight procedures comes from Cole’s father being a retired Alaskan Airlines pilot. The suspenseful thrills, explosive twists and terrifying plot have you on edge the whole way through and guessing what was about to happen was futile as I simply couldn't guess correctly to save my life. Highly recommended.

Take a flight, put some people on it who have managed to smuggle on guns via a cleaner who had a terror group in Somalia sending videos of her family being murdered and more to come if she didn’t comply, add a billionaires girlfriend to the passenger list and you have a full on action thriller
Then add a reluctant traveller, a Pilot’s daughter and you don’t need me to tell you where this is going
And it goes there well
The tenseness of the beginning chapter last’s right through to the epilogue and it’s one of those that are playing in your mind’s eye as it goes
If you like disaster scenarios, with added oomph and surprises then you can’t not enjoy every page
Written well and although tekkie info given re the plane it was explained so a novice reader could understand and follow it
Thoroughly believable dialogue and scenarios and chillingly ‘I can just imagine’ bits where you think to when you have been on a plane
Great read

I was granted an advanced copy of this text by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Not quite sure I decided to read this book before I take a trip on a plane this summer, but oh well! This was a thrilling ride that I read incredibly quickly. Very gripping and trigger warnings galore for those that dislike planes or will be flying shortly. Cole does a great job pulling in the reader and I look forward to her next book.

I was lucky to receive a copy of The Pilots Daughter by Audrey Cole from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinions. The Pilot's Daughter is an exciting, action-packed thriller full of twists and turns. This is the 2nd airplane-based thriller I've read this year and this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will be thanking your lucky stars you are NOT on this flight! This book is amazing and very well written. I read it all in one sitting - it's that good!

The Pilot's Daughter is an exciting, really good action-packed thriller about a jet being hijacked. While many of us fly we rarely think the events in this story could happen to us. I really enjoyed this book and am interested in reading others by Audrey J Cole. This is a must read for all.
.
The story begins with Asha, a member of the cleaning crew for the airlines, receiving a threat against her extended family in Somalia. She is to go to a designated place pick up a package and hide it on Flight #385 as directed. Rarely does anyone do what they should do by calling the police and or the FBI. So she does as she is told although things don't go smoothly but she manages to get what she now knows as a gun on the jet.

Next up is Cora, a nurse on the flight and also a pilot's daughter, who will have to step up and save the people on board from the terrorists. She will befriend Kyle a Detective on the flight and together they will have to decide who they can trust to help them land safely. This book has many twists and is thoroughly a thrill a minute as these passengers face adversity.

After reading this, I learned a little bit more about flying and am glad that I book my seat closer to the front than the back.

I read this book over two days because I couldn’t put it down. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could and definitely recommend reading it when it comes out on June 22nd. This is the third excellent airline flight-related book I’ve read in the past year along with The Last Flight and Falling. This is the story of Flight 385, a Seattle to Honolulu flight that gets hijacked. The main characters onboard the plane are Alana - the girlfriend of a famous billionaire businessman, Cora (the daughter of an airline pilot) who is flying to honor her husband who was killed in a helicopter accident, and Seattle homicide detective Kyle who is seated next to Cora. Audrey J. Cole’s writing is easy to read and draws you in from the beginning of the book. Thanks to #netgalley and #rainierpublishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review #ThePilotsDaughter

This is a great combination of a thrilling plot with an angst ridden character who you can’t help but empathise with. Lots to keep track of and enough to make you think twice about your next flight!

Absolutely gripping thriller, could not put it down!
I found myself thinking about this book and wanting to get back to it when I wasnt reading, I really loved the writing style, and the scenes on board the aircraft made my heart race! No spoilers but I kept forgetting to breathe, the story is so well written, so tense and very scary, one of the best thrillers Ive read in a long time.
I also loved the character development, and I really became invested in their outcomes.
Never thought I would say it, but Go Alana!
Fabulous read, exciting and heart racing, I will seek to read more from this excellent author.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were well written, and I wanted to know what was going to happen. The pace of the book was good, and so was the story. Cracking book.

This is a mystery thriller with a huge dose of romance and several unlikely outcomes.

Cora, a widow with young children, is seated in first class on a plane bound for Honolulu when the aircraft is hijacked. As events spiral out of control, both pilots are killed and Cora, a pilot's daughter, must work with Seattle Homicide Detective Kyle Adams to save everyone on board. Cora's skills as a nurse are much in demand until a larger need ensues: she's going to have to land the plane.

I love a good disaster scenario as long as everything is realistic, and this strained my credulity at various times. I'd also recently read another book in a similar vein, and have to ask -- how likely is it that people who work for the airlines would actually aid and abet terrorists or hijackers -- no matter what the threat? I don't know, but it's pretty scary to contemplate. Many of the details of the "talk through" emergency landing protocol seemed accurate, but I know nothing about flying an airplane. The narrative moved fast and the only jarring notes where when another character in the book took the lead voice. I thought that both Cora and Kyle were not well-developed characters and I never really connected with either. Their instant romance totally put me off as well. Nevertheless, this allowed me to pass a couple of entertaining hours but the conclusion was a bit lame.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this e-book ARC to read and review.

While this book is good and a quick read, it was too much and not enough all at the same time. There are several story lines to follow but I don’t feel like I had enough invested in any of them because they jumped around so quickly. I would have loved more character development to be able to better understand what is driving the choices each character in the various story lines is making. We get some of that but to me it was quite surface level.

This was a fast-paced read that hooked me in from the start. The only downside were a couple of misplaced romances, and the fact that I felt I really didn't know the main characters as well as I should have. I felt slightly indifferent about them which could have simply been because I was devouring this book. I loved it and highly recommend!

Nothing bad I can say about this book! Action packed from beginning to end. It covered more in the first ten pages than it would normally take for half a novel! I was hooked from there beginning and the tension doesn't let up. A satisfying conclusion too. Grab this book -but maybe not while you are on a plane...

This was an enjoyable beach read, light and quite predictable. It moved along at a quick pace and the characters were easy to follow and likable.

I haven't been on an airplane in two years, and now when I'm planning to go somewhere, I had to read this turbulent tale of hijacking, murder, and mayhem? What was I thinking? I guess that I wanted a heart-pounding, tension-filled story to get me revved up, that's what, and that's just what I got!

Pacific Air Flight 385 takes off from Seattle to Hawaii with 143 souls on board who have no idea what is about to occur. Well, the three hijackers know.

Make sure you are wearing your seatbelt because you will get whiplash from this fast-paced, action-packed thriller. It's a fast read that will make your head spin.

From multiple viewpoints, this story is told from Cora, a young widow flying for the first time to honor her late husband's philanthropic work, to Kyle a capable homicide detective going to Hawaii to catch a culprit. The female airline cleaner risks everything to save her family in Somali and Mila, the flight attendant with flying skills who may have ties to the hijackers. And the spoiled billionaire's girlfriend, pregnant and flying to Hawaii, is she why the plane is being hijacked, or is it her boyfriend, the narcissistic billionaire who cares more about his company than anything else? These people all have interesting stories to tell, and I wish the book had been a little longer to learn more about them.

As soon as the hijacking ensues, a lot of shooting occurs on the plane resulting in the pilots' and the hijackers' deaths. Cora is a nurse, so she busies herself helping wounded passengers, and then they need someone to land the plane. It turns out her father was a pilot, and she also had some flight training, so off to the cockpit she goes. She is a handy girl to have around!

Have your life vest ready because you are going to need it! I initially thought I would give this book three stars, but because I couldn't put it down and because of the non-stop edge-of-your-seat action, especially towards the end, I gave it four stars. This flight was indeed a thrilling trip! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review. Be sure to book your seat on June 22, 2021.
