This is a fast-paced thriller with a twist of romance about an airplane hijacking. While the motivation for the hijacking is not terribly believable, the pace of the story and the race to land the plane safely will keep your heart pounding.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

📌MY REVIEW📌
I was hooked right from the start to the end and could not get enough! It was an incredible story and I loved every page.
This is my first time reading anything by this author and i must say the writing was completely and utterly engaging. The characters were all great. I literally could not put it down and stayed up all night to finish it. No matter how hard i tried to put it down and sleep i couldn't. I just had to know what was going to happen to Cora , Kyle and all the other passengers on Pacific Air Flight 385 . The characters are all realistic and described so well I really felt that I got to know them all. In fact I loved Cora and Kyle so much that i didn't want to say good bye. I really hope this author makes more books with these characters. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing . The descriptions took me on a journey and made me feel as if i was right there with them. The ending was absolutely perfect and I would LOVE to see this turned into a movie!!!! I just want to say Thank you to author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this 5 star story . I truly appreciate it!

When Pacific Flight 385 embarks from Seattle to Honolulu, it should just be a routine trip for the passengers and crew onboard. However, a group of hijackers taking their seats has other plans.

This was a fast-paced book from the outset and very cinematic in its scope - it was the book equivalent of blockbuster movies like Die Hard 2 or Speed. I enjoyed the action sequences and found the dialogue to be very believable. The plot behind the hijacking was also well-conceived; everything fit together perfectly for the eventual denouement.

I thought perhaps the action opened a little too quickly at the beginning -I would have liked to see a bit more building of the characters' backstories before we got straight into the main plot, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. There was also a lot of technical detail in terms of flying aircraft, but that's unavoidable, really, given the subject matter.
Overall, I would certainly recommend this book and seek out more from the same author. I think it would appeal to fans of James Patterson in particular, as well as anyone who loves the blockbuster films mentioned above.
Thanks to Netgalley for the advance review copy of this ebook.

In a vast sky of summer thrillers involving hijacked airplanes, this is a decent addition to set your sights on.

Cora is a young mother who is taking Pacific Air Flight # 385 from Seattle to Hawaii to honor her deceased husband’s anthropological work. Nervous to be on a plane, she finds herself seated next to a detective named Kyle.

Over halfway through the flight, it is evident that there are hijackers on board. They kill both of the pilots. The plane falls off radar, and there are some casualties...including some flight attendants.

Cora is the daughter of a pilot, and also a nurse. Given that she is the best chance they have to safely land the plane after their first choice is incapacitated , she ends up in the pilot’s seat.

Can she safely save the rest of the living souls on board?

This is a fast-paced thriller that flies with breakneck speed and rarely provides a chance to breathe between action-packed scenarios. I was hooked from the first page to the last, and managed to read this in a few hours.

It’s gripping and always entertaining, and would make one helluva motion picture.

While I couldn’t put it down, I felt it lacked character development. Yes, I wanted all the “good” guys to be safe, but I didn’t feel any kind of emotional punch for them.

On top of that, there is a hint of romance that evolves between two characters that seemed REALLY out of place given everything else going on. I just couldn’t buy into that...or the corny moments that were sprinkled in when tension was so high.

There were also FBI agents and attorneys who threatened people with the worst, only to be wholly wrong. I definitely had to suspend some disbelief near the conclusion.

BUT...was I entertained? Absolutely! Did I whip through this at lightning speed? Absolutely! Was I ever bored? Absolutely not!

I enjoyed this flight for what it was...and that’s blockbuster entertainment.

Thank you to Rainier Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The expected arrival date is 6/22/21...as long as there is no turbulence.

The Pilot’s Daughter by Audrey Cole

Oh, this was good! The synopsis first caught my eye because a flight from Seattle to Honolulu has been hijacked – and I’ve been on that flight a few times! Plus, living in Hawaii it has run through my mind a few times while flying that if something happens we’d have to make a water landing. Aack!

The terrorists are able to blackmail an airplane cleaner to hide a gun on the plane. The two hijackers kill people onboard as they attempt to take over the plane – including the pilots. A flight attendant with some flying experience takes over the controls. But, something isn’t quite right? Are there other terrorists on the plane? Who is their target on the plane? Will the passengers survive or will the plane crash into the Pacific Ocean.

Oh, I could not put this down and I’m kicking myself for waiting almost a week before starting it.

RECOMMEND

Now this is a good read. Kept me turning pages. The characters were interesting and I like how the story progressed. This one was well worth my time. .

Revenge is the aim of the game in this action packed thriller. From chapter one, I was completely hooked. There were so many twists and turns from beginning to end that I did not want to put this down. It definitely got me out of my book rut.

Flight 385 is on route to Honolulu when it is hijacked by two armed assailants. Just when you think you know where this story is heading, think again. The hijacking is but a small detail in what was an intricately woven web of panic, suspicion and revenge. When I finally felt some small relief towards the end of the book, the fear sky rocketed once again. Did anyone else hear Jaws music? The ending was satisfying but left me with one major unanswered question. However, I enjoyed this book so much I'm willing to overlook it. One last thing; what the hell is Australia Air? We have quite a few real airlines, why make one up?

Highly recommended. I will be raiding the authors back catalogue immediately.

Huge thanks to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for my free ARC. My Goodreads review contains some additional hidden spoilers.

The story had potential - hijack of a commercial flight bringing in threats to the family of a Somalian cabin crew member, rich bloke's pregnant girlfriend, heroine traveling to receive medal for dead husband who was killed in a helicopter accident, detective flying to collect a suspect.. Inefficient hijack, several killed including flight crew so widow comes forward to fly the plane to safety - not quite as naff as it sounds. Lots of interesting conversations between her and various other pilots/air traffic control types to help her get them all down safely. Implausible romance between her and detective, and so on. Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I received this book from the publishers via Netgalley for a review. A tense thrill ride. Well plotted novel with good character's.

I almost passed on this title, but the description intrigued me more so after checking a reviews, so I took a chance – so glad I did!

The story is told through the viewpoint of several characters, so there aren’t too many threads you have keep a hold of till the author ties it altogether for you as each the character reveals the motivations for his/her actions as the story progresses. The pace kinda reminds me of a flight where you have the run up to the takeoff, the flight, the landing and then you disembark at the terminal.
As a mystery thriller it was great, the dash of romance was for me unnecessary, as well as a bit unlikely but overall I loved the book and totally recommended it to anyone looking to fill a couple hours except… …maybe those about to embark on a long flight - at least until your feet back on firm ground.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of The Pilot’s Daughter in exchange for an honest review.

Cora is on her first flight since losing her husband in a helicopter crash. She’s, understandably, incredible nervous.

Cora finds herself seated next to a detective flying to pick up a perp.

Across the aisle she notices the girlfriend of a famous billionaire.

Halfway through the flight it’s high jacked. Who is responsible, and why?

This book is full of different characters with different motivations. You’re not sure who you can trust.

I enjoyed this fast paced thriller, but the characters lacked a bit of depth for me.

I give this one 🌟🌟🌟.

Suspense In The Skies...
Cora, a young widow, is reluctantly on a non stop flight from Seattle to Honolulu when the unthinkable happens. A hijack. With several people already dead, including the pilots, chaos ensues. Cora happens to be a pilot’s daughter but who can she trust on this plane? Well researched suspense in the skies with a credible cast of characters and a fast paced, exciting storyline. A tense page turner.

The Pilot's Daughter is an exciting, action-packed thriller full of twists and turns. This is the 3rd airplane-based thriller I've read this year, including Hostage and Falling, which should come out this summer. While I enjoyed both of the aforementioned thrillers, I have to say that I liked this one the best. Believe me, I am surprised, too, that the one will zero hype is the one that is actually the best-written.

The plot of the story revolves around several characters who become entangled in a terrorist plot on an airplane bound for Honolulu. The main character is Cora, a nurse on the flight who has to be brave and save the people on board from the terrorists. One highlight of this book is the twists. It's basically what made this thriller stand from its more well-known counterparts. Whereas I thought the twists in Hostage and Falling were nonexistent or not very surprising, I was blindsided during some moments in the Pilot's Daughter.

Here is an exciting excerpt from Chapter 1 that sets up the plot:

"He backed away from the camera and held up a paper with a Seattle address. “You will go to this address tonight and pick up a package. Tomorrow, you will put the contents of that package in the AED on board Pacific Air flight 385.”
The video turned back to her relatives begging for their lives.... The terrorist pressed his rifle into her chest and screamed at her in Somali to shut up.
The video swung back to the man holding the address. “Do this, and no one else in your family has to die.”"

Overall, The Pilot's Daughter is an amazing airplane-based thriller that will appeal to fans of Hostage and Falling. If those are on your TBR list already, just add this one and thank me later. Or better yet, take those off of your list and just read this one. I am giving this book 5 stars because I was genuinely surprised by this thriller, and it was just one step above the other thrillers I've read lately. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers, you won't regret checking out this book when it comes out in June!

It's Cora's first time to fly again since her husband's helicopter crashed and left her a single mom. She's frightened of course but is invited to go to Hawaii and receive an award in honor of her husband. Feeling obligated, she agrees. Little does she know that the plane is being hijacked. Luckily, she remembers a few things from flight school many years ago.

The author did a great job of explaining the mechanics of the airplane landing gear without going too far and losing my interest. I hated Eddie but so happy Alana found out the truth. I read this in one day and really enjoyed it.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was so much fun to read. Hijackers aboard the plane, a Pilot’s daughter and Detective working together in tandem to help until the pilots were shot and it was all upto the Pilot’s daughter Cora to land the plane. In water!!

My first book by author Audrey Cole, I enjoyed the thrill in the plotline. After the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines, I find myself eager to read every book with the airplane 🛬 setting. Audrey’s writing kept me at the edge of the seat as twists appeared out of nowhere, and also a couple of sharks. 🦈

It wasn’t a complex plotline, quite a straightforward one. At 200 odd pages, the story kept ramping up the danger with enough authenticity that it felt as if a movie was being played in front of me.

Fast paced with interesting main characters and hijackers with guns on a plane rapidly nose-diving, this was one thrilling ride.

I should not have enjoyed this book as much as I did. In fact, I couldn’t put it down. You see, I love flying and traveling, but I am so worried about things that can go wrong when on an airplane. So to read a book like this, I’m adding negative and unnecessary thoughts in my head. But I was intrigued by the book nonetheless, and was instantly captivated by the story once I started reading. This story was fast paced and kept me wanting more...although I did find a few aspects to be a little on the unrealistic side. However, this inside look at a plane hijacking and the stories of the people on board made for a great, consuming read.
