I think this is a little to basic for a beginner the sections on stone identification and uses is shirt and would be greatly enhanced with more pictures. I will say that the information that is presented is well done so I would call it more if an overview to help you decide gumdrop your interested in crystals before moving on to more in-depth books on the subject. Definitely not a bad effort and would be enjoyable to someone looking for a light read to gauge your interest level.

Crystals have garnished quite a famous reputation from ancient times to now. They are used in healing, to see into the future, and many more depending on cultural differences, folklores, and spiritualism. This book introduces you to crystals, their foundation, usage, and location. This book sheds a spotlight on crystals, their natural beauty, and their essence.

I love crystals and I know a bit about those I have but thought this would be good to learn more, this contains lot of information about crystals and although a little short, for a beginner, I think its important to know how they look like in different forms, so I think a lot more photos were needed. But saying that, this book does cover good knowledge for a beginner . I thought that the categories (color, shapes, sizes, type etc) were really useful . If you are a beginner and want a short introduction this book is for you.

This was a surprisingly well-researched book. I expected it to be the typical introductory book on crystals, with the basics of what, how, when, and correspondences. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find information about vibration levels, cultural significance, history behind uses, and lots more. There's some great tips and tricks in here, and just So Much information. This book is accessible to all levels of crystal practice, and will help elevate that craft.

I agree with others that this book definitely needs more photos of each crystal. With so many crystal books out there, visual aids to identify each crystal really is a must.

I think this book would benefit from having more photos to help people recognise all the different crystals that are described, as it's all very well giving information about them, but then how do people know what to look for?! Sadly not the best book on crystals for me.

Loved this book, excellent for the beginner who wants to know how to choose, wash and power your crystal, it’s even good for those who have used and carried crystals for years such as myself …..

I found this book easy to follow and a good read. A good reference book for those who love their crystals.

I do love my crystals, however, I do still consider myself to be a beginner in recognizing all of them/what the names are as well as their properties and how to care for them. I believe this quick read was a good source on the basics like that and I would recommend to all beginners to have a book like this on hand. I only wish there were maybe more pictures to further be able to positively identify crystals. But all in all, a good guide in my opinion.

This short book about crystals is full of great information for beginners on using crystals in the craft. There is great information about shapes of crystals and their meanings/uses, using crystals for manifesting, charging and cleaning crystals, amplifying power with crystals, and how to use a crystals in a grid and why. The one thing that was missing from this book, and it's kind of a big deal, is pictures to help identify crystals. The book wasn't advertised as being that sort of book but it would have made this a 5 star reference. Still I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about how to work with crystals.

I wanted to read an introduction book to crystals, so when I saw this on NetGalley I was excited to request it. The book is written clearly in an easy to understand language. The author gives the reader a history of crystals, how to use them in meditation, rituals, etc, how to cleanse them, and what their strengths are. My only complaint is the lack of pictures in the book. I do wish that more photos of some of the more common and often used crystals were included especially because it is geared to beginners like myself.

This book contains lot of important information about crystals for beginners, although it felt a little bit short, and did not have many pictures, which makes it hard to imagine the crystals I don't know about yet. I have read many crystal book and I collect them, so I am familiar with most of them, but for a beginner, I think its important to know how they look like, in raw and polished for example, or in other forms. In this case, the lack of photos makes it hard to study them, but I understand that this book is only an introduction of the crystal world,
But nonetheless, this book has depth and knowledge, and its nice to read a new voice in the community. I liked that there was categorization by color, shapes and sizes, type, vibration (or what its useful for), how to harness the crystal’s power, how to care for them, etc. If you are a beginner and need a fast reference that you can fly through, and learn the basics, this book is for you.

As a beginner to using crystals, this book is the perfect guide for those who are starting their journey out, or even just wanting to be more educated on the topic! Not only does this book give a historical background and cultural significance of certain crystals, but great advice and information on choosing a crystal, cleansing, storing, etc. along with many other aspects to use the power of crystals to the fullest! I highly recommend this book and even want to purchase the paperback copy to take handwritten notes!

I love all things crystals so I have read many books over the years on this topic. Despite that, I am always super intrigued and excited by new crystal books.
This book was OK - but it just didn't do anything new.
I found the writing to be dull, and unoriginal.

Not my favourite book on this topic - so many better, more engaging, books out there!

I've been a very avid crystal worker for years now and there is just something about intro books that draws me in. I always want to hear a new voice tell about their experience and David Smith did not disappoint in this book. This book gives you an awesome overview into the history of crystals, why we use them, why we are drawn to them and so so SO much more. I learned new things in this text and found out new properties I wasn't aware that I needed to know. I also love that he included the vibration level with them so you could understand more deeply how a crystal reacts to you.

This is also one of the first crystal books I have read that truly distinguishes color groups in detail and allows you to see the benefits from each without being overwhelmed with too much information.
