This book was fascinating. As someone who struggles with depression, it taught me a lot about that and other mental illnesses. It is a bit dark and sad, but if the topic interests you, or you know someone struggling with depression and/or suicide it's a great read. Peter Moroney is very intelligent on the subject, and has a lot to teach those who will read.

I really love a good memoir but this one wasn't for me. It was rough from the very beginning, with the dedication from the author telling his enemies to go to hell. Really not a good first impression at all. Especially from a book that is pitched as being written to find peace. It really set the tone and my expectations for the book - not a good start.

As far as the story itself, it's basically just a timeline of events. Lots of, "this happened, then this happened, then this". This type of story telling really doesn't allow you to form any kind of connection and I couldn't force myself to finish it.

This book had me rooting for Peter from the start. Sensitivity was used while discussing mental health. This memoir is an inspirational tale of love and hate, joy and sadness, friends and betrayal, incredible battles and suffering as well as a family fighting to stay together. It both made me laugh in places and shed a tear in others. Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
